My Idol System: An Idol, But Also A Savior-Chapter 196: New Meme
[These two don’t seem very chill, do they?]
[They seriously didn’t move even a tiny bit. Could it be that they’re really evenly matched in strength?!]
[This is unreal, but also insanely impressive. Truly a battle between masters!]
The comments buzzed with discussion. At this moment, Ben glanced at the time and announced loudly, "Three minutes are up. This match is a draw!"
The two of them were both slightly startled as they released their grip at the same time. Luther frowned as he looked at Henry, sweat dripping from his face and hands. Henry was not in much better shape either. Beads of sweat slid down from his temples, and his breathing was a little unsteady.
Clearly, just moments ago, both of them had looked perfectly calm.
Ben could not help falling silent as well. It felt like these two were taking things a bit too seriously, as if the reward were not simply the right to go in and fetch cooking ingredients in order, but something else entirely.
That feeling reached its peak when the two of them even walked toward Joshua at the same time.
Luther smiled. "Joshua, how did I do?"
Joshua could not help thinking, why are you asking me that?
He nodded. "You did very well."
Then he looked toward Henry, raised his thumb as well. "Leader did very well too."
Henry curled his lips into a faint smile.
[He smiled, he smiled!]
[Let me say this first, I’m not shipping anything, but does no one else feel that the atmosphere among these three is really weird?]
[It really is very weird...]
[There won’t actually be something going on, right...]
[Stop making wild guesses!]
Each round, the person who entered to collect cooking ingredients first would have a five-minute head start over the next person. Because the ingredients were limited, it mostly turned into a chaotic scramble, and in the end, it was the classic flying chickens and barking dogs cooking segment that delighted the fans.
In any case, at least their dinner was completed. Two of Joshua’s dishes were barely edible, two of Henry’s were delicious, two of Luther’s were barely edible, two of Justin’s were delicious, and both of Leonard’s dishes were completely burnt.
This show felt like it was single-mindedly targeting Leonard, making his fans burst into loud laughter.
Of course, fans were allowed to laugh, but if antis jumped in to mock him, they would definitely be torn apart.
Thus, an exhausting day came to an end, and everyone slept better than usual.
The next morning.
Joshua had just woken up when he felt his entire body being held tightly. Clearly, the two of them had slept in separate beds yesterday. Who knew how Luther had climbed into his bed without him noticing at all.
Joshua was already far too used to this. He could not help struggling a little. "Luther, let go of me."
Luther kissed and nuzzled Joshua for a long while before finally releasing him. Joshua looked like a cat that had just been mercilessly cuddled by its owner, his hair even more tousled than before.
He shoved Luther away in disgust before heading into the bathroom.
Ben arrived as if on schedule. After they had finished getting ready, he knocked on the door. "Alright, my dear friends, our next journey is here. Your final mission, harvesting agricultural produce! Let us see your talents!"
Leonard sneered. "Talents? How about rapping a song in the fields?"
Ben smiled. When facing Leonard, who could explode at any moment, he had learned that silence was golden.
They all changed into sun-protective clothing, wrapped themselves up tightly, and put on hooded hats before heading out to the fields. Even though the sky had not yet fully brightened, there were already many farmers outside. Once the sun came up, it would become extremely hot, making harvesting difficult.
Their task for today was to harvest the tomato fields and the cabbage fields.
Joshua and Luther were assigned to cut tomatoes, while the remaining three went to harvest cabbages.
Once they started working, everyone became extremely serious, with none of their usual playful behavior.
The tomato plants were heavy with fruit, each tomato large, plump, juicy, and vividly red. Luther kept swallowing his saliva, while Joshua showed no sign of temptation at all and focused intently on his work.
It was not until the sun had climbed higher and the weather began to heat up that Luther dragged Joshua off to slack off. The thing was, he had discovered a stream nearby, with a pool of water so clear it was transparent, and there was even an apple tree growing by the bank.
Joshua grew interested as soon as he heard that and was successfully pulled away by Luther.
Luther had only meant to tempt Joshua a little. He never expected that once they arrived, Joshua would actually start climbing the tree, which made him panic.
"Joshua, how about you come down. Let me go up instead!" Luther called out.
Joshua looked down when he heard that. "Just wait and catch the apples."
Luther: "..."
Joshua really did climb up, and what was more, he looked extremely skilled. He picked only the ripest apples and tossed them down. Luther had already spread out his hat below, waiting.
When the others noticed they had not come back, Ben led the group and the filming crew over to look for them. As soon as they arrived, they saw Joshua leaning out on a branch that drooped over the stream. He was so focused that he even stuck out his tongue slightly to lick his lips, his eyes locked onto the apple at the very top. It was huge, its skin a rosy red, and at a glance it looked delicious.
Henry was startled. Before the others could even react, he had already rushed forward.
Luther could not help shouting, "Joshua, why won’t you listen?!" Even as he yelled, he stood beneath the branch, ready to catch Joshua.
Joshua was still talking. "What are you worried about, the water here is so deep that even if—"
Before he could finish, his hand slipped off the apple. His body tilted slightly off balance, and the thin branch began to shake. Joshua was still gripping the branch tightly, but now his whole body slid down like a cat. Only his hands were holding on, and his toes were just about to touch the water.
He could not help panicking. He could not climb back up for the moment, and he did not dare let go either.
Seeing this scene, Luther laughed so hard he was about to suffocate. He even took out his phone and frantically snapped photos.
Joshua’s face flushed red, and he said angrily, "Hurry up and pull me down!"
Luther laughed as he put his phone away and was about to climb up, when Henry had already waded through the water and come over.
Luther frowned, finding Henry incredibly irritating to look at.
He was just about to say something when a sudden cracking sound rang out. Joshua instinctively screamed, "Luther, you bastard!"
At the same time, Henry had already caught Joshua. Joshua instinctively let go, then immediately wrapped his legs tightly around Henry like a koala. He buried his head against Henry’s shoulder, eyes squeezed shut, both hands raised to shield his head, as if afraid the branch would whip down and hit him.
Fortunately, that was only Joshua’s instinctive fear. The branch swayed violently, but it did not strike them.
Luther laughed so hard he was nearly choking. He even reached out and pinched Joshua’s cheek. "Alright, open your eyes already, hahahaha. You idiot, stop being so mischievous."
Joshua opened his eyes and angrily slapped Luther’s hand away.
Seeing the redness at the corners of Joshua’s eyes, Luther knew he had gone too far this time and immediately said, "Sorry, alright? Besides, you’re still perfectly fine, hahahaha."
"Thud!"
Just as Luther finished speaking, the huge apple Joshua had been trying to pick all along suddenly fell straight down. No matter how quick Henry and Luther were, neither of them had expected this to happen.
The apple was truly overripe. It smashed right onto Joshua’s head and burst apart.
Joshua jolted in shock. He stared blankly for a moment, then turned to look at Luther.
Luther immediately covered his mouth and coughed lightly. "I’m not laughing. I really am not laughing."
"Henry..." Joshua murmured. Henry directly carried Joshua up to the shore without changing his posture. The water here reached their waists, so even if Joshua had let go and fallen into the water earlier, it would not have been a problem. He had only wanted Luther to come save him. Who would have thought Luther would be so shamelessly playful.
Luther was still chasing after them. "I’m really not laughing, Joshua. It’s not funny at all."
By now, Joshua had buried his face completely into Henry’s shoulder. The apple on his head had already fallen off, but bits of apple flesh were still stuck in his hair. His exposed ears were so red they looked like they were about to bleed. He did not want to see anyone anymore, and he especially did not want to see Luther. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Meanwhile, the internet was already in an uproar.
Although Joshua really did look pitiful, in situations like this, an idol’s "pain" was always a fan’s joy.
The scene of Joshua narrowly escaping danger, only to then be struck by an apple falling from the sky and have his heart shattered, spread across countless blogs. Meanwhile, the image of him clinging to the branch with both hands, his entire body stiff and straight, was directly turned into all kinds of memes. In any case, Joshua did not dare go online at all right now. Fortunately, he normally did not have the habit of browsing the web. This was truly the kind of embarrassment one wished they could disappear into the ground over.
The fans were also shouting and laughing nonstop. Every time their idol showed up for some utterly unimaginable reason, they had long since gone numb and simply joined the ranks of those "bullying" him.
