My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister-Chapter 146 - 102: Sisters Temporarily in One Body, an 18-Year-Old Boy Is Cruelly Deceived
So the shoe cabinet at the entrance was just the tip of the iceberg. This was where the real collection was!
There were over twenty pairs of high heels in various colors. Not to mention the slip-on flats and sneakers, which were also separated into two different types. She also had more than ten pairs of leather shoes, both high-heeled and low-heeled.
There was even a pair of small leather shoes with pink lace, the kind Chen Yuan had only ever seen at anime conventions.
The kind lolitas wear. He had never seen Jiang Yao wear them.
'Maybe she just keeps them here for decoration.'
"Can you even wear all these shoes?"
"Of course. Sometimes I feel like I need to buy more."
"Huh?"
But shoes seemed more aesthetically pleasing than clothes. As Chen Yuan spoke, his gaze remained fixed on the shoe rack.
'Why do I find this so weirdly attractive?'
He tore his gaze away, but it involuntarily drifted to Jiang Yao's feet.
She was wearing white cotton slippers, revealing her delicate pink toes. Her nails were neatly trimmed, round, and smooth, looking utterly adorable.
Noticing Chen Yuan's gaze, Jiang Yao's toes tensed up and curled.
"Young Master, please don't keep staring... It's quite embarrassing."
"Ahem, they're pretty. I like looking."
"Tch, you've learned to be a smooth-talker now! Hmph~"
Jiang Yao tapped his lips with her finger and pulled him out of the walk-in closet. "And this is the living room, where I usually eat. I didn't buy a dining table, so I normally just eat at the coffee table. I absolutely love this one."
She took a few nimble steps over, picked up the recently brewed coffee, and took a sip, making a satisfied sound.
She then handed it to Chen Yuan.
"Here. The temperature is just right."
Chen Yuan also took a sip of the coffee, taking a longer look at the multi-level sintered stone coffee table.
But then his gaze shifted to something even more noteworthy, and his eyebrows shot up.
Even the sofa was two-toned, covered with different blankets—one side light, the other dark.
Opposite the sofa, an expensive-looking TV was mounted on the wall, flanked by tall glass television cabinets.
On the cabinets were many of Jiang Yao's favorite anime characters. Chen Yuan spotted the pin he had given her, along with a miniature Straw Hat Pirates figurine, assembled building blocks, and old manga magazines.
He was surprised to see some magazines that he had read before.
The other cabinet, however, was filled with completely different items. There were all sorts of books, mostly philosophy, including obscure and difficult titles like *Critique of Pure Reason*, *Being and Nothingness*, and *The Social Contract*.
There were a few tins of what looked like very expensive tea, but their packaging was sealed, appearing unopened.
There was also a round glass tank with two black river turtles inside.
They hadn't even checked the most important room, the bedroom, yet Chen Yuan was already completely bewildered. Unable to hold back any longer, he looked at Jiang Yao, his impatience showing.
"Why is everything in your home in two different styles? The clothes, the shoes, the decorations... This is a bit unusual."
"This... is what I wanted to tell you."
Jiang Yao took a deep breath and stood there formally, her expression indescribably serious. But a flicker of discernible sadness suddenly crossed her glistening eyes.
She looked at Chen Yuan and said softly, "Young Master, our relationship has reached this point. We're about to go on a trip together, and my feelings for you have grown stronger. If I keep hiding some things, I feel too guilty... The truth is, I have a mental illness."
Her tone was tentative and extremely cautious. "I'm sure you've noticed some things, right?"
In that instant.
The wind seemed to stand still.
Chen Yuan stood frozen, his expression completely unreadable.
Jiang Yao's eyes widened slightly as she tried to gauge his reaction.
She didn't know how much time had passed, but those few seconds felt agonizingly long, like an entire century.
Finally, Chen Yuan let out a soft "Mm," and asked, "And?"
"This mental condition... it means I have personalities with different traits... Medically, it's called schizophrenia. It's not a particularly rare illness, so there are actually two people living inside me, and they like different things." Jiang Yao furrowed her brow. A moment later, she suddenly covered her cheeks. "I really didn't mean to hide it from you! But I was afraid that if I told you, you'd ignore me..."
"No wonder!"
Chen Yuan actually seemed relieved, a look of liberated understanding on his face. He scratched his head and said, "I kept wondering why you had such a huge contrast in your personality, way beyond the normal range. So there really is an issue."
"Yeah. We've been together for so many days, I knew you'd notice something. I thought before our trip would be the right time to come clean. You have the right to know the truth!"
"So..."
"So, right now, I'm Yaoyao. But the me at school, as soon as I'm in that specific environment, I become Ningning!" Jiang Yao's expression was incredibly serious, not looking like she was joking in the slightest!
She was a perfect actress. Coming from anyone else, those words would have been unbelievably awkward.
But when Chen Yuan looked at her expression, he actually saw two parts pain, three parts struggle, and five parts relief!
'What heaven-defying acting.'
Chen Yuan's brows furrowed. His suspicions from the past few days were confirmed. Of course he was surprised, just not *that* surprised.
During the tour just now, the two styles were just too obvious. It wasn't something a single, normal person would do.
"I didn't tell you I lived across the hall because I was afraid you'd come to my apartment and discover all this. I don't want to lose the love I've worked so hard to find... Chen Yuan, I'm sorry." Jiang Yao's eyes welled up with tears, her voice filled with both regret and self-reproach.
