My Happy Dragon Life With Supernatural Girls-Chapter 65. Astrid Arrives At The Dragon Queen’s Castle.
Of course, the female demon was none other than the Frost Demon princess herself.
It was Astrid Belphegor and right now, the Frost Demon princess was seated inside the ice carriage alone with both of her hands folded neatly in her lap.
The interior was quiet and insulated from the wind howling outside as the carriage glided through the air to the Dragon Queen’s floating citadel.
Astrid could already see the capital city in the distance and that meant that it was only a matter of time before she arrived at Vivian’s castle.
However, it also meant that in the next couple of minutes, she would be seeing Aster, Lily and the Dragon Queen herself.
Realizing this, Astrid took a deep breath as she recalled the first time she saw the dragon queen, which also happened to be when she and her mother had been invited to Aster and Lily’s homecoming party.
Speaking of the dragon queen, Astrid recalled what her mother had taught her and what Isabella expected from her during her stay in the Dragon Queen’s castle.
"Mother says to trust no one but myself."
"Everyone aside from her is my enemy."
"The Gremory Household is also my enemy."
"And most importantly, I must never show my weakness to my enemies."
Astrid quietly repeated these words under her breath and her hands tightened even more as she anticipated the upcoming tea party with the Gremory Royal Family. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Of course, Astrid wasn’t dumb enough to actually do something cruel to the dragon prince and princess.
And neither did she intend to hurt them.
Yes, her mother and the Dragon Queen viewed each other as rivals, but neither of them had any intention of hurting the other.
Their rivalry was completely based on a political point of view and nothing more.
Isabella viewed Vivian as her political rival, just like every other demon lord, and that was exactly how she expected Astrid to view the Gremory Household.
Aster and Lily had automatically become Astrid’s political rival, so Isabella expected her daughter to do three important things during her time with Vivian’s children.
"Mother wants me to observe the dragon prince and princess closely."
"That way I can gauge their strengths and weaknesses."
"And lastly, I must behave like a Belphegor princess at all times."
Once Astrid arrived at the Dragon Queen’s castle today, she would be the first demon with royal blood to ever step into the Dragon Queen’s castle.
This alone was enough to improve Astrid’s reputation across the seven Kingdoms of Hell, meaning that the rumors of her being invited to Vivian’s castle would spread across the continent as well.
However, it also meant that Vivian and her entire retainers would be watching her very closely.
So whenever that happened, Isabella expected her daughter to behave like a Belphegor princess.
Astrid was to appear polite and likeable, and if it impressed the Dragon Queen, Astrid would definitely be invited to her castle once again in the near future, and her reputation across the continent would skyrocket.
But if Isabella had agreed to allow Astrid to have a tea party with Lily because she wanted to improve her daughter’s reputation across the continent, one might wonder why she had asked Astrid to closely observe and gauge Aster and Lily’s strength.
However, the answer to this was really simple.
With the tournament coming up soon, Isabella wanted Astrid to conduct a political reconnaissance on Aster.
In other words, Isabella expected her daughter to gather as much information as possible about the dragon prince before she returned home and that was really why her mother had allowed her to attend the tea party.
’But do I really want to...’ Astrid paused her train of thought, then shook her head to clear away any distracting thoughts that might hinder her from completing her mission.
After taking a deep sigh to calm her mind, she glanced at the luggage sitting on the seat beside her.
Next to her were three perfectly packed boxes containing her dresses and anything else she might need during her stay at the Dragon Queen’s castle.
Initially, her visit was supposed to last for a few hours, but Vivian had sent a message to Isabella, requesting that the Frost Demon Queen allow Astrid to stay at her castle for one full week.
Isabella didn’t hesitate to agree to this, and that was why Astrid had three bags following her to the Dragon Queen’s castle.
Her fingers tightened slightly on her skirt when she realized how long she would be away from home and her mother.
She would also be away from familiar faces, but Astrid tried her best to remain calm.
After all, her mother had given her a task to do, and Astrid was prepared to do whatever it took to make her mother happy.
With her mind made up on what she wanted to do, Astrid sat straight-backed and perfectly composed when she noticed the carriage slowing down.
She stared out the window and watched the floating citadel draw closer.
Astrid pressed her lips together as the carriage made one final lurch before descending onto the landing platform.
"Princess Astrid, we have arrived." Her coachman politely informed her and Astrid carefully stepped out of the carriage to find Hallie, dressed in her usual butler’s outfit, approaching her.
The beautiful jack-o’-lantern stepped forward and bowed at the demon princess.
"Greetings, Your Highness and welcome to Queen Vivian’s castle."
"T-Thank you, L-Lady Hallie."
Astrid had heard about Hallie and the things she had accomplished with the Dragon Queen, so she knew how powerful and well respected the female butler was across the continent, but she hadn’t expected Hallie to be the one to welcome her into the castle and this caught her by surprise.
"There’s no need for you to address me with such a title, Your Highness. Just call me Hallie," The beautiful jack-o’-lantern butler said as she lifted her head with a warm smile.
Astrid blinked and nodded in response. "O-okay, H-Hallie." She replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
It was still strange to see one of the strongest familiars on the continent, bowing to her, but Astrid tried not to think too much about it and instead maintained her calm composure in front of Hallie.
Seeing this, Hallie’s smile widened then she placed Astrid’s luggage into her space ring.
"If you would please follow me, the Queen and Lady Lily are expecting you."
