The men in black all retreated after meeting Jared Quinn’s gaze.

"Do you know each other?" Keith Lawson asked awkwardly, seeing Melody Thorne clutching Jared Quinn’s arm; more importantly, the arm she was holding belonged to the most powerful man here. His gaze towards Melody Thorne gradually became one of those looking at a kept woman.

"Yes," Melody Thorne nodded. She also noticed Keith Lawson’s gaze and quickly explained, "My parents went abroad, and he’s an old family friend, so my parents asked him to take care of me."

"Oh," hearing Melody Thorne’s explanation, Keith Lawson’s eyes brightened once more. As long as he’s not her boyfriend.

"Wait," Melody Thorne immediately released the man’s arm, "Keith got injured saving me, I need to take him to the hospital."

"No, no need," Keith Lawson laughed heartily, a blush creeping over his ears. "I’m in good shape, very healthy, no need to go to the hospital."

"How can that be?" Melody Thorne was about to rush back to Keith Lawson’s side when her arm was suddenly grabbed.

"Take them to the hospital," Jared Quinn pulled her and turned to leave.

"Yes."

"Hey, what are you doing? I won’t go back with you," Melody Thorne struggled, Timmy still hadn’t returned, she didn’t want to go back.

A cold light flashed from Jared Quinn’s eyes, and in an instant, he had her pinned against the car, "Not going back with me and leaving with those guardians of yours?"

"Who I leave with is my freedom," Melody Thorne lifted her head defiantly and looked back at the man.

Not only now, but she wants freedom in the future too, to fly wherever she wishes.

"Say it again," Jared leaned forward, pressuring her, "Have you forgotten whose woman you are now?"

Melody Thorne responded, "...Anyway, I’m not yours."

Jared Quinn lowered his eyes, his large hand wrapping around her waist, and kissed her lips with a slight anger, using his customary dominance and actions to tell her whose woman she is.

The kiss, nearly consuming everything, left Melody Thorne unable to breathe for a moment, but this passivity made her very unwilling. Why should he get to dictate everything about her?

She opened her mouth to bite his lips.

Melody Thorne angrily opened her mouth wide, furiously biting down hard.

"Hiss—" Instantly, tears shot out from her eyes.

Melody Thorne covered her lips with her pale hand, agonizingly twitching, her teary eyes glaring at the man.

Jared Quinn saw that her lip was a bit broken, but he was determined to give her a lesson, making her clearly remember whose woman she is. His green hat was not something she could wear.

Melody Thorne turned, opened the car door, and got in, curling up in the window seat, completely ignoring the man beside her, while the coat from Keith Lawson she wore was long discarded by him.

Jared Quinn also got in the car, and it swiftly drove away from the scene.

Not far away, someone hidden in the dark emerged, Caleb stared at the departing car, clenching his large hand inside his pocket. He had seen everything that just happened clearly, and as he turned, his eyes filled with murderous intent fell on the two who had kidnapped Melody Thorne and fled, a gloomy haze exuding from his being.
