My Idol System: An Idol, But Also A Savior-Chapter 192: Frying Eggs
Joshua hadn’t even finished speaking when Luther covered his mouth. He couldn’t help struggling, and his already-wet eyes grew even wetter.
Luther hadn’t even washed his hands yet!
"Brat, who are you calling a hen?" Luther’s gloomy voice sounded at that moment. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Joshua pouted. He really wanted to bite Luther’s hand, but considering that Luther hadn’t washed his hands and he didn’t want to taste chicken feed, he could only glare at Luther in silence.
[Hahaha, if Joshua suddenly appears at the edge of your bed at night, don’t ask why, Luther]
[I bet once the cameras are off, they’ll have a lot to talk about]
[Hahaha, you’re all acting so righteous. Can you stop making me laugh already!!!]
In any case, Joshua finally got his wish and picked up some eggs.
Leonard cheered from the side, "Joshua, look! This egg is still warm!"
Hearing that, Joshua glanced at him and nodded. "That means it was just laid."
Leonard paused again, looking at a few eggs with dark smudges on them, feeling a bit doubtful. "This egg is spoiled, right..."
Justin replied from the side, "No, that’s chicken poop."
Leonard: "..."
He instinctively looked toward Joshua and saw that Joshua was still happily picking eggs and was about to fill an entire basket. Leonard couldn’t help shouting, "Eggs come out of a chicken’s butt, Joshua! They’re covered in chicken poop!"
Joshua looked at Leonard making such a fuss and said, "So what? You usually even eat them raw."
Luther sneered. "He definitely doesn’t know how eggs are produced."
[Does he really not know?]
[I can’t be sure about others, but Leonard really might not know...]
[hahaha, it has to be an act, right]
[I feel like Leonard is about to break down]
As if sensing Leonard’s wounded feelings, Joshua volunteered, "Alright, stop thinking about weird stuff. Let’s go back. I’ll fry eggs for you!"
Leonard couldn’t help feeling happy when he heard that, but when he thought about what was on the eggs, he fell silent again.
Then he remembered that he would be eating Joshua’s loving breakfast after all, and he quickly cheered up.
Joshua couldn’t help mocking him. "You’re really childish, Leonard."
Luther nodded in agreement from the side. Joshua turned to look at him. "You’re childish too."
Luther immediately flicked Joshua on the forehead. "Don’t push your luck. I’m older than you."
Joshua stuck out his tongue, clearly not afraid of Luther’s intimidating act.
Just then, Justin suddenly leaned over. "Joshua, I want fried eggs too."
Henry also glanced over. From earlier on, only he and Joshua had been seriously picking up eggs, and both of their baskets were piled high and full.
He suddenly said, "Joshua and I will make breakfast together."
Obviously, Leonard’s special breakfast was no longer special. He couldn’t help shooting a sidelong glance at Henry and snorted coldly.
All in all, the early-morning task was completed perfectly. The livestream room was shut down, and filming moved on to the normal recording process.
Joshua had actually never cooked before. In his previous life, he had been pampered from childhood. Even after he went to college, his daily meals were still sent over from home, warm by the time they reached him and nutritionally balanced. His mother didn’t trust him to eat at the cafeteria or outside, saying it was easy to get sick.
Joshua wanted to say that he wasn’t that fragile, but his mother was adamant. Besides, he studied dance, so he really did need to pay attention to a balanced diet. In the end, he didn’t strongly refuse.
Later, at the base with Henry, he had even less need to do anything. Whatever Henry ate, he ate. Sometimes, when he was bored, he didn’t even feel like eating at all.
Even so, he had seen other people cook before and had casually watched a few cooking show videos.
He only felt that it was really cool. Everyone could shine in their own area of expertise.
Although cooking wasn’t his strong suit, he felt that he could definitely manage it.
The eggs that were about to go into the pan had already been washed. The rest didn’t need to be washed until they were used; that was the best way to preserve eggs, or so Ben had said.
Joshua watched the oil crackling in the pan and instinctively glanced toward Henry beside him, only to find Henry looking at him, his gaze extremely focused.
For a split second, Joshua actually felt a bit guilty, as if he’d been caught playing with his mother’s makeup.
He quickly brushed away the strange thoughts in his head and, following what he’d seen in the videos, cracked the eggs with a very professional air.
"Sizzle!"
The egg fell into the pan, the yolk spilling out instead of staying round, and the hot oil immediately splattered everywhere.
Joshua’s eyes widened, and he hurriedly jumped backward.
Henry seemed to have been waiting for this. He steadily caught Joshua and then stepped back, so fast it was as if his feet had been greased.
Joshua couldn’t help being startled, then struggled. "Let go of me, the eggs will burn."
Henry looked at him, as if asking whether Joshua could handle it.
Joshua pressed his lips together. "Why are you looking at me like that? Don’t underestimate me. Everyone has a first time."
Henry couldn’t help letting the corners of his mouth lift slightly. Joshua felt even more embarrassed. Who was it that said Henry didn’t know how to smile?
Seeing Joshua persist, Henry simply stood to the side and watched, ready to help.
But when Joshua was truly given the chance to show off, not a single egg burned. In fact, only the first egg had a runny yolk; all the ones after that were perfectly round.
Joshua did everything very seriously, quickly drawing lessons from his mistakes. From time to time, he would shrink back a little to avoid the splattering oil. The corners of his mouth drooped slightly, his brows faintly knit together. Luther walked into the kitchen intending to tease him, but when he saw Joshua’s expression, he promptly shut his mouth.
In the end, a breakfast of eggs, bacon, and bread was ready.
Luther looked at the not-so-round egg on Joshua’s plate and couldn’t help saying, "Joshua, want to switch portions?"
Joshua glanced at Luther, feeling that Luther was just like a kindergarten kid, and the super-naughty type at that.
He shook his head and said seriously, "No. This is the first egg I ever fried. It has special meaning, so of course it should be for me."
Luther: "..." Fine, self-love it is.
The next segment of today’s program was going up the mountain to pick mushrooms.
After all the commotion, it was actually only a little past seven o’clock by the time they finished eating. The air still carried a damp freshness from the morning dew.
The livestream room was turned back on, this time with mini cameras flying around each of them.
On the main screen, Ben held up three sheets of paper, flipping through them one by one. "These are three types of mushrooms you can find in the forest this season. Of course, you might come across other mushrooms as well. However, if you don’t have knowledge about mushrooms, I don’t recommend picking them at random. Just look for the ones specified here."
The images showed three different kinds of mushrooms: shiitake, lion’s mane, and reishi.
Leonard couldn’t help frowning. "Will this second-hand forest really have reishi?"
It wasn’t that Leonard was being unreasonable. The forest up there was really just a sightseeing forest, not an actual old-growth forest. The fact that it even had mushrooms was already a miracle.
Ben laughed. "You won’t know if you don’t try. Besides, this task is very important. The number of mushrooms you pick will be exchanged for money or food, which means they’ll decide your lunch!"
Of course, Ben wouldn’t let anything happen to the guests, so each of them had a cameraman following along to handle the filming. As for the mini cameras, they were naturally for close-up shots of their faces.
Fans of the show were clearly looking forward to seeing the guests in sweaty, struggling states.
The fans cheered loudly. Ben continued, "You have three hours. Be back before ten thirty, but you’re not allowed to come back earlier."
As he spoke, his gaze carried a pointed hint as it landed on Leonard.
Leonard: "..." His hands were really itching to do something.
In the end, each of them strapped a woven bamboo basket to their backs, wrapped themselves up tightly, and began to split up.
As for the reason, Ben said they weren’t allowed to team up, because the winner would receive a big reward.
When it came to big rewards, no matter what they were, they were enough to ignite Joshua’s fighting spirit.
He felt that this time he was guaranteed to win and started climbing up the mountain with great enthusiasm.
"Just wait, everyone. I’ll bring back first place!"
