My Hubby Can't Stop Pampering Me-Chapter 839 - 841: Parting Ways (11)
Chapter 839: Chapter 841: Parting Ways (11)
Lu Weixi had already informed her mother that she was at the Qin Family’s early on. However, on the phone, she just mentioned that she was at a friend’s place and everything was safe. She did not report that she had broken up with Qin Zhigu or that she was now in a relationship with Qin Zhiyou.
When they reached the Lu Family’s doorstep, Qin Zhiyou stopped the car but didn’t get out, only asking, “Do you want me to accompany you in to see Aunt Lu?”
“No need,” Lu Weixi shook her head.
Qin Zhiyou had heard Lu Weixi’s phone call earlier. He knew she hadn’t told her mother about their relationship. But secrets are hard to keep, and sooner or later, her mother was bound to find out. Moreover, her mother was currently Lu Weixi’s only weak spot; if he wanted to be with her smoothly, he had to get through this hurdle.

“But…”
“It’s okay, I’ll tell her,” she said and immediately pushed the car door open. Qin Zhiyou was tempted to follow her out but just then, a new message popped up on his phone. He glanced at it, his expression unchanged, but he made no move to follow her. He knew that pressuring her too much might backfire, so he simply nodded, “Let me know if you need anything.”
“Will do,” Lu Weixi nodded, and Qin Zhiyou didn’t linger; he drove off straight away. Lu Weixi waited until his car was completely out of sight and quiet before she took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
Aunt Lu opened the door for her quickly, immediately noticing the different clothes she was wearing: “Where did you buy these? Where were you last night?”
Lu Weixi looked at the familiar scene. When she left here yesterday, she was still Qin Zhigu’s girlfriend, but just one day later, she was with Qin Zhiyou.
In the span of a single day, everything had fallen apart. Perhaps her mother had felt something similar when she divorced her father.
“You don’t look well, what’s the matter?”
“It’s nothing, just, Mom,” Lu Weixi bit her lower lip, took a deep breath and said, “I broke up with Qin Zhigu.”
Aunt Lu knew her daughter was mostly fine except for being a bit wilful. She had always given Qin Zhigu a hard time. Although she heard the rumors yesterday that he might be involved with Cai Yiren, she didn’t believe them.
Qin Zhigu just wasn’t like Qin Zhiyou; how could he fall for every person he saw? Besides, when she called him at noon, he seemed anxious. If there were no feelings, he wouldn’t have responded that way. Could there be some kind of misunderstanding?
“What exactly happened? Is there a misunderstanding?”
“Mom, I…” Lu Weixi looked up at her mother, suddenly feeling an overwhelming exhaustion flood over her.
She was so tired, truly exhausted. She had been up and about all afternoon and night yesterday, and after Qin Zhiyou took her back, they had stayed up all night. She had kept going on adrenaline until now, having to stand her ground in front of Bai Changyou, Cai Yiren’s mother, and especially in front of Qin Zhigu—before them, she could not lose. But now, seeing her mother, thinking how her mother had also been betrayed by someone close to her, stabbed in the back by the person she trusted most, the pain struck her instantaneously.
“Mom, I really, really loved Qin Zhigu, I truly loved him. I’ve broken up with him, and we can never be together again, never,” she said, her legs giving way as she collapsed into her mother’s arms and then onto the floor—a mirror of the time her parents divorced and she was cast aside by Bai Changyou, “He’s with Cai Yiren now, he doesn’t want me anymore…”
