My Multiple Identities Revealed After Marrying the Bigshot-Chapter 96: Second Uncle, do you not plan to give this position back to me?
Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Second Uncle, do you not plan to give this position back to me?
"Come in," Zhou Shuyan said indifferently.
Qiu Wanyun was, of course, extremely reluctant to ride an elevator with Zhou Shuyan, but at that moment, he had no choice but to steel himself and enter.
It was then that Yu Zeqin released the elevator button he had been pressing all along.
Standing slightly behind and beside Zhou Shuyan, Qiu Wanyun could barely catch a glimpse of Zhou Shuyan’s shoulder, his knees going weak with nervousness.
Soon, the elevator reached the 25th floor.
As the elevator doors opened, Zhou Shuyan stepped out first, followed by Yu Zeqin, who didn’t forget to pause and beckon Qiu Wanyun, "Vice President Qiu, come quick."
Qiu Wanyun cursed to himself, now you fucking remember me.
Qiu Wanyun then thought back to when Zhou Shuyan wasn’t around, Yu Zeqin, although not changing his job position, had been assigned trivial and inconsequential tasks by Zhou Xueyi.
Yu Zeqin didn’t show any dissatisfaction, because he didn’t have much work to do; he clocked in and out from nine to five daily, displaying an attitude that accepted the reality very obediently.
He would never have guessed that Yu Zeqin was in contact with Zhou Shuyan behind everyone’s back.
He didn’t believe Yu Zeqin only found out about Zhou Shuyan’s return that day; as an assistant who had been trusted by Zhou Shuyan for many years, Yu Zeqin must have known well in advance.
This guy was really like a silent dog that bites, not showing the slightest hint of what was going on, catching everyone by surprise!
At that moment, Zhou Shuyan also stopped in his tracks, turning back to look at Qiu Wanyun still inside the elevator, and chuckled with a hint of mockery, "Vice President Qiu, aren’t you joining us? I’m heading to the conference room as well."
Qiu Wanyun had no choice but to toughen up and step out.
He had a premonition that his tenure as vice president was coming to an end.
But he hadn’t been in the position for long!
The three words "Vice President Qiu" coming out of Zhou Shuyan’s mouth were full of mockery.
As the three of them reached the conference room door, Qiu Wanyun thought about putting on a good show; perhaps Zhou Shuyan might let him off lightly, or even let him continue as vice president.
Just as he eagerly tried to open the door for Zhou Shuyan, Zhou Shuyan stopped him with a hand.
Qiu Wanyun was puzzled why Zhou Shuyan wasn’t entering when the voices of conversation came from inside the conference room.
"How are Zheng Jingwei and Shao Yunbo doing now?"
"The two of them are still honestly staying in the subsidiary company."
"These two, surely they don’t still think that our former CEO could return, do they?"
"Those two, after all, were once general managers and vice presidents of our group. We thought that sending them away would be unbearable for them, a humiliation they couldn’t stand. It turns out they could really stay put."
"They are indeed very loyal to Zhou Shuyan."
"Isn’t Gu Shenglang the same? We can’t move him just yet, letting him occupy the vice president position, but we’ve already rendered his power hollow. Yet, he can still sit tight."
"What about those following them? They haven’t left, have they?"
"Those are just small fry; I’m not even sure what they’re holding out for."
"Take it slow, no hurry," Zhou Xueyi’s calm voice came from the conference room, sounding as if he had everything under control.
Qiu Wanyun was going crazy just listening from outside, his legs trembling like a sieve.
He didn’t even dare to look at Zhou Shuyan’s expression.
With Zhou Shuyan present, he dared not raise his voice to warn the others.
"What’s the matter with Old Qiu? Why hasn’t he arrived yet?" someone from inside called out, "He’s the only one we’re waiting for."
"Vice President Qiu, we’re waiting for you," Zhou Shuyan laughed and gestured with his chin towards the door, "Come in."
Qiu Wanyun: "..."
He didn’t want to go in at all; he even didn’t want to stay there anymore.
"You’re not coming in?" Zhou Shuyan raised an eyebrow and scoffed coldly, "Then I’m going in."
With that, Zhou Shuyan pushed open the large conference room door, "Gentlemen, long time no see."
Qiu Wanyun thought to take the opportunity to leave.
His position was certainly untenable; he even thought about going back to prepare his resignation letter right then.
Better than being caught in the vortex at that moment.
But just as he turned to leave, Yu Zeqin blocked his way, "Vice President Qiu, let’s go in for the meeting together."
After saying that, Yu Zeqin pushed Qiu Wanyun inside and closed the conference room door behind them.
Everyone froze at the sight of Zhou Shuyan.
One almost fell off his chair.
As if turned to stone all at once, they stared dumbfounded at Zhou Shuyan.
"Uncle, I’m back." Zhou Shuyan said with a smile playing at his lips, yet his gaze was piercingly cold.
Zhou Xueyi clenched his teeth tightly, took a deep breath, and fixed his eyes on Zhou Shuyan.
Zhou Shuyan slightly lowered his gaze and tapped his knuckles twice on the thick conference table, "Uncle, aren’t you going to return this position to me?"
Qiu Wanyun thought to himself, your uncle has barely warmed up the seat.
Zhou Xueyi eventually snapped out of it, feeling as though a bomb had been dropped in his heart.
After the explosion, it took a long time to calm down.
Finally, clenching his teeth, he managed to regain some composure.
He stood up abruptly and hugged Zhou Shuyan tightly, rubbing his eyes hard while Zhou Shuyan couldn’t see, "Shuyan, you’re back! It’s good that you’re back!"
When he let go of Zhou Shuyan, tears could be seen in Zhou Xueyi’s eyes.
"What on earth happened to you? How could you disappear for so long?" Zhou Xueyi asked anxiously, "By the way, have you been home yet?"
Zhou Shuyan answered with a cold smile, "I came to see the situation at the company first. I was actually startled by the personnel changes here. I heard that uncle is now using my office?"
Zhou Xueyi’s expression stiffened and he forced a laugh, "Working in your office is more convenient. After all, as I am acting in your place as CEO, my original position also needs someone to fill in."
"You’re back, and that’s good. I’ll have someone clear out the office right away," Zhou Xueyi said, meaning later, but who knew when that would be.
With the intention to delay, now that the company was filled with his people, what difference did it make that Zhou Shuyan was back?
If they wouldn’t give him the office, the company had none of his people.
He could still keep Zhou Shuyan powerless.
"No need to wait until later, I’ve already sent someone to clear the office," Zhou Shuyan shoved Zhou Xueyi aside and sat in the spot where Zhou Xueyi had been sitting.
Zhou Xueyi’s face twitched, and he suppressed the rage as he said, "You’ve just returned, why not rest properly?"
"I’ve been away for less than two months, and the company has already changed this much. How could I dare to rest easily?" Zhou Shuyan gestured for the others to sit down, "Sit down. This is a good opportunity to tell me about the contents of today’s meeting."
The people exchanged glances. What could they say?
They were supposed to discuss how to consolidate total control over the group’s power.
How could they tell Zhou Shuyan that?
No one dared to speak, and the air in the meeting room became so still it was suffocating.
"Why are you all silent?" Zhou Shuyan waited a while, but seeing that no one spoke up, he said, "Is this the new high-level team that you, uncle, chose? Can’t even say what today’s meeting was about?"
