My Life as a Farm Owner in a Thriller World-Chapter 111: Yucai Middle School 12
Zhang Minglan kept smiling, listening quietly as Wan Qian spoke. When Wan Qian finished, she spoke:
"Ms. Wan, what you've said is not without reason. I'll be sure to raise these concerns with the principal."
Here she paused.
"My apologies, Ms. Wan. The principal is currently away on some matters and cannot return yet, which is why he hasn't been able to receive you in person.
It truly isn't the school's intention to show neglect. He'll be back tomorrow, and there will be a welcome ceremony prepared in your honor. We hope you'll stay the night on campus."
Wan Qian looked out the window; the sky had already darkened. For a fleeting moment—whether it was a trick of her mind, she couldn't tell— Wan Qian felt as if the school were an isolated island floating in empty space.
Inside the campus, each classroom was brightly lit. Outside, there was nothing but silent darkness, stretching endlessly.
And beyond the campus, she could hear no sound at all. No cars passing on the streets, no horns blaring—nothing.
Her gloom over the excrement-like food finally began to lift.
Ah well, the look of the food was only a small blemish. Minor flaws should not obscure the school's merits.
Even the choice of location showed thoughtfulness: a secluded site, free from the disturbances of the outside world, ensuring students' studies were undisturbed.
Wan Qian couldn't help but recall her own high school days. Her school had stood beside a construction site. The ceaseless noise had made concentration impossible.
Back then, she'd heard that the best schools were often built deep in the mountains, far from distraction. Clearly, Yucai High School was such a place.
"Then I'll trouble your school. It's so late now—returning to the farm with my butler would be inconvenient. We'll just stay here for the night."
Wan Qian was placed in a single dorm room. The accommodations were simple, but since she'd once lived in both high school and university dorms, she took it well. That night she lay down, and before long was fast asleep.
Inside the teachers' office building restroom. Who knew how much time had passed? The two unconscious figures on the floor slowly awoke.
What had happened? Yang Fan rubbed his throbbing head. His memory was a blur of broken fragments.
The human body, when struck by excessive terror, sometimes shielded itself by forgetting. Could it be that he had witnessed something too dreadful, so he could not recall it?
But if it had been that horrific—why was he still alive?
Yang Fan closed his eyes and painfully tried to recall, but only fragments came back to him.
It seemed he and He Fei had been punished by the Dean of Students, forced to clean the bathrooms in the faculty building.
The faculty building bathrooms—marked as a forbidden place in Yucai High School. No investigator had ever survived it.
And yet, he was still alive... Had he seen something before losing consciousness?
What was it? Instinctively, Yang Fan tilted his head back to look at the ceiling.
That enormous "eye" came back into his vision once more.
Yang Fan silently opened his mouth, forcing out a small gasp. His eyes rolled back, and he passed out again.
The "eye" blinked slowly.
Mm... do nothing.
It had promised—to work for the boss.
The boss had told it... to do nothing.
Obey... the boss.
Deep in the night.
A creature covered head to toe in feathers flew into Yucai High School from who knows where.
Its head was a mass of soft blood vessels, swaying like seaweed, tasting the air for scents.
At last it stopped at a dormitory window.
"Mu...m...ma...mama..."
......
Inside the dormitory, the night dorm supervisor was making rounds. It was so quiet, one could hear a pin drop.
Yun Jin lay on her bed, eyes closed, hands folded neatly over her abdomen, her posture impeccably proper.
She could clearly hear the dorm supervisor dragging her footsteps from the first floor, slowly making her way to the second floor where Yun Jin was.
The dorm supervisor paused at the stairs on the second floor for a moment, then began checking each door in order, gently pushing them open.
In her mind, Yun Jin silently reviewed the Yucai High School Dormitory Rules: "Nighttime is for sleeping; students should ensure adequate rest."
Suddenly, a creaking sound came from the friction of the iron bed frame. Yun Jin's eyelashes twitched slightly, but she did not open her eyes.
The next moment, she felt a damp, cold breath brush against her cheek. It seemed something was leaning down, bringing its face close to hers.
"Hoo... hoo..." The breath carried a wet, inhuman chill, hovering around Yun Jin's face and neck.
She did not even furrow her brow. Instead, she consciously relaxed her body, trying to appear even more natural, as if she were truly asleep.
"Huff... huff... Classmate, that scar on your face is so ugly... It's okay, I know a way to fix it..."
"Are you asleep? Heehee... It's fine, I know you can hear me. I really do have a way... listen to me..."
The low, whispering voice sounded right by her ear, rustling softly. Its tone was familiar—almost friendly—so much so that Yun Jin felt a slight illusion, as if it were an ordinary night and a sleepless girl was secretly gossiping in the dorm.
Suddenly, Yun Jin heard the jingle of a key outside the dorm room.
The dorm supervisor had arrived. Yun Jin's alertness spiked. At the same time, she focused even harder on keeping her breathing steady and her body relaxed.
Afher the dorm supervisor pushed the door open, Yun Jin clearly felt the damp, cold breath that had hovered over her vanish.
The dorm supervisor stood at the doorway, peering inside, her gaze lingering a little longer on Yun Jin.
Before long, Yun Jin heard a footsteps approaching her bed.
"You..." The dorm supervisor's voice was low and grim as she stood before Yun Jin's bed. "So late at night, and someone's still not asleep?"
Yun Jin made not a single sound. She even did her utmost to control the beating of her heart in her chest.
"I already heard voices outside just now. Who hasn't gone to sleep yet? Own up, don't make me catch you."
The dormitory remained utterly silent. It seemed as though everyone was sound asleep.
The dorm supervisor stood there for a while, but got no response.
Finally, after a full five minutes, Yun Jin heard the footsteps retreat toward the door, followed by the sound of the door softly clicking shut against its frame.
Yun Jin still did not dare relax, maintaining her posture and lying quietly on the bed.
Roughly half an hour later, the student sleeping above Yun Jin stirred and mumbled something indistinct.
Cautiously, Yun Jin opened her eyes just a slit.
A figure stood there, right in front of her bed!
