My Multiple Identities Revealed After Marrying the Bigshot-Chapter 99: Zhou Shuyan, You Are Not Allowed In!
Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Zhou Shuyan, You Are Not Allowed In!
Jingmin indicated that although she understood Shuyan’s need to head to the company first, she was still mad!
"Going to the company first is fine, but couldn’t he at least give me a call to let me know he’s safe?" Jingmin found out in the afternoon that Shuyan went to the company first, and she hadn’t thought of this point until now.
Filled with mixed emotions—excitement, relief, and finally some peace—she waited at home until the thought suddenly struck her: Even if that damned kid went to the company first, surely he wasn’t so busy that he couldn’t even make a call to check in with her?
The more Jingmin thought about it, the angrier she got.
Since Shuyan was already safe, she had to teach that boy a lesson!
"You tell him, ’You only think to come back now?’" Jingmin said to Aunt Yao.
Aunt Yao: "..."
"Madam, you’re right here, why don’t you talk to the young master yourself?" What’s she making me do, getting caught in the middle like this!
"Do you think I’d let him hear my voice that easily?" Jingmin pressed her fingertips against her temples, feigning unsteadiness, "Just tell him, ’I’m feeling unwell.’"
Aunt Yao: "..."
"I have to make him worry a bit!" Jingmin held her forehead, her voice weak yet frantic as she leaned against the wall.
Aunt Yao didn’t know how Jingmin managed to do it.
But then she thought about the performance Jingmin had put on when Yu Zeqin was away, which was even more realistic than now.
Aunt Yao suddenly didn’t think it was a big deal.
She pressed the intercom button, still unable to suppress her excitement, "Young Master, you’re back!"
Shuyan chuckled and said helplessly, "Aunt Yao, please open the door for me."
Aunt Yao was in a dilemma, "Young Master, Madam said, ’You only think to come back now?’"
"I just got back today." Shuyan explained helplessly.
"Ma..."
Before Aunt Yao could finish, Jingmin couldn’t help but interject, "Is that what I’m talking about? I understand you had business at the company when you came back today. But couldn’t you have called me from the road first? Or at least a call after you were done at the company to let me know you’re safe."
Shuyan explained with a wry smile, "It’s not that I didn’t want to tell you, I was afraid of the call being monitored."
"My side here is secure, no tampering. But just to be safe." Shuyan continued to explain, "You’ve always been living here, and I’ve been away recently. There have been too many opportunities for someone to mess with things. No one except Yu Zeqin and Zhang Tianhai knew I was going to the company today. I wanted to catch them off guard by doing so. I was afraid if I called you in advance, even Zhou Xueyi would find out."
Jingmin considered this and felt it made sense, quickly segueing into her next point, "Okay, it wasn’t suitable to call me before you went, but what about after you finished at the company? Why didn’t you think to call and let me know you were okay?"
"This indeed was an oversight on my part," Shuyan immediately admitted his mistake. "I only thought about calling you, but if you couldn’t help asking for details, it wouldn’t be prudent to discuss them over the phone. I thought it would be better to talk it through once I got back, but I overlooked the simple need to make that call."
Hearing Shuyan say this, Jingmin was at a loss for words and could only let out a dissatisfied "Hmph."
Shuyan was about to seize the opportunity to cheer Jingmin up and have her open the door, when a black Red Flag car slowly stopped behind his own.
The lights of the Red Flag car illuminated him and, as the car door opened, a cane touched the ground first.
Then, an old man, squinting, emerged from the car, using the cane for support, and peered through his glasses saying, "Yo, isn’t that Shuyan?"
"Grandfather." Shuyan hadn’t expected Old Master Zhou to come.
After Mrs. Zhou passed away five years ago, Old Master Zhou found the mansion too big and lonely for one person, so he moved to a village on the outskirts of the Imperial Capital.
He bought a residential plot, and also bought some farmland.
Unlike farmers who focus intently on farming one kind of crop.
The old man’s plot of land wasn’t large; he grew a bit of all sorts of vegetables.
Worried that he wouldn’t have the stamina or strength to tend to the crops due to his age, he paid the villagers to care for his farmland and, while they were at it, tend to his plot too.
Old Master Zhou’s plot wasn’t difficult to manage, and it provided others with extra income, so they were happy to help.
The old man didn’t completely neglect his field just because he hired help, and would sometimes join in the joys of the countryside.
He even raised chickens, ducks, cattle, and geese in the courtyard of his home, having fresh eggs and milk every day, learning to milk the cows himself.
When he had an excess of eggs, he’d have some sent over to Jingmin, along with milk.
"Why don’t you come in?" Old Master Zhou asked Shuyan.
Shuyan explained helplessly, "Mom is mad I didn’t call to report my safety when I got back, so she won’t let me in."
"That’s not right of you," Old Master Zhou nodded.
"..." Shuyan asked, "Grandfather, why did you..."
"Well, I heard you were back too, didn’t I? I didn’t get a call from you either. Figuring you must have forgotten about me, I had to come over myself," the old man pressed down on his cane and said with a wry smile.
Shuyan: "..."
"Father!" Jingmin’s voice immediately came through the intercom.
"Hey! Maybe you’ll let me in first?" Old Master Zhou spoke into the intercom.
"Of course!" Jingmin hurriedly opened the door, "Dad, please come in. Shuyan, you’re not allowed in!"
Old Master Zhou gave Shuyan a smug look and happily walked back to his car.
"Grandfather..." Shuyan wanted to ask the old man to plead his case.
Just as Old Master Zhou reached the car and before getting in, he sneakily gave Shuyan an "OK" sign.
Old Master Zhou got into the car, and the gate to the mansion began to open slowly. As his car had just entered halfway, Jingmin’s warning voice came through the intercom, "You’re not to follow in!"
Shuyan: "..."
"If you tell me not to come in, I certainly wouldn’t dare," Shuyan said as humbly as possible.
Jingmin’s lips curved slightly at Shuyan’s demeanor, finally not so angry anymore.
Aunt Yao was waiting at the gate, having already opened the door in advance.
Before long, Old Master Zhou’s car came to a stop at the entrance.
Old Master Zhou slowly got out of the car and entered.
Jingmin had heard all of Old Master Zhou’s conversation with Shuyan outside.
She then said, "Dad, it’s all because Shuyan doesn’t understand, not even letting you know he’s safe, and making you come all this way so late."
"As long as the child is safe, that’s what matters," Old Master Zhou shook his head, "You just saw Shuyan on the screen, didn’t you?"
Jingmin nodded, "I did, but it’s not very clear at night."
After hesitating for a moment, Jingmin couldn’t help but ask, "Dad, how does Shuyan look to you?"
"You know me, I’m getting old, my eyes aren’t what they used to be, I only glanced briefly," Old Master Zhou’s mouth drooped a bit, "Moreover, it’s night, it’s not very clear."
