My Five Bigshot Seniors: I am The Most Coddled Junior!-Chapter 333 - 13: Encountering Bai Wei Again [Part 2]
"Family Head, please calm down. Miss is still quite young and has been staying in Purple Sunset City, so she hasn’t met many men. Once she meets more people as she grows older, she naturally won’t be infatuated with Ye Tingwen anymore." Sheng Ruyan was raised by Liang Hui, who sees Sheng Ruyan as her own daughter. Afraid that the Sheng Family Master would punish Sheng Ruyan, Liang Hui hurriedly said.
"You’re right, that girl just hasn’t seen enough yet, which is why she’s charmed by Ye Tingwen. Keep an eye out for decent young talents and let her see more of them. She’s not that young anymore." The Sheng Family Master pondered for a moment and felt Liang Hui had a point, thoughtfully saying so.
"Yes, rest assured, Family Head, I will make sure to take good care of it." Liang Hui quickly responded.
"Continue to keep an eye on the Ye Family and send someone to bring Ruyan back." The Sheng Family Master put down the teacup and instructed.
"Understood." Liang Hui nodded and immediately retreated.
...
After agreeing with Ye Wanwan to dine at the Ye Family’s place, Gu Qingqing and the others went about their usual tasks. On the day, they stayed at the Sunset Mountain Range for half a day, returned to their residence to tidy up a bit, and soon Ye Wanwan arrived by carriage.
"Wanwan, is it so early?" Gu Qingqing checked the sky and asked with a smile.
"I just wanted to spend some time with you. We can set out later; there’s no rush." Ye Wanwan knew she had arrived a bit early and quickly explained.
Gu Qingqing nodded and then took Ye Wanwan into the house.
In the afternoon, they all took the carriage to the Ye Family’s place.
Every day, the streets of Purple Sunset City bustle with activity. Because there were many people, Ye Wanwan and her group’s carriage moved slowly. The carriage bore the Ye Family’s emblem, which allowed those in the know to recognize it at a glance.
Bai Wei, who was strolling through the streets with others, instantly spotted the Ye Family’s carriage. Her gaze flickered; among the Ye Family, Ye Wanwan was likely the only one who could ride in a carriage. Ye Wanwan seldom went out, so she and Bai Wei rarely crossed paths. The last time they did, Bai Wei gained nothing from her encounter with Ye Wanwan and still harbored resentment.
Now seeing the Ye Family’s carriage, a cold gleam flashed in her eyes. Shortly after, while everyone was unaware, a silver needle flew from her fingertips, piercing into the body of the horse pulling the carriage.
The horse felt the sting of the silver needle and immediately felt pain. It suddenly halted, rearing its forelegs high up, causing the carriage it was pulling to jolt, almost making Gu Qingqing and Ye Wanwan inside tumble over, if not for Gu Qingqing’s quick reflexes.
Ye Wanwan had been chatting with Gu Qingqing, her face full of smiles. The unexpected turn of events made her expression turn grim.
"What happened?" She lifted the curtain, displeased, and asked the driver.
"Miss, the servant also doesn’t know what happened. It seems the horse got startled." The driver was puzzled and quickly explained, fearing Ye Wanwan’s anger.
Upon hearing this, Ye Wanwan glanced at the agitated horse, noticing it indeed seemed distressed. Her brows furrowed slightly.
"Stop the carriage and check what’s going on with the horse." She turned back and instructed the driver.
The driver immediately halted the carriage, then got off to check the horse’s condition.
Jun Wu and Mu Chen were not riding in the carriage but followed closely on horses, immediately approaching the carriage.
"Geng Geng, are you alright?" Jun Wu was the first to speak, asking Gu Qingqing with concern.
"I’m fine." Gu Qingqing’s voice came from inside the carriage, causing Jun Wu and Mu Chen to breathe a sigh of relief.
Since everyone was fine, it was time to check the horse. The driver inspected the horse and found no injuries, but it looked uncomfortable and was unable to continue pulling the carriage, angering Ye Wanwan slightly.
"Geng Geng, there’s a problem with the horse, and the carriage can’t go on. We’re not far from our home, so let’s walk there." Ye Wanwan spoke to Gu Qingqing, apologetically.
"Alright." Gu Qingqing was naturally not upset with Ye Wanwan and got off the carriage with her.
Just as they stood by the carriage, Ye Wanwan was about to speak to Gu Qingqing and glanced at the crowd, quickly spotting Bai Wei standing not far away. Bai Wei was watching Ye Wanwan and the others, and when Ye Wanwan caught her gaze, Bai Wei was momentarily stunned but then curled her lips with a provoking smile, approaching as Ye Wanwan grew angrier.
"Oh, isn’t this the fourth young lady of the Ye Family? What’s the matter? Carriage trouble? Do you need my help?" Bai Wei walked up to Ye Wanwan and Gu Qingqing, her gaze sweeping over Jun Wu and Mu Chen standing behind them, a hint of jealousy in her eyes, speaking in a sarcastic tone.
"No need, but thank you for your kind offer, Miss Bai." Ye Wanwan glared at Bai Wei, responding coldly.
"That’s too bad then. I’m always willing to help, but sadly, Miss Ye won’t give me the chance." Bai Wei wore a regretful expression, but her eyes carried a smile, clearly only speaking superficially.
Ye Wanwan detested her manner and didn’t want to engage with Bai Wei. She merely snorted coldly and turned to Gu Qingqing, "Geng Geng, let’s go."
If she was free, she might have debated with Bai Wei here, but she remembered the task Ye Tingyan had given her, so she wanted to bring Gu Qingqing and the others to the Ye Family first and didn’t want to waste time on Bai Wei.
Bai Wei didn’t expect Ye Wanwan to remain unbothered and even leave, her expression darkened, frustrated by Ye Wanwan’s unexpected behavior.
"Why are you leaving? I haven’t finished talking." She stepped forward, reaching out to stop Ye Wanwan and Gu Qingqing from leaving.
"If you haven’t finished your words, that’s your business. I’m busy and don’t want to listen to you." Ye Wanwan was also getting annoyed, not giving Bai Wei any face and speaking coldly.
"Ye Wanwan, don’t be ungrateful. My ability to talk to you is a blessing for you. Don’t you know the current state of your Ye Family? It won’t be long before your family becomes just an ordinary one in Purple Sunset City. How dare you act so arrogantly in front of me? Aren’t you afraid that I’ll deal with you in the future?" Bai Wei was dissatisfied with Ye Wanwan’s attitude. Unconcerned with being on the street, she directly threatened.
The Ye Family was Ye Wanwan’s reverse scale; Bai Wei’s words angered her. Though her eloquence couldn’t rival Bai Wei’s, she was higher in cultivation and better in fights. Her expression turned cold, ready to retaliate against Bai Wei, but Gu Qingqing stopped her.
"Miss Bai, this is the street, not your home. Just because you say we can’t leave doesn’t mean we can’t. You’re being a bit overbearing, don’t you think Purple Sunset City belongs to you?"
