Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Stay at My Place

Li Yanan merely glanced at Yao Lemon, carrying his tools as he turned and entered the bathroom.

Soon enough, the sounds of clattering and banging rang out.

"Zhenxin, who is he?" Yao Lemon, who was utterly ignored, turned her face towards Lin Zhenxin.

"We got our marriage certificate today." Lin Zhenxin didn't aim to hide anything from her friend, as she reached a hand into her grandmother's clothes to check, realizing that even the thermal shirt inside was soaked through.

"What did you say?" It took Yao Lemon a full five seconds to react!

Did Lin Zhenxin just say she got the marriage certificate? She got the certificate? She... got the certificate?

The noise was as loud as thunder, and the old lady squatting on the sofa shivered, not knowing if she was cold or frightened.

"I'll change Grandma's clothes first." Lin Zhenxin glanced at Yao Lemon, knowing she needed time to digest the news.

Supporting her grandmother into the inner room, the elderly lady sat obediently, her face lined with wrinkles and expression sluggish, only occasionally letting out a silly chuckle. Lin Zhenxin took some clean clothes from the wardrobe and helped her change.

"Grandma, I got married."

Lin Zhenxin spoke seriously to the elderly lady, though she knew in her confused state, her grandmother couldn't respond.

As expected, there was no response.

Just as she was almost done changing the clothes, a knock came from outside the door.

"Hold on, just a moment." She called out, and sure enough, it quieted down outside.

After two minutes, Lin Zhenxin opened the door from the inside and immediately saw Li Yanan standing right in front of her.

"Your friend said she needed some peace and went back first." Li Yanan spoke without any expression, his sleeves still rolled up to his elbows, revealing the muscles on his forearms.

Some peace? Lin Zhenxin was momentarily stunned, then realized that meant Lemon needed some time to cool down!

"I'm sorry." She saw that most of his clothes were soaked through and felt quite apologetic that Li Yanan, who originally came to meet her grandmother, encountered such an incident.

"Did you cause the water pipe to burst?" Li Yanan asked coldly, and Lin Zhenxin instinctively shook her head, not understanding what he meant.

"Then why are you apologizing?"

Lin Zhenxin looked at him blankly and quickly burst into laughter.

Seeing her laugh, the warmth in Li Yanan's eyes behind his glasses increased a bit, though he remained stoic.

"The water pipe is fixed, but tonight you should stay at my place. I'll have someone come over and clean up."

Upon hearing this, Lin Zhenxin hesitated. Stay at his place?

Li Yanan didn't pressure her, despite his clothes being mostly wet; he calmly picked up his phone to contact someone to clean the place.

Lin Zhenxin stood there dazed, finding it hard to connect the man in front of her with the one who was insulted during their first meeting.

When Li Yanan hung up the phone and turned around, he saw Lin Zhenxin standing there, her pupils unfocused and standing dazed.

The soft sunlight made the small two-bedroom apartment feel particularly homey, especially with the little ornaments that seemed to be carefully selected.

"I still have to go to work at the station in the afternoon. I won't be back home until the evening. You and my grandma..."

Lin Zhenxin felt a bit uneasy.

"I'll pick you up tonight," Li Yanan cut off the rest of what Lin Zhenxin wanted to say with just one sentence. After several attempts to speak, she finally resigned under Li Yanan's gaze and turned around to pack her things.

During this time, she heard the property staff returning, seemingly discussing compensation matters, but when she was about to walk out, Li Yanan's gaze sent her back to her room.
