My Lady Always Lacks Ambition-Chapter 938 - 918: The Truth Revealed, Planting Life (Part 2)
The Great General’s hand paused, and he crouched down, letting out a sorrowful cry.
Feng Xiu looked at Qin Liuxi, wondering what to do.
Qin Liuxi said, "Stop crying, call your men over. There’s more to do."
The Great General’s cries ceased abruptly. He took out a signal flare from his waist and launched it. Shortly, people arrived to receive orders.
"Have them detain everyone in this mansion, and surround it, including the neighboring Luan Family." The Great General ordered coldly.
"Yes."
"Let’s go." Qin Liuxi dragged Luan Bailin in one hand and pulled the barely breathing Qingfeng Taoist in the other, heading to the area where they had previously sensed something was amiss.
In the northwest, by the lake, stood a beautifully intricate Hexagonal Pavilion, with small towers on each sloping side, adorned with bells that tinkled crisply in the breeze.
She dropped them, leaped to the top of the pavilion, and surveyed the surroundings. Her left hand fingers swiftly calculated, then she glanced down at the pavilion.
The Golden Fortune Energy covered the entire mansion, emanating from here; this pavilion is the Array Core of the life planting stake.
And now, a faint resentful aura intertwined with the Golden Fortune Energy around the pavilion.
"Is it here?" Feng Xiu asked.
Qin Liuxi jumped off the pavilion, took a drop of blood from the Great General, flicked it with her finger towards the pavilion, and quickly performed a mantra on the Blood Pearl, drawing a bloodline from the pearl down to below the pavilion.
"Here it is." Qin Liuxi said to the Great General, "Get people to dismantle the pavilion."
The Great General staggered, coldness shooting up his spine as he looked at the Hexagonal Pavilion, his face turning pale.
Luan Bailin, just awoke from a faint, stiffened upon hearing about dismantling the pavilion and instinctively cried out in fear, "No..."
Smack.
Qin Liuxi sent a palm strike, causing Luan Bailin to double over in pain and faint again.
"So noisy!" Her eyes filled with disgust.
The Great General called for people, and soon the area was brightly lit, as they began dismantling the pavilion. The commotion was so loud that neighbors poked their heads out, wondering what was happening?
Lord Zuo, feeling a chill throughout his body, swallowed hard, "Why was it buried here?"
Poor Old Zheng, the father searching for his daughter for three long years, unaware that she was always in this city, just half an hour’s carriage ride from Zheng Mansion.
Qin Liuxi coldly stated, "I’ve said they seek something great, one Zheng Family isn’t enough; they want to climb high, achieve noble destiny, and Miss Zheng’s birth dates are extremely noble. Using her to plant the life stake can ensure the Golden Fortune Energy is sustained, smooth official paths, and ascend to nobility, just a matter of days."
Lord Zuo drew in a frigid breath, "What is a life planting stake?"
"Also known as hitting the life stake, it’s essentially using living humans as sacrifices in a new building; like a bridge with a life stake to make it a guardian spirit. For building structures, like this mansion, it can enhance auspicious fortune. Of course, some use child boys and girls, others use exceptionally noble life charts for sacrifice. Regardless of who is used, it’s a sinister form of evil magic." Qin Liuxi explained indifferently, "Finding a child boy or girl with precious life charts isn’t impossible, but challenging, as not everyone easily discloses their birth dates. If there’s one in front with a more valuable life chart than a child boy or girl, you know how they’d choose."
Everyone looked at the unconscious Luan Bailin on the ground.
The Great General’s eyes blazed with hatred, wishing to tear him apart.
"Absurd! Does this evil magic even work?" Lord Zuo, a principled man, was furious upon hearing such vile matters, turning his face blue with rage.
Yet, no matter his anger, the reality was undeniable; people were doing this.
Qin Liuxi’s voice was low, not directly answering, "In just three years, Luan Bailin rose several ranks, smoothly advancing. His background was merely farming and studying. How many major families with abundant resources haven’t achieved such rapid promotion in a few years, and yet he has?"
Lord Zuo felt a choking sensation, looking at Luan Bailin, grinding his teeth, "I must file ten petitions against him."
"I advise against it. Exposing such uncanny evil magic might attract attention from many who would want to replicate." Feng Xiu said coolly, "Among the powerful, who doesn’t desire authority, to quickly ascend? Especially those with power and influence. In such a case, only the defenseless, poor populace would silently disappear, unbeknownst to anyone."
It wasn’t him advocating conspiracy theories; it’s just that when there’s a self-interest-driven person everywhere, knowing this can be done, can they not be tempted?
