My Five Bigshot Seniors: I am The Most Coddled Junior!-Chapter 313 - 181: Rushing Back to Huazhou City (Part 1)
Ever since returning from Yuqiu Pass up to the day of the engagement, Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu hadn’t seen each other much, though they continually exchanged messages and missed each other deeply.
At this moment, when Jun Wu saw Gu Qingqing, he was completely stunned. He realized that after more than a month apart, Gu Qingqing seemed even more beautiful, so much that he couldn’t take his eyes off her.
Today, Jun Wu was also dressed in red, a color he didn’t usually wear. But wearing it now, his already handsome features seemed even more captivating.
Especially since he usually maintained a serious demeanor, only showing a smiling face in front of Gu Qingqing. But today, because of his good mood, he kept a smile on his face, which surprised all who knew his character.
However, they were all aware of how much Jun Wu liked Gu Qingqing. Imagining themselves finally getting engaged to the one they loved, they would undoubtedly be very happy, too, and understood.
Jun Wu naturally didn’t care about others’ gazes, as all his attention was seized by Gu Qingqing walking in, and his eyes were filled with only her.
At this moment, everything around him seemed to vanish from his world, leaving only Gu Qingqing, who was walking towards him.
Even though this was just an engagement, not the wedding, just the thought that he could declare his claim to others and let everyone know that Gu Qingqing was his fiancée made him very excited.
As he was thinking this, Gu Qingqing had reached in front of him. He extended his hand, and Gu Qingqing glanced at him, placing her hand in his, their fingers intertwined.
"Qingqing, you look truly beautiful today." He leaned in to whisper in her ear.
Gu Qingqing’s cheeks flushed, "Are you saying I’m not beautiful on usual days?" she asked, feigning anger.
"Of course not, in my eyes, you are the most beautiful girl in the world." Jun Wu quickly defended.
She was just teasing him, and seeing him so nervous, Gu Qingqing burst into laughter.
Smart as he was, Jun Wu immediately realized that Gu Qingqing was just teasing him and laughed too, without being angry.
"You, always so mischievous." He squeezed Gu Qingqing’s hand a bit tighter and said with mild reproach.
Gu Qingqing glanced at him with a bit of pride, not saying a word, and Jun Wu returned her look with a doting smile.
The two approached the guests hand in hand, becoming the focus of everyone’s attention.
The guests were all those closely connected to both families, and seeing the handsome man and beautiful woman standing together, perfectly matched, they couldn’t help but feel joyous.
Among them, only Wen Guiyun and his five disciples didn’t feel particularly delighted.
Though they had mentally prepared themselves, seeing the young girl they had raised getting engaged to someone else felt quite complex, though they didn’t show it.
After the two exchanged engagement tokens, the engagement matter was considered concluded.
Next was discussing the wedding date. Wen Guiyun had previously mentioned that there was no rush for Gu Qingqing to marry off, so naturally, they weren’t in a hurry to discuss the wedding date with the Jun Family.
Although Jun Yutian and his family were anxious, they didn’t dare to say much for fear that Wen Guiyun might change his mind, even though Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu were already engaged.
After the engagement banquet, those in good relations gathered for chatting and drinking, while the main characters, Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu, took the opportunity to slip away unnoticed.
"Is it okay for us to just leave them like that?" Gu Qingqing glanced back and saw the lively scene in the distance, then turned to ask Jun Wu.
"They won’t notice us at all by now." Jun Wu also glanced back and then said confidently.
Hearing this, Gu Qingqing thought about it and realized those people indeed wouldn’t notice them now, so she nodded.
Jun Wu reached out, pulling Gu Qingqing into his arms, savoring the warmth of her presence, and let out a slight sigh.
"Qingqing, I haven’t seen you for so long, I missed you so much." He nuzzled Gu Qingqing with his chin and said, sounding a bit aggrieved.
Gu Qingqing wrapped her arms around Jun Wu’s waist. Hearing his words, a silent smile crept on her lips, "I missed you too."
It was rare for Jun Wu to hear such affectionate words from Gu Qingqing, and upon hearing them, he was quite delighted and hugged her tighter.
"I must work harder to marry you sooner. I wish to always be with you." Ever since he officially got together with Gu Qingqing, Jun Wu’s ability to express affectionate words had greatly improved, making Gu Qingqing a bit overwhelmed.
"Master won’t agree." Gu Qingqing couldn’t help but dampen his hopes. Getting them engaged was already Wen Guiyun’s biggest concession; as for Jun Wu wanting to marry Gu Qingqing immediately, that was entirely wishful thinking.
Jun Wu’s body stiffened for a moment; he rubbed his head against Gu Qingqing’s shoulder as he held her.
They embraced for a while and found a pavilion where they leaned in close and chatted until the moon reached its zenith, and only then did Jun Wu escort Gu Qingqing back to her room.
Prior to this, they had agreed that after the betrothal party, they would attend Yun Ran and Zhuo Tingqiu’s wedding, so they bade farewell to Wen Guiyun and Jun Yutian, and set off for Huazhou City with Si Lin and the others.
The distance from here to Huazhou City wasn’t far; taking the flying artifact took just a day to arrive.
On the third day after the betrothal party, they reached Huazhou City.
Huazhou City was the first city Gu Qingqing reached after ascending to the Sub-immortal Realm. It still held some special meaning for her; although she left Huazhou City just over six months ago, she felt as though it had been much longer.
Yun Ran, who returned with them, felt the same as Gu Qingqing.
"I feel like we haven’t been away for long, but Huazhou City seems to have changed a lot." She turned and remarked to Gu Qingqing with a sense of wonder.
Gu Qingqing nodded, agreeing with Yun Ran’s observation.
Yun Ran had lived in Huazhou City for several years before, so she had some emotional ties to the city, whereas Gu Qingqing had only stayed less than a month; it was just her first city in the Sub-immortal Realm, thus holding special feelings.
Walking down the streets, they could still overhear people discussing Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu’s engagement.
Gu Qingqing was Wen Guiyun’s disciple and was quite favored, holding a high position in Lingxi Sacred Land. Jun Wu was Jun Yutian’s son, the Saint Heir of Yunlan Sacred Land and the future Saint Master. Their union represented a strong alliance between Yunlan Sacred Land and Lingxi Sacred Land, especially now that Lingxi Sacred Land suddenly produced five Half-step Immortal Rank individuals; they were unaware Gu Qingqing had also promoted to Half-step Immortal Rank.
As the subjects of the discussion, Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu couldn’t help but find the talk about their wedding amusing; fortunately, they were already accustomed to being the topic of conversation and did not mind much.
One thing that relieved Gu Qingqing and Jun Wu was that the matter of Gu Qingqing possessing the Power of Word Spirit hadn’t spread across the continent, known only to those who witnessed her speaking initially.
Yun Ran had long informed her father and elder brother about Gu Qingqing and the others’ visit, and the Yun Family had prepared accordingly.
When Gu Qingqing left last time, they learned of her identity, causing incredible shock and regret—shock at Gu Qingqing’s high status and regret for not building better relations with her then.
Now, knowing not only Gu Qingqing was coming back but also Si Lin and the others, the Yun Family was very excited.
The Yun Family Master hadn’t anticipated that one day, his Yun Family would form connections with such a titan as Lingxi Sacred Land. While the Yun Family seemed respectable in Huazhou City, they were insignificant in the whole Sub-immortal Realm.
Numerous forces in the Sub-immortal Realm wished to connect with the formidable vessel that was Lingxi Sacred Land, yet few caught Wen Guiyun’s eye. Many sought proximity but lacked connections; the Yun Family, due to Yun Ran, directly linked with some of Lingxi Sacred Land’s most promising young individuals. How could the Yun Family Master not be thrilled?
To prevent Si Lin and the others from forming negative impressions of the Yun Family, everyone in the Yun Family was instructed before their arrival not to anger Si Lin and the others, even reminding the children.
When Gu Qingqing and the others arrived, the Yun Family was at the gate to greet them. Seeing Si Lin and the others, they appeared somewhat nervous, but Yun Ran mediated, avoiding any awkwardness on both sides.
Once everyone was inside, the Yun Family Master sensibly dismissed the other family members early, while he accompanied Si Lin and the others to inspect the courtyard arranged for them.
"Mr. Si, space is limited at the Yun Family, and we must inconvenience you all to share a courtyard. Please don’t mind." As he spoke, the Yun Family Master kept an eye on Si Lin’s expression, fearing his displeasure.
Ordinarily, given Si Lin and their status, each should be allocated a courtyard, but the Yun Family was small. It already housed many clansmen, and lately, more people arrived due to Yun Ran’s impending wedding, so they could only allocate one courtyard to Si Lin and the others.
"No matter, it’s we who are imposing on the Yun Family Master." Yue Zhao warmly replied nearby.
Typically, when they went out, Yue Zhao handled interactions, and this occasion was no exception.
"Not at all, your visit is already an honor to the Yun Family." Seeing Si Lin and the others genuinely didn’t mind, the Yun Family Master silently praised them in his heart while tactfully lauding Yue Zhao and the others.
The Yun Family Master couldn’t arrange room allocations himself; when rooms were prepared, each had identical furnishings and decorations, with location as the sole variance. Such details were best left to Si Lin and the others to determine.
After confirming the courtyard was in order, the Yun Family Master instructed Yun Ran to tend to Si Lin and the others before taking his leave.
Yun Ran was quite familiar with Si Lin and the others, having known them over ten years, so she no longer spoke with the initial caution. She invited Si Lin and the others to tell her directly if anything was amiss, promising to resolve it for them.
