My Three Beautiful Vampire Wives can hear my Inner Thoughts-Chapter 160: NOOO!!
Zenaya’s voice still trembled in the air when Cain finally turned back to face her.
For a moment, he simply looked at her.
The glow of the broken battlefield reflected faintly in his eyes, the fallen owl behind her, the cracked ground beneath their feet, the tension that refused to fade. Everything around them felt heavy, yet his expression slowly softened as if he had already made peace with something no one else could accept.
"It’s normal," Cain said quietly.
His voice did not carry force, yet it reached every ear in the clearing.
Zenaya froze.
"...Normal?"
Cain nodded once.
"For a family to survive... someone has to step forward."
He did not rush his words. He let them flow slowly, as if he was carefully placing each one in its proper place.
"That’s how things have always worked."
Zenaya shook her head immediately.
"No."
Her voice rose, firm and filled with resistance.
"No, that’s not normal."
She took a step toward him.
"We’re not giving you away like that."
Cain gave a small smile.
It was not a happy smile. It was the kind that carried a quiet weight.
"You should."
Zenaya’s eyes widened.
"I said no."
Her tone grew sharper.
"You’re part of this family."
"And I won’t let you walk to your death just because someone pointed at you."
Cain let out a slow breath.
For a brief moment, he looked down at his own hands.
"...All my life," he began, his voice growing softer, "I’ve been a freeloader."
The words landed heavily.
The Moonshade vampires fell silent.
"I ate your food."
"I stayed under your roof."
"I lived because of your protection."
His fingers curled slightly.
"And what did I give back?"
No one answered.
Cain let out a faint laugh.
"Nothing."
He lifted his head again.
"I didn’t fight."
"I didn’t protect anyone."
"I didn’t carry any burden."
His gaze moved across the family.
"I just... lived."
The honesty in his voice made several of the younger vampires look away.
"I know what people think of me."
Cain continued.
"That I’m useless."
"That I’m dead weight."
"That I only exist because of the three of them."
His eyes briefly moved toward Faith, Ivira, and Cornelia.
"I didn’t argue."
"Because it’s true."
Zenaya clenched her fists.
"That’s not—"
Cain gently shook his head.
"It is."
His voice remained calm.
"I’ve been living comfortably while everyone else was struggling."
His chest rose and fell slowly.
"I’ve watched all of you fight."
"I’ve watched you bleed."
"I’ve watched you risk your lives."
"And I stayed behind."
His gaze grew distant for a moment.
"As if I had the right to."
The air felt heavier.
Zenaya’s throat tightened.
Cain looked back at her.
"So this..."
He gestured lightly toward the princesses.
"...this is finally something I can do."
His voice carried a quiet strength now.
"I can be useful."
Zenaya stepped forward again.
"You don’t have to prove anything."
Her voice shook.
"You’re already part of us."
Cain smiled faintly.
"That’s exactly why I have to."
He lowered his head slightly.
"Please... Elder Zenaya."
His voice dropped.
"Let me have some use."
The words struck her harder than anything else he had said.
Zenaya froze.
Her lips parted, but no words came out.
Before she could answer—
A sudden gust of wind rushed past.
Elder Rivik appeared beside Cain in an instant.
His figure moved so fast that several of the younger vampires barely caught a glimpse of it.
He landed beside Cain and placed a firm hand on his shoulder.
The contact was solid.
Grounding.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Rivik let out a long breath.
"You..."
His voice carried a rough edge.
"...you really know how to make things difficult."
Cain let out a small chuckle.
"I try."
Rivik shook his head slowly.
"You know..."
He paused.
"I never liked you."
Several of the younger vampires blinked in surprise.
Cain raised an eyebrow slightly.
"That honest, huh?"
Rivik snorted.
"I’ll be even more honest."
His grip on Cain’s shoulder tightened slightly.
"I hated you."
The clearing fell completely silent.
"You married my daughters."
His voice grew heavier.
"Three of them."
His eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at Cain.
"Beautiful."
"Strong."
"Talented."
"And you..."
He exhaled sharply.
"...you were just standing there."
Cain smiled faintly.
"I get the feeling you’re not complimenting me."
"I’m not."
Rivik’s voice remained blunt.
"I watched you every day."
"I watched how you lived."
"How you avoided everything."
"How you stayed behind while others fought."
His eyes hardened.
"And I thought... this man doesn’t deserve them."
Faith’s fingers tightened.
Ivira’s gaze dropped slightly.
Cornelia remained still.
Rivik continued.
"I thought you were weak."
"I thought you were useless."
"I thought you were nothing more than a burden."
Each word landed heavily.
Cain did not argue.
He simply listened.
Rivik let out another breath.
"But just now..."
He paused.
His expression changed.
"...I saw something different."
His grip loosened slightly.
"I saw someone willing to step forward."
"Someone willing to give up everything without hesitation."
His eyes met Cain’s.
"That’s not something a useless man can do."
Silence followed.
Rivik gave a small nod.
"I was wrong."
The words came out quietly.
"But I can admit it."
Cain blinked once.
Then he smiled.
"Thank you."
Rivik looked away slightly.
"...Don’t thank me yet."
His voice lowered.
"It’s a shame..."
He paused again.
"...that I realized it this late."
The weight of his words settled deeply.
Rivik removed his hand from Cain’s shoulder.
"Still..."
He forced out a breath.
"...if this is your choice..."
His voice softened.
"...then go."
The Moonshade vampires reacted.
One by one.
Some stepped forward.
Some lowered their heads.
"...Farewell."
One of the older vampires spoke first.
Another followed.
"Take care... wherever you go."
A younger one scratched his head awkwardly.
"...Try not to die too fast."
Someone else scoffed lightly.
"Tch. Finally doing something useful."
Yet his voice lacked its usual bite.
Another wiped his eyes quickly.
"...Idiot."
"Why now..."
Their voices overlapped.
Some emotional.
Some awkward.
Some hiding their feelings behind rough words.
Zenaya stood frozen.
She could not speak.
Faith stared at Cain without moving.
Ivira’s lips pressed into a thin line.
Cornelia’s gaze remained steady, but something deep inside her wavered.
Cain looked at all of them.
A light appeared in his eyes.
Not sadness.
Not fear.
Something else.
Something warm.
"...Thank you."
He said it simply.
Then he turned again and began walking toward the princesses.
Each step felt steady.
Unwavering.
Behind him, the Moonshade family watched.
Ahead of him, the princesses stood waiting.
Princess Aurelia crossed her arms slightly.
"Well then," she began, her voice calm, "since you all don’t have a—"
"NOOOOOOOOO!!"
