Jared tossed the tie in his hand to the butler, his dark phoenix eyes fixated on the little woman in front of him who seemed unaware of the impending doom.

"Melody～" Timmy was sitting on the couch, holding an iPad and playing a game. As soon as he saw her come back, he spread his arms wide for a hug.

Melody Thorne walked over, picked up little Timmy in her arms, and softly asked, "Why are you still up so late?"

"I’m afraid you won’t come back," Timmy said, tightly clutching Melody Thorne and occasionally glancing warily in Jared’s direction.

Jared’s dark brows twitched twice, and he pinched his brow before heading upstairs.

Halfway up, he deliberately paused and pointed in Melody Thorne’s direction, "I’ll give you an hour."

"So fierce," Timmy whispered in Melody Thorne’s ear.

"Absolutely," Melody Thorne agreed wholeheartedly.

"Let me play for a bit," Melody Thorne said, holding Timmy while taking the iPad from him, where he was playing "King’s Honor."

Entering the game page, she thought of Kiki Sutton, and in a burst of anger, she unleashed a killing spree, with Timmy watching earnestly beside her.

She cleared three levels in a row.

After half an hour, Jared came down from upstairs to pour a glass of water, glancing at the two figures on the couch.

The two of them hadn’t noticed him coming down, absorbed intensely in their game.

Jared’s expression darkened; the two people who usually hovered around him at home were now ignoring him completely.

Melody Thorne entered a new round, planning to have one last epic battle before sleeping. Fierce in the game, she suddenly encountered a majestic character, hands behind his back, standing tall in the attire of Qin Shi Huang.

Seeing him reminded Melody Thorne of Jared, and it irked her. Why the act?

She charged forward, and died in three seconds.

After respawning, she charged again, and died in two seconds.

The third time, she tried to bypass him, but he chased after her and she died again!

"Ugh, so frustrating!" Melody Thorne threw the iPad onto the couch. Why did she keep dying?

"Stay calm, let’s not play anymore," Timmy said, soothing her chest with his little hands.

"Young Master, shall I take you up to sleep?" the butler came over.

"Alright," Timmy reluctantly headed upstairs.

Melody Thorne stood up to go upstairs as well, but her peripheral vision caught a glimpse of the iPad screen, where she continued to die even without moving.

She huffed and looked up, seeing Jared sitting on another couch, sipping water, using an elegant goblet even for plain water.

Melody Thorne suspiciously glanced at his large hands holding the phone and walked over. Seeing his screen, she felt her temper flare.

"Jared, you’re awful!" She lunged to grab his phone, but Jared pulled his arm back at that moment.

Due to the momentum, she fell onto him, a perfect collision.

Her hands landed on his chest.

Regaining her senses, Melody Thorne looked up and met a pair of profoundly dark and mesmerizing phoenix eyes, as if they held a magnetic field pulling her in.

Her heart thudded erratically in her chest.

The few remaining servants nearby were instantly stunned, their jaws dropping.

"Get up," Jared ordered, pursing his crimson lips.

Melody Thorne’s face flushed instantly, and she pressed her hands against his chest to get up, but as soon as she touched him, her fingers brushed against the firm lines beneath his shirt buttons.
