My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!-Chapter 85: Especially Chilly
"Woosh," she quickly retracted her hand, but without support, her forehead hit the ground.
"Melody Thorne," under her was Jared Quinn’s extremely cold voice.
Melody didn’t think much, she just slid down, covering her forehead, and headed upstairs. She knew if she explained that she hadn’t meant to knock him over, no one would believe her!!!
Jared’s forehead twitched without relief, and he got up to follow her upstairs.
After getting into her pajamas, Melody remembered she hadn’t memorized her lines. She looked over at the man lying on the big bed in the bedroom, emitting a chilling aura, and decisively shrank onto the sofa to look at the few thin pages of the script.
...
In the morning, Melody was eating with her head down, holding her phone with one hand and texting. She sent a text to Kiki Sutton, hoping she could come to school today to watch her perform.
"Young Madam," the butler noticed the low atmosphere at the table and couldn’t resist trying to lift it. "I heard you were selected for Director Irving’s new play? Congratulations."
"What role?" Jared asked emotionlessly, looking up.
"Uh... not even considered a supporting role."
Jared "...".
As expected.
"Don’t be discouraged, Young Madam, getting selected is already an achievement," the butler sincerely consoled her.
Melody glanced at him coolly, "Are you consoling an idiot?"
Butler "..."
Aethelburg Academy.
When Melody arrived at the makeshift place for auditions, most of the participants were already there.
"Melody Thorne, hurry up and get your makeup done," Penny Lane urged. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Okay," Melody entered the makeup room. Ivy and her group were already doing their makeup. Upon seeing her enter, Ivy didn’t even bother to pretend; after all, she wasn’t getting into the Quinn Family anytime soon.
Her makeup was half-ruined, so it was taking a while. By the time she finished putting on her red period costume, an hour had passed.
"Oh, Melody Thorne, no one came to cheer you on?" a few women beside Ivy glanced at her.
Melody looked around from the stage; the theater was large, surrounded by seats below, with sections for family members and fans.
Everyone else’s sections were full, but hers was particularly empty.
The most people were Ivy’s fans and family members; even people from The Adler Family were there. She looked over and indeed saw that melancholic, fierce young man, Caleb.
He raised his head and met Melody’s gaze briefly, then sat in the back row of Melody’s family seating section, not knowing whether it was intentional or not.
"Ha ha ha ha, look, that little fool actually sat in Melody Thorne’s family section," the women burst into laughter.
Ivy chuckled lightly; she’d been worried about Caleb showing up to embarrass her, but now it was fine since he went to Melody’s section, clearly there to entertain her.
"Melody Thorne, don’t you have family?" Penny Lane approached.
Melody thought about it and realized she really didn’t have family; Jared Quinn wouldn’t possibly show up.
"He’ll do," she said, unconcerned.
"Ha ha, she only has a fool cheering her on," the laughter around grew even more reckless.
Caleb lifted his head, his gaze swept over those women and then casually dropped it again.
"What’s so funny, what’s there to laugh about!" a woman walked in from outside the theater, Kiki Sutton.
PS: Anyone want Jared Quinn to show up too? Listening to you, this Chapter is an extra, there will be another one at midnight.
