My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!-Chapter 414: To Sign or Not to Sign
She was afraid that if he got tired of her, he would treat her the same way as before,
while she was lost in her thoughts, she didn’t notice that both Jared Quinn and the old master had changed expressions because she had taken too long to think.
"You don’t want to sign?" Jared Quinn’s lips tightened into a thin line.
"Oh dear, I’m running out of breath, I’m really out of breath," the old master wailed, showing none of the demeanor of an elder.
"I might be dying soon, I’m about to die."
"Quickly, bring the oxygen mask," the doctor cooperatively spoke up, "Master, don’t get agitated, young madam will sign, she definitely will. You can rest assured."
"She doesn’t even have a pen," the old master’s eyes flashed with cunning,
the butler immediately brought a pen to Melody Thorne, "Young madam, you should hurry and sign, I’m afraid the old master really won’t hold on much longer."
Melody Thorne stared at the contract in her hand, hesitant to sign. To her, this was no different from being bound; even if it was binding, it had no meaning. She didn’t want to tie herself completely to someone else like she did in her past life.
The old master held his breath as he watched her,
and the butler was sweating anxiously, having noticed the increasingly unfavorable expression on the young master’s face. Young madam, haven’t you always loved the young master the most? Please, just sign already.
Melody Thorne felt pressured to pick up the pen, her face not particularly happy,
and all her reactions were observed by Jared Quinn. Just as Melody Thorne was about to sign, Jared Quinn stepped forward and took the contract from her hand. "No need to sign."
Melody Thorne looked up, suddenly feeling much lighter in her heart; at least she didn’t have to be bound for a lifetime. She was especially afraid of the feeling of being constrained, even if the man in front of her was someone she could never escape from. She said with a smile, "Yes, yes, we even have a marriage certificate, we really don’t need this."
Jared Quinn’s deep, ice-like gaze was filled with an endless coldness, though there was a strained restraint. His eyes on Melody Thorne felt more like a large cage.
Whether she signed or not, she would never fly away.
"Yes, whether she signs or not, the result is the same. We’ve already decided to start trying for the next child once Timmy recovers, so, Grandpa, you don’t need to worry anymore."
Jared Quinn smoothly defused the situation for her. The old master glanced at Jared Quinn, his face full of anger, didn’t he see he was helping him? Could he really keep his wife with that cold temperament of his?
"No, Melody, you need to think clearly, all my assets are on this," said the old master with a face of distress.
Just as Melody Thorne wanted to say something to comfort the old master, the phone rang. It was Finn Thorne calling.
"Hello."
"Sis, hurry to the hospital, Mom’s old illness flared up, and she fainted in the hospital," Finn Thorne’s anxious voice came over the line.
"What do you mean by old illness flared up? It’s clearly because you brought back some shady friend, triggering Mom’s headache," Rochelle Thorne shouted from the other side.
Melody Thorne, hearing Rochelle’s voice and her mention of Finn’s friend, thought that it might be Leon Rivers trying to awaken Mrs. Thorne’s memory, which caused her to faint.
"I’ll head over right away," Melody Thorne hung up the phone and looked at Jared Quinn and the old master. "Grandpa, my mom fainted and is in the hospital. I need to go check on her."
