My spirit animal is a F–Rank gecko-Chapter 21: The first special bond exam (7)
(Reza and Karina POV)
The two of them sat far away from each other, with the flag beside Karina.
It was an awkward silence, as they held themselves back from starting an argument.
Just then, a huge wind blew into the cave, bringing dust.
It got into Reza’s nose, and he sneezed hard—so loud that it echoed throughout the cave.
Karina burst out laughing, while Reza wiped his nose.
"What an ugly sneeze, lol."
"Says the girl who looked like a homeless hussy!"
Karina dramatically gasped.
"Says the wannabe himbo!" Karina quickly came up with a comeback.
Despite the both of them trying their hardest not to fight, it was inevitable, and they continued with their fourth fight.
"Who are you calling a himbo, yellow-toothed witch!"
"Witch? You act and LOOK like a fucking goblin, dumb shit."
"At least I don’t look like a character that only exists for fan service, and even then, only someone with horrendous taste would want you!"
"BITCH!"
Karina got up. She held the red flag and put it in front of Reza.
"THIS RIGHT HERE! IS YOU. WHAT A FUCKING RED FLAG AS A GUY. HOW DARE YOU INSULT A WOMAN LIKE THAT. IS THERE REALLY NO ONE TO TEACH YOU ANY MANNERS?!"
Karina screamed in front of Reza, but he too had enough of her.
He got up and threw the flag away.
"DON’T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT MY PERSONAL LIFE LIKE THAT, WHEN YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW MY LIFE!"
The both of them kept throwing comeback after comeback, until Reza said—
"That beautiful hair color is wasted on a human being like you!"
Reza turned around and sat facing the wall. He then lay down on the ground.
Karina was left speechless; she didn’t expect him to say something like that.
"Did... you just say my hair color is beautiful?"
Reza pouted his mouth.
"Don’t think it’s a compliment. I just think it’s wasted having the most beautiful color in a body with a nasty personality."
Karina was taken aback by what Reza said.
"Wait.. Do you even know what color this is?"
She brushed her bright purple hair.
Karina thought that Reza would just answer "purple," just like everyone else. But instead he said—
"Of course, it’s lilac. My favorite color of all time!"
Karina let out a huge gasp.
"What’s wrong?"
Reza asked, but still faced the wall.
"Lilac is my favorite color too!"
Reza’s eyes shot up. He got up and sat on the ground; he directly looked at Karina.
Both of them had the same shocked look on their faces—mouths agape, eyes wide open.
"Wait...." Karina drifted her eyes, thinking about something.
"What’s your favorite movie of all time?"
She asked Reza; he confidently said—
"Infinity Bond War.."
Karina, yet again, let out a huge gasp.
"THAT’S MY FAVORITE MOVIE TOO!"
Reza closed his mouth.
"Ok.. ok, let’s say our favorite things at the same time. Let’s go with... What’s your favorite food?"
They both said in unison.
"Cheese burger, with extra cheese and no onion—"
Both of them stopped and stared at each other before finishing their sentence.
"—since onion is bad for your breath."
Karina and Reza closed their mouths at the same time.
"Are we twins?" Karina smiled.
"No way! How are we so similar?"
"Ok, ok, I got a good one!"
Karina coughed a bit, then looked at Reza with full anticipation.
"What’s.... your celebrity crush?"
As if they both shared the same brain, Karina and Reza said in unison.
"Craig Billiard. Since he’s hot—"
Karina gasped.
"Wait... But Craig is a guy?"
Reza smiled a bit; he rubbed his blushing cheek.
"Yeah... I’m one of those weird kids."
This shocked Karina even more than she already was.
She leaped in and hugged Reza tightly.
He wasn’t expecting a sudden hug from his arch-nemesis, but the hug felt warm, so instead of pushing her away, he embraced it.
"I can’t believe it! I’ve always wanted to have a gay friend!"
Karina was practically jumping up and down, screaming out of excitement.
"Oh, you’re one of THOSE girls, I see..." Reza said teasingly.
Karina let go of the hug but still gripped Reza’s shoulders.
"No, of course not. But seeing how we practically share the same interests, I’m pretty sure we’re meant to be besties!"
Reza laughed while covering his mouth.
"I can’t believe it! Just a couple seconds ago, we were fighting our butts off. Having an enemies-to-friends moment wasn’t on my bingo list!"
They both shared a hug together while apologizing to one another.
The two of them continued their talk, but this time about who the hottest boy in Bondspire was.
"Have you seen Marcus?" Reza said while covering his mouth.
"Yeah, isn’t he the president of the student council?"
"I know, right! His neat blonde hair and gentleman-like personality... AGHHH!"
Reza was practically rolling on the ground screaming while kicking his legs.
"What? You have a crush on him? In my opinion, Adrien is way hotter."
"He’s hot; he’s honestly giving black cat personality. But I just like guys who are older than me, you know!"
Karina chuckled, seeing Reza’s face turning tomato red.
"Speaking of Adrien..." Karina’s voice all of sudden became low.
She whispered to Reza.
"Did you know about the fight in the cafeteria this morning?"
Reza’s ears perked; he tilted his head.
"No, I don’t think so, since I was in the men’s bathroom at the time."
Karina squealed; she got up from the rock she was sitting on and sat beside Reza.
"So... that morning, I saw Jaster had a fight with one of Cherrie’s friend group."
Karina whispered in his ear.
Reza was shocked; his eyebrows raised.
"Wait. Jaster from our team? This Jaster?"
"Yeah, Janster from our team!"
Karina nodded and continued on with the story.
"Apparently it’s because he bumped into Cherrie without apologizing, and because of that, one of her minions attacked Jaster in public!"
Reza let out a loud gasp.
"Really? I’m guessing it’s that hot-headed bitch Ruby. I’ve always hated her vibe."
"But that’s not even the hottest part of the story."
Reza was all ears. He positioned himself until he was comfortable.
"I saw Adrien help Jaster."
Reza gave Karina a confused look.
"What do you mean by ’help’?"
"So, Adrien threatened Ruby in front of the crowd, and that made her stop her attack on Jaster. But after everything was settling down, Jaster’s spirit animal attacked Adrien!"
Reza let out a huge gasp; he leaned in closer to Karina.
"After that, what happened?"
"I’m pretty sure Adrien went to the bathroom, and Jaster caught up to him."
Karina tapped the ground.
"Oh, no wonder I passed by Adrien going to the bathroom; he was looking so pissed. But back then, he looked so hot."
Karina touched her chin.
"There were also rumors about Adrien and Jaster being childhood friends. I don’t really know if that’s true. But people say that’s the reason Adrien is always so protective towards Jaster!"
Reza’s face dropped after hearing that; he started to look down, facing the ground.
"Wow. Lucky Jaster, having a hot childhood friend that cared deeply about him."
Karina noticed Reza’s change of mood and started to change the subject.
"Never mind about that. Let’s tell each other our favorite vacation spot!"
Reza smiled warmly at Karina; he appreciated her effort in trying to comfort him.
They both talked to each other while the sun shone brightly in the cave.
An unexpected bond was formed in this very cave, just as Jaster started appreciating Purple more.
Some might say that the Crying Maiden Pool had something to do with these unexpected events.....
