Chapter 37: A Very Bad Excuse

Mark pulled away from Cali, breathing heavily as every muscle in his body protested from the effort.

’Shit. That was... intense.’

Mark ran a hand through his hair, pushing it away from his sweat-dampened forehead, and looked down.

Cali was lying face down on the stone floor, her legs slightly spread and her body trembling weakly from exhaustion.

Mark could see his cum still dripping from her pussy, sliding slowly down the inside of her thighs.

Her red skin was covered in a thin layer of sweat that glistened in the candlelight, and her tail lay motionless beside her body.

Her small wings were fully extended across her back, twitching occasionally.

Mark frowned, feeling a small pang of guilt.

’I should probably pick her up. I can’t just leave her lying on the floor like this.’

Mark crouched beside her, sliding one arm under her knees and the other beneath her back, carefully lifting her into his arms.

Cali let out a soft little moan but didn’t open her eyes.

Her head fell against Mark’s chest, and he could feel her warm breath against his skin as he carried her over to the bed.

’Maybe we should have done it on the bed instead of the floor. But in the heat of the moment, neither of us cared.’

Mark reached the bed and gently laid her down on the white sheets.

Cali sank into the mattress with a sigh of relief, her body finally relaxing completely.

Mark picked up one of the white sheets that had fallen to the floor and covered her with it, making sure she was properly tucked in.

Then he paused, looking at her. Her reading glasses were still on, crooked and slightly fogged, but still in place.

Mark couldn’t help but smile.

’She looks pretty cute with those glasses. And not just physically.’

Now that he knew her true personality—the shy, studious, and reserved Cali hiding behind that provocative mask—she seemed adorable to him.

’The last thing I expected was for the shameless succubus who wouldn’t stop flirting with me to turn out to be a nerd.’

Even though her jokes about wanting him to get her pregnant hadn’t been jokes at all.

She had repeated it several times during sex.

"Get me pregnant, Master."

"I want to carry your child."

"Fill me completely."

Mark shook his head, pushing those thoughts aside.

’So there really was some truth to her words after all.’

He stepped away from the bed and began looking for his clothes.

His pants were near the entrance of the room, and his black tunic was lying close to the bookshelf.

Mark picked them up one by one and dressed quickly.

Once fully clothed, he glanced around the room, searching for the history book Cali had mentioned. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

’That was the reason I came here in the first place. Before... well, before things got completely out of control.’

His eyes landed on a large book bound in brown leather lying on the floor near where the wooden stool had been.

’There it is.’

Mark crouched down and picked it up, brushing the dust off the cover.

The book was heavy and old, with yellowed pages and cracked leather from age. Engraved on the cover in faded gold letters were the words:

"History of Demons and the Demon Lord’s War."

Perfect.

Mark opened it briefly, flipping through a few pages.

There were detailed illustrations of demons, maps of ancient territories, and long paragraphs of dense text.

Mark closed the book and tucked it under his arm.

He looked at Cali one last time. She was still sleeping peacefully in the bed, covered by the sheets.

’Better let her rest.’

Without saying anything, Mark headed toward the exit—the narrow dark passage he had entered through.

The darkness enveloped him again, but his passive night vision allowed him to see clearly.

Finally, Mark emerged from the passage and returned to the seventh floor of the dungeon.

The faint glow of the white crystals on the ceiling greeted him, and Mark took a deep breath, feeling the cool dungeon air fill his lungs.

Then, suddenly, he remembered something important.

’Shit. Ely, Yuki, and Aria are waiting for me at the dungeon entrance.’

Ely and Aria were supposed to see him off, and Yuki was going to accompany him on the journey to the Demon Lord’s dungeon

Mark wasn’t sure, but he knew he had taken much longer than planned.

’They’re probably wondering where the hell I am...’

Mark tightened his grip on the book under his arm and started walking quickly across the seventh floor toward the stairs leading upward.

The undead monsters patrolling the area bowed respectfully as he passed, but Mark barely paid them any attention.

He took the stairs two at a time, moving as fast as he could without actually running.

’I hope they’re not too angry. Especially Ely. If she finds out I was with Cali...’

Mark shuddered at the thought. He moved through each floor until he finally reached the first floor, where the main entrance was.

Sunlight filtered in through the dungeon entrance.

And there, near the opening, were the three of them.

Ely, her armor gleaming under the sunlight, had her arms crossed and an impatient expression on her face.

Yuki, dressed in her tight black assassin outfit, was leaning against the wall with a neutral expression, though her eyes watched him attentively.

Aria, in her white dress with her blonde hair swaying gently, stood beside Ely with a kind smile on her face.

The moment Mark appeared, all three turned toward him.

"Finally!" Ely exclaimed, her voice full of exasperation. "What happened, Master? We’ve been waiting for almost an hour."

Mark cleared his throat, trying to improvise a quick excuse.

"I was... gathering information," Mark said, lifting the book under his arm as proof. "I went to talk to Cali about the Demon Lord’s dungeon."

Ely narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

"For a whole hour?"

Mark simply shrugged.

"I had to find this book. It was at the back of her room."

Yuki looked at him with an unreadable expression, and Mark had the distinct feeling that she knew exactly what he had been doing.

Aria, however, simply smiled.

"Well, the important thing is that you’re here now, Master," Aria said softly. "Are you ready to leave?"

Mark nodded.

"Yes. I’m ready."

Ely just sighed, dropping her arms to her sides in resignation and turning to look at Yuki.

"Take care of him, please," Ely said in a serious tone.

"I suppose I will," Yuki replied, nodding slightly.

Mark simply watched the scene as a small thought crossed his mind.

’Why do they talk about me like I’m a child?’
