My Harem of Dangerous and Crazy Women as a Reincarnated Necromancer-Chapter 65: A Vampire’s Jealousy
Mark and Rose sat on the grass in front of the campfire.
The fire crackled softly, and the sound of the stream in the distance was the only thing filling the silence of the night.
’How did she know I’m a reincarnated person?’ Mark thought, staring at the flames without saying anything.
That question had been lodged in his head from the moment that woman said it.
’...was obviously you, my little re-in-car-na-ted one.’
Mark remembered perfectly the way she had said it.
It wasn’t a guess or a question.
It was a statement.
Each syllable pronounced with deliberate slowness, almost as if she were savoring every word and enjoying the effect they had on him.
’Can she detect it somehow? Is that something demons can do? Or is it something exclusive to her?’
Mark had no answers, only questions that piled on top of each other without leading anywhere.
’And on top of everything, she said she had plans for me... whatever that means, I highly doubt it’s anything good.’
Mark let out a faint sigh, still staring at the fire.
"You’re very quiet," Rose said, pulling him out of his thoughts.
Mark turned in her direction.
The vampire was sitting beside him with her legs crossed, looking at him with curiosity.
"What’s on your mind?" Rose asked in a calm tone. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Mark obviously had no intention of telling her what he was actually thinking, so he did what he did best in these situations.
Lie.
"Nothing in particular," Mark replied, shrugging naturally. "I was just thinking that I miss my dungeon a little..."
And that wasn’t entirely a lie, part of him did miss the comfort of his base.
"I also miss Ely and Aria," Mark added, looking at the fire. "As suffocating as those two can be..."
Hearing those names, Rose raised an eyebrow with curiosity.
"Ely and Aria?" Rose repeated. "Those are the names of your other two subordinates?"
"Yeah," Mark replied, nodding. "Ely was my first subordinate, she is, or well, was a holy knight."
"A holy knight?" Rose said in a tone mixing surprise and amusement. "A necromancer with a holy knight as a subordinate?"
"Yeah, I know how that sounds," Mark said, raising a hand. "But it works. She’s the group’s frontliner, she takes all the damage and protects the rest."
"Wow... really?" Rose said with a smile that made clear she was enjoying the conversation.
"And then there’s Aria," Mark continued. "She’s a high-rank support, and honestly she’s pretty convenient in combat, she buffs the rest of the group with her support skills."
"Really?" Rose said, tilting her head slightly. "So you have a holy knight as your frontliner and a high-rank support as backup... not bad at all, Master."
"Well, there’s also Cali, but she mostly handles surveillance and patrol of the dungeon," Mark added casually. "And then there’s Vorax, who I suppose doesn’t need an introduction at this point."
"Wow," Rose said with a somewhat exaggerated expression of interest. "Sounds like you have a pretty complete group."
"You could say that, haha."
"What an elegant way to describe them," Rose replied, letting out a short laugh.
"That’s the condensed version," Mark replied with a half smile.
Mark realized it had been a while since he’d talked like this with someone, and it felt strangely good.
"And then there’s Yuki, who you already know," Mark said casually, his expression shifting slightly. "Speaking of her..."
Mark looked toward the darkness of the forest surrounding the camp.
"Do you think Yuki and the others are okay? They went out a while ago to scout the area and still haven’t come back."
Yuki had headed out with Alice’s five companions before dark to investigate the surroundings.
But a considerable amount of time had passed since then and there were no signs they’d be returning soon.
"Try not to worry, Master," Rose replied calmly. "Yuki is practically undetectable when she wants to be, so if there’s anything dangerous nearby, she’ll detect it long before it detects her."
"I know," Mark said without taking his eyes off the forest. "But I can’t help worrying a little anyway..."
Mark leaned back slightly, resting both hands on the grass behind him.
"After everything that happened today, I think my stress levels are going to be through the roof for a while."
Hearing that, Rose glanced at him sideways for a couple of seconds without saying anything, until she finally decided to speak again.
"If you want..." Rose said in a tone that sounded slightly different from the one she’d been using until now. "I can help you get rid of that stress."
Mark raised an eyebrow.
"Do you know a spell for that or something?" Mark asked with curiosity. "Because if you have some kind of magic that removes stress or exhaustion, that would be really hel—"
But Mark didn’t finish the sentence, because Rose let out a small laugh.
"What’s so fun—?"
Mark stopped mid-sentence again when he felt something.
Rose had apparently taken off her shoes without him noticing, and one of her bare feet came to rest directly on his crotch.
Mark went completely still.
Rose’s foot pressed gently against his pants while her toes curled, hooking into the waistband and tugging downward in a slow, deliberate motion.
"It’s actually nothing as fancy as what you were thinking," Rose said with a half smile, still pulling at his waistband with her foot. "But trust me, it’s tremendously effective."
Mark stared at her without knowing exactly what to say, and Rose held his gaze with a seductive look.
"Besides..." Rose continued, her foot still pressing against Mark’s crotch with soft movements. "After hearing how highly you speak of your other subordinates, I won’t lie, it made me a little jealous."
Rose tilted her head slightly without wiping that half smile from her face.
"So I’m going to have to work hard to not fall behind."
’This was definitely not what I had in mind,’ Mark thought as he felt the blood starting to rush somewhere that definitely wasn’t his head, or well... not the one on his shoulders.
’But I’m not going to complain about this either...’
