My spirit animal is a F–Rank gecko-Chapter 6: Drama on a train (3)
Inside the women’s bathroom.
The girl bent down to help the attendant get the stain off her skirt.
"Wow, this banana stain just won’t get off." The girl used a wet tissue to rub the attendant’s skirt.
"Yeah..." The attendant looked at the girl, avoiding her eyes.
"Is something wrong?"
"I’m... sorry I couldn’t help you." The attendant spoke, closing her eyes. The girl’s eyes widened.
"Uhhh... it’s okay. It’s inevitable either way if there’s no proof of his assault." She continued brushing the skirt.
"..."
It was silent in the bathroom. The only thing that could be heard was the scraping of the tissue against the fabric.
Then the attendant broke the silence.
"If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your name?" She pointed toward the girl.
"Me? My name is Annie, but my friends like to call me Ann."
"That’s such a beautiful name." The
attendant put her hand on her chin, as if thinking about something.
"How about you? What’s your name?"
The attendant gave a surprised look, followed by a smile.
"I’m Amanda. And Annie, I really admire your bravery." Amanda looked at Annie warmly.
"What?"
"You’re so brave for standing up for yourself. Most girls will just ignore the harassment they take, since they’re embarrassed to admit it in public."
Annie face went sour after hearing what Amanda said.
"See! This is the problem Boundara has. Even if we’re in the warden era, there are still so many girls out there getting harassed by men!"
Annie stood up and threw the wet tissue in the bin.
"That’s why..." She looked down, her expression turning sad.
"I want to become someone in the future that girls of any age can look up to, for girls to know they’re also human beings. Not some toys that men can play with."
She took a deep breath, then looked at Amanda with a serious expression.
She held Amanda shoulders, gripping them slightly. "I need your help to punish these kinds of people. Most people would think, ’Why would I go this far? It’s just a butt grab.’ First—"
Annie raised her index finger.
"We don’t know what that Hanjon guy did other than touch me. He could’ve SA’d other girls before, seeing how brave he is to do this kind of act. Second—"
She raised another finger. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"If we let this go, he’ll continue doing it until he’s caught. If we let this case go easily, more perverts will think like this: ’Oh, the law for SA is so bad here in Starastan, I’ll probably get away with it anyway.’ And we don’t want that, do we?" She tilted her head at Amanda.
"We... do not?"
"EXACTLY! At the very least, I’ll make this extremely difficult for him to get out of, so he doesn’t mess with girls again in the future."
Something lit up in Amanda’s heart.
It was like she was seeing her hero. But deep down, she felt guilty helping Hanjon with this.
I have no choice... Amanda thought.
I need that money to pay off my debt! Yeah, that’s right. My actions are justified. I’ll just carry out what I was told to do...
"So?" Annie’s voice snapped Amanda out of her thoughts.
"Where do you stand, Amanda?" Annie asked with a bright smile.
"I stand..." Amanda’s heart wanted to say she was on the girl’s side. But deep down, she stood on no one’s side.
Amanda only stood on the side that would give her more money. And in this case, it was Hanjon.
"You, of course!" She faked a smile.
Amanda held Annie’s hands and looked at her with sparks in her eyes—not because she wanted to support her, but because of the money waiting for her.
The two of them left the bathroom and went to the booth where the man was smoking.
"Sir... please don’t smoke on the train."
"Yeah, yeah." He flicked the cigarette onto the booth seat.
Annie furrowed her brows at the used cigarette. "Hey! You know this is my booth, right? You can’t just dirty someone’s place!"
Amanda touched Annie shoulder and leaned in to whisper.
"Don’t worry. I’ve got this. Just wait until the train stops at the station."
Amanda looked at Hanjon and pointed toward something with her eyes.
As if Hanjon understood, he stood up.
"What are you even going to do?" Annie asked Amanda.
"Just trust me, okay? I’m the adult here!" Amanda said with a stern voice.
Hanjon passed Annie and touched her shoulder.
"Go clean up that trash... princess."
Before leaving with Amanda, he let out a faint scoff.
Annie’s face turned red.
She was about to burst with anger. Her chest began to glow cyan again, and she clenched her fists, ready to strike.
"No..."
She remembered something and relaxed her hands. The glow slowly disappeared.
"I can’t let my anger take control of me. Not here!"
Annie reluctantly picked up the trash Hanjon left and threw it into the bin.
She then plopped into her seat, sighing in exhaustion.
"Why is this sooooo complicated..."
She loosened the bow in her hair, and her black hair gracefully fell, covering her face.
Unbeknownst to the tired Annie, Jaster slowly crept outside her booth and took a peek.
"Wow, you must be exhausted."
"Krrk!"
Jaster slowly opened the booth door and tiptoed inside to retrieve the phone under the seat.
Crouching down, he saw his phone and picked it up.
Before getting up, he saw that Annie eyes were closed. Jaster scanned her hair color and face.
He tried to think of a character resembling her, since she looked like someone he had seen before in Soulbound.
His thoughts were interrupted when Annie turned her body, startling Jaster, who thought she had woken up.
"Phew."
He slowly stood up and reached for the door.
Until—
"Buuurp!"
Purple let out a huge burp that echoed in the booth.
"PURPLE!"
The girl woke up and rubbed her eyes.
"What the heck was that disgusting burp?"
Opening her eyes, she saw Jaster near the door holding his phone, with the gecko on his shoulder.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Is this train full of perverts?!" Annie lost it and tackled Janster.
THUD.
They both fell into the hallway. Annie reached for his phone.
"GIVE ME THAT! WHAT WERE YOU GOING TO DO WITH MY VIDEO?!"
"NOTHING! I swear on my life, I’m not one of those teenagers!" Jaster smacked her hands away.
They both have a rustle on the floor, while the gecko just watch the two fight. Burping again in the process.
"Purpleberry, help me here!"
"Your spirit animal at least have some decency!"
She overpowered Jaster and covered his mouth, then snatched his phone.
"I knew you were a weirdo when you tried to break that fight earlier. How can Bondspire Academy accept students like you?"
"Hey, that’s rude. I worked hard to get there."
Adam infact did NOT do anything to go to the academy, since it’s jaster body that got him to the academy, not Adam who got regressed recently too jaster body.
Annie locked Jaster’s legs with hers, putting them in an awkward position with her on top.
"Now, let’s see what you recorded."
She opened the phone and saw the voice recording.
"What the...?"
She pressed play and heard Hanjon’s voice.
Her eyes filled with terror as she listened.
Her grip loosened, and she uncovered Jaster mouth.
"Look—" Jaster gasped for breath. "I’m trying to help you here!"
Annie ignored him and continued listening.
"Why is he talking about my dad like that...? And he’s going to post my pictures..."
Her face turned pale.
"And Amanda was in on this..."
Annie felt like she was going to puke and covered her mouth.
She tossed the phone onto Jaster chest and ran toward the bathroom.
Jaster lay on the floor, out of breath. He picked up his phone and replayed the recording.
After it finished, he stared lifelessly at the ceiling.
"Krrk?"
Purple jumped onto his chest and licked his face.
"Ew, Purple."
Jaster finally sat up and wiped his face with his shirt.
He stared at the phone screen and sighed.
"I understand now... This is the Jefferson character quest."
