My Superstar Wife Is So Popular-Chapter 846 - 844: I’m Sorry
"Hmm?" Jinghen sat down by the bed, his hands on either side of Wen Qiao’s head. "Did I wake you up?"
"Qi Ming and Wen Shu probably broke up because of what happened with me. He’s a good kid. Be gentle with him in the future. Don’t just go and scold him..."
Wen Qiao seemed to be talking in her sleep. After speaking, she turned over and fell asleep again, wrapped in blankets.
Jinghen was momentarily stunned, then warmly smiled, propped himself up, brushed Wen Qiao’s hair aside, and gently kissed her cheek. "Got it, goodnight, darling."
After tucking Wen Qiao in, Jinghen closed the door and returned to the living room.
Qi Ming was leaning back on the sofa, fast asleep and oblivious. Jinghen walked over and nudged his foot, waking him up. "Get up, go sleep in the room."
"Hmm?" Qi Ming slowly woke up from his slumber, eyes dazed. After seeing Jinghen standing in front of him, he became more awake. "Little uncle."
Jinghen repeated, "Go sleep in the room."
"Oh."
Qi Ming sluggishly responded, got up from the sofa, and slowly walked towards another bedroom.
After taking a couple of steps, he seemed to remember something and suddenly called out to Jinghen. "Little uncle."
Jinghen was tidying up the coffee table. His cleanliness wouldn’t allow leaving these things overnight.
Hearing Qi Ming call him, he looked up. "What’s up?"
"I’m sorry." Out of the blue, Qi Ming apologized to him. "And to Little Aunt, if I hadn’t..."
He paused, then continued, "Today wouldn’t have happened."
"This has nothing to do with you. Don’t overthink it." Jinghen put down what he was holding, straightened up, and looked at Qi Ming. "No need to apologize. No one will blame you. I won’t, and neither will Wen Qiao."
Qi Ming was momentarily stunned, then nodded. "Then I’ll go to sleep."
"Mhm."
With the door closed, most of the drunkenness in Qi Ming’s eyes had dissipated.
He didn’t turn on the lights, using the moonlight from outside, he walked to the balcony, took a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, drew out a cigarette, and lit it.
Amidst the swirling smoke, his vision was somewhat blurred.
No one would blame him?
If they knew he was hiding things for Wen Shu, would they still not blame him?
He knew that man wasn’t a fan of Wen Qiao, but a fan of Wen Shu.
He and Wen Shu separated to head to the Jinhua Award site. After getting styled in the lounge, he sneaked out to find Wen Shu, but didn’t see her in her lounge.
After asking around several times, someone said they saw her heading toward the park behind the venue.
When he got there, he happened to see Wen Shu standing with a man.
Due to the angle, the footage captured by the surveillance indeed showed the man gripping Wen Shu’s hand, and interpreting it as him pleading with her wasn’t wrong.
But Qi Ming saw something different from what the footage captured.
He heard the man talking about how much he liked Wen Shu. Initially thinking Wen Shu was being harassed, he was about to rush out when he vaguely heard Wen Qiao’s name and how she’d agree to his request once things were settled.
Seeing the man’s longing for Wen Shu, Qi Ming fully understood what Wen Shu’s "request" referred to.
Later, when he found out Wen Qiao was in trouble, he understood what Wen Shu meant by "once things were settled."
Whether from a man’s standpoint or a family perspective, he couldn’t accept what Wen Shu had done. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
But Wen Shu was indeed someone he genuinely liked. For him to tell Jinghen everything, he couldn’t do it, not yet.
