My Possessive CEO: Trembling in His Arms-Chapter 159: "Watch and Learn.
In Renee Winslow’s view, Jack Yates is definitely not someone driven by emotions, even though she wishes he were.
But she knows he isn’t.
Jack Yates’ ambition is written plainly on his face, without any attempt to hide it.
How could such an ambitious and power-driven man sacrifice a promising future for her?
Even now, his presence with her against his family’s wishes is just another demonstration of his power.
So Renee Winslow never imagined she could truly be with Jack Yates. It wasn’t even worth considering unless he chose her over power.
But if Jack Yates were such a person, he wouldn’t have achieved what he has today.
He could have easily been a carefree and unambitious man, but he strives to be the best, volunteering to be stationed at borders and risking his life to fight drug trafficking in The Gilded Delta. And for what, partly to protect his country and partly to prove his capability.
How could such a person not be ambitious?
Might as well carve the word "ambition" on his forehead.
After Renee Winslow asked her question, she looked gently at Jack Yates, with a soft smile on her lips.
Her words were merely a question, without any aggressive force.
Jack Yates looked at her gentle and obedient demeanor and should have felt comforted, but he instead felt blocked, not just blocked but accompanied by a sharp pain, as if a venomous snake had entered his heart, continuing to coil and bite.
The words of Renee Winslow, like Russell Yates’ words, acted as two venomous snakes biting at his heart.
It was the first time Jack Yates had utterly lost in something.
Jack Yates laughed, lowering his eyes, his laughter was cold and piercing.
"Yes, you’re right." he laughed as he approached Renee Winslow’s face, looking sharply into her eyes, "I certainly can’t marry you because you’re not qualified to be my wife."
He protects her at all costs, but she always retreats.
Renee Winslow interpreted this as Jack Yates thinking she wasn’t fit to be his wife.
Although it was an expected answer, it still brought a sour, dull ache.
"Yeah." She bowed her head, with a self-deprecating smile, "I wasn’t worthy, to begin with."
-
During the meal, neither spoke, only the sound of utensils clinking and chewing.
Renee Winslow held her bowl rigidly, taking small bites of rice, occasionally picking at the vegetables in front of her.
A pair of chopsticks suddenly reached over, placing a piece of rib in her bowl.
Renee Winslow looked up, Jack Yates had already withdrawn his chopsticks, and said in a low voice, "Eat."
Jack Yates kept adding food to her bowl until it overflowed, then stopped.
Renee Winslow looked at the small mountain in her bowl, took a deep breath, lowered her head, and ate vigorously!
After finishing, she let out a long breath.
Unknown to her, the rush of eating brought a blush to her cheeks, making her look even more alluring in Jack Yates’ eyes, like a blatant invitation.
Jack Yates swallowed, his Adam’s apple moving quickly, and asked in a deep voice, "Are you full yet?"
Renee Winslow nodded quickly, "Yes, I’m full!"
Afraid of a slow response, Jack Yates might serve her another bowl.
Jack Yates gave a deep, meaningful smile, "But I’m not full yet."
Renee Winslow glanced at the leftovers, her face warming, asked softly, "Would you like to order a couple more dishes?"
Jack Yates leaned in closer, pressing his thumb against her moist lips, in a deep, magnetic voice, "You know what I want to eat."
Renee Winslow’s face burned even hotter, as if on fire.
-
Her back against the door, waist tightly grasped by strong hands, a hot kiss landed on her neck.
Renee Winslow shivered, pushing against his muscular shoulders, "No, not yet."
As her voice fell, a sudden pain hit her neck.
Jack Yates suppressed his impetuousness, biting her lightly, lifting his head to look at her with deep, dark eyes, breathing heavily.
Renee Winslow explained softly, "Just finished eating, can’t engage in vigorous activities."
Jack Yates gave a low laugh, pecked her lips lightly, and said huskily, "You never exert yourself, always like a lazy little pig, yet constantly humming and making demands."
Embarrassed by his shameless words, Renee Winslow retorted red-faced, "You’re the pig! Besides, you’re so strong, even if I don’t move, it feels like a roller coaster ride."
Jack Yates laughed out loud, cupping her face with both hands, speaking hoarsely, "Baby, your man isn’t there yet, don’t make me sound so terrifying."
Renee Winslow: "..."
This shameless man!
Though Jack Yates spoke flirtatiously, he released her, not forcing further kisses.
The afternoon sun was just right, warm autumn sunlight flooding the room through panoramic windows.
Renee Winslow changed into a loose cotton home outfit, tied her smooth black hair into two braids, and nestled on the sofa watching TV.
She watched an old art film about love.
Jack Yates wasn’t as idle; shortly after entering the room, his phone rang, and he took calls on the balcony, three in a row.
When he returned, the film reached a scene of the protagonist kissing passionately.
The blond male lead kissed the voluptuous blonde female lead, moving toward the bed.
Seeing Jack Yates enter, Renee Winslow hurriedly picked up the remote to fast forward.
Jack Yates stopped her hand, "Watch and learn."
Renee Winslow glanced at the TV, "It’s not real, what can I learn?"
Jack Yates leaned towards her, "Then watch a real one?"
Renee Winslow: "..."
Jack Yates propped one hand on the sofa, caressing her face with the other, asking in a deep, seductive voice, "Have you ever watched?"
Renee Winslow shook her head, "No, never watched."
Jack Yates nipped her lip with a smile, lowered his voice to a whisper, "Shall we watch one together?"
Renee Winslow’s heart raced, her face reddening like it was on fire.
Suppressing her racing heart, she bit her lip and asked softly, "Have you watched one?"
Jack Yates asked back instead of answering, "What do you think?"
