My Happy Daily Life After Being Reborn-Chapter 358 - 5 Going Far Away_2
Chapter 358: Chapter 5 Going Far Away_2
"Haven’t you forgotten that he has to go to school?" Lin Xiaoguai said with amusement.
Without a trace, she sized up Yang Xiaoli. Compared to when she had left two years ago, Yang had lost some weight, her eyes no longer as sharp as before, having developed a smoothness that comes with social experience. Her spirit, however, was decent, but the smile on her face didn’t seem as genuine as before.
"The rooms are all prepared for you, and I aired the quilts out as well. I just don’t know if you’ll be able to adjust to the climate here," Yang Xiaoli prattled on.
"Don’t worry, even if I can’t get used to it, I’ll crawl if I have to, just to attend your wedding banquet," Zhu Huixi said gaily.
"You," Yang Xiaoli said with a soft smile and sighed, "about to become a mother, yet still so carefree and uninhibited. Only Wang Han can put up with you."
At her words, Zhu Huixi lifted her chin and glanced at Wang Han: "Let him dare to complain and see!" Saying so, she even raised a small fist as a threat.
"How could I dare," Wang Han said with tender indulgence in his gaze.
Seeing the interaction between the two, Yang Xiaoli’s expression became a bit distant, clearly reminded of someone.
However, her expression quickly returned to normal as she joked with a smile: "You lovebirds are still so sweet."
She turned to Lin Xiaoguai: "I heard you opened a shop? How’s business?"
"Not bad, it’s enough to support myself," Lin Xiaoguai replied with a light smile, and then asked, "And you? Didn’t you say you started a snack stall in front of the movie theater?"
"The snack stall is doing great," Yang Xiaoli said buoyantly: "I already applied for unpaid leave. After the wedding, I’ll manage the shop myself."
Chatting and laughing along the way, they arrived at Yang Xiaoli’s house after an hour.
Yang Xiaoli’s house was a two-story building, obviously newly constructed.
"Mom, I’m back!" Yang cried out before even entering the home.
"Here comes, what are you shouting about?" The sound came before the person, and the next moment, a plump auntie came out of the house, saw Lin Xiaoguai and the others, and immediately smiled: "You all must be Xiao Li’s classmates, come in quickly, sit down. We have pork in the kitchen, I’ll go make you some braised pork."
"What braised pork!" Yang Xiaoli said irritably: "Don’t you see what time it is now?"
Mrs. Yang was taken aback, a bit bewildered: "But didn’t your classmates just get off the train? Train food is so expensive, how could they have eaten properly?"
"They wouldn’t have brought their own food?" Yang Xiaoli rolled her eyes.
She really could do nothing about her mother, always trying to be savvy yet often doing silly things.
"Is Xiao Guai and Huihui here?" While Lin Xiaoguai and the others were looking at each other in bewilderment, Aunt Yang came out of the house. freēwēbnovel.com
"Aunt Yang, you’re here too?" Zhu Huixi asked, surprised and pleased.
"I came early," Aunt Yang said, beaming: "I guessed you’d come, and I’ve saved quite a lot of good food for you." She understood her niece’s thoughts but felt there was no obstacle that couldn’t be overcome. Qi Sheng was a good man; her niece’s life would not be bad with him, certainly better than hers and her husband’s.
"Aunt Yang, we’re not kids anymore, who needs you to save good food for us?" Zhu Huixi said discontentedly.
"Alright, I won’t give it to you then; I’ll give it to your son," Aunt Yang said, implying symbolism as she glanced at her belly.
Zhu Huixi’s face immediately turned red and everyone else broke into laughter.
"Alright, you’ve all been on the train for such a long time without being able to shower, you must be uncomfortable. I had my mom heat up water this morning, you should go and take a shower," said Yang Xiaoli after the laughter subsided, addressing Lin Xiaoguai and the others.
The three of them didn’t refuse and followed Yang Xiaoli to the rooms she had prepared for them upstairs.
The Yang Family didn’t have many rooms, and there weren’t enough beds. Originally, Yang Xiaoli was planning to empty her own and her parents’ rooms for Lin Xiaoguai and her husband and Zhu Huixi and her husband to use, while they would sleep on the floor.
But since Shen Chi didn’t come, she decided to have Lin Xiaoguai join her on the floor, and Wang Han and Zhu Huixi could use her room.
There was no choice; in the countryside, it was not customary or economically feasible to prepare guest rooms in the house.
But as soon as Zhu Huixi heard this, she immediately changed the plan to Wang Han sleeping on the floor alone, with her, Lin Xiaoguai, and Yang Xiaoli squeezing onto one bed together.
"Haven’t seen each other for two years, and you don’t want to chat with us about private matters?" As soon as Yang Xiaoli objected, Zhu Huixi eagerly asked.
Yang Xiaoli couldn’t help but yield as she actually had a lot she wanted to discuss privately with her friends.
Dinner was prepared by Mrs. Yang; despite seeming a bit scatterbrained, her cooking skills were not bad, and the authentic home-cooked meals were delicious.
After eating their fill, everyone chatted for a while as they watched TV. Then it was time for Qi Sheng to leave, and they all accompanied him to the door.
That night, after sending a wry-headed Wang Han out, the three women huddled in bed early to talk.
"Huihui, be careful when you sleep, don’t squeeze the baby," Lin Xiaoguai teased.
"Could I really squeeze the baby?" Zhu Huixi asked in alarm.
"Of course it’s a joke," Lin Xiaoguai and Yang Xiaoli laughed.
"Alright, you two meanies!"
Seeing her about to pounce, Lin Xiaoguai quickly said, "Don’t forget about the baby!"
Zhu Huixi stiffened and after a moment sighed: "Being pregnant is so hard; it’s not fun at all."
"That’s not supposed to be fun, you know?" Lin Xiaoguai said disbelief.
"By the way, Xiao Li, what does Qi Sheng do?" Zhu Huixi quietly asked.
"He’s a middle school teacher," Yang Xiaoli paused before answering.
Hearing this, Lin Xiaoguai and Zhu Huixi’s minds eased; originally they were worried about the country arranged dates having poor prospects, but it seemed much better than anticipated.
