Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Help Me Get It Out

Nina Wynn was horrified and struggled violently.

But it was too late. The door clicked shut, and a hand clamped tightly over her mouth.

"Don’t scream!"

Nina Wynn grabbed the hand and bit down hard. The man cried out in pain, immediately seizing her by the jaw and pinning her against the wall.

"Don’t move! I’m not going to hurt you!"

The man’s voice was low and hoarse, sounding somewhat weak. The thick stench of blood hung in the air.

Nina Wynn paid him no mind, kicking out wildly.

The man used his leg to press her against the wall, jamming a cold weapon into her waist. "Move again, and I won’t be so nice!"

With that thing pressed against her, a paralyzing numbness shot up Nina Wynn’s spine, and she froze.

Seeing that she had complied, the man grabbed her and pulled her deeper into the room.

In the darkness, she couldn’t make out his face, but a flash of lightning revealed a tall, powerfully built man dressed in black. He did not look like a good person.

She trembled with fear but forced herself to calm down. ’I’ve run into a robber, and a desperate one at that.’

The guests in a high-end hotel like this were either rich or powerful. This man must be after money, but he’d definitely grabbed the wrong person.

"I have no money and no power. It’s useless to take me."

The man’s voice was low and hoarse as he pushed her into a corner. "Where’s your phone?"

With a sharp knife pressed against her, Nina Wynn didn’t dare to move. "I don’t have my phone with me."

The man didn’t believe her and patted her down, but sure enough, he found nothing.

The man cursed under his breath, then said, "I’m not going to hurt you, but you have to help me."

The man’s towering figure terrified Nina Wynn. Despair washed over her. ’If he dares to do anything to me,’ she thought, ’I’ll take him down with me.’

"I’m injured. Help me get this bullet out. Afterward, I’ll give you a huge sum of money, enough to set you up for life."

The thick smell of blood told Nina Wynn he wasn’t lying, and the sharp knife at her waist was very real. She didn’t dare move, trying her best to remain calm. "I’m not a doctor. I don’t know how to remove a bullet."

Her voice trembled.

Just then, another flash of lightning illuminated Nina Wynn’s pale face.

The man froze. "It’s you!"

Nina Wynn faltered, her voice quavering. "You know me?"

The man stood up and flicked on the light. "It’s me!"

In the light, she saw a tall, formidable man with sharp brows and piercing eyes—a strikingly handsome face.

But Nina Wynn didn’t recognize him.

The man held a dagger that glinted coldly in one hand. His other arm hung limply at his side, blood dripping steadily from it.

"Two months ago, in your school’s parking lot. You were hiding from Caleb Rhodes. I helped you."

Nina Wynn’s head snapped up, and she stared at the man. "It was you?!"

She had been dead drunk at the time and couldn’t remember the man’s face, but his voice and build did seem similar to the person from that night.

The man, thinking Nina Wynn remembered him, breathed a sigh of relief. "Are you with the Rhodes family? That night, Caleb Rhodes said you were one of the Rhodes’ kids."

Nina Wynn didn’t deny it. She let out a huge sigh of relief internally. If she remembered correctly, Caleb Rhodes had called him Finn Prescott that night.

’Finn Prescott?’

’Crystal Rhodes’s fiancé?’

A cold glint flashed in Nina Wynn’s eyes before she quickly lowered her gaze. "I remember you."

Finn Prescott seemed to relax, though he still held the knife. His voice was laced with exhaustion and weakness. "Help me get the bullet out. It’s poisoned. If it’s not out within half an hour, I’ll die."

With that, he grabbed Nina Wynn’s arm and, without waiting for her consent, dragged her into the bathroom.

Nina Wynn didn’t fight back, nor did she refuse. She allowed him to pull her into the bathroom.

As soon as they were inside, Finn Prescott tore off his shirt and threw the bloody garment into the tub. "It’s in my back left shoulder. I can’t reach it. Use the dagger to cut the flesh open and dig the bullet out with your fingers."

He shoved the dagger into Nina Wynn’s hand, stepped into the bathtub, and turned his back to her.

How could Nina Wynn possibly know how to do this? The only thing she’d ever dissected was a frog in middle school.

Although her college courses included basic first aid, that was just classroom practice. She’d never had to perform a real-life operation like this.

Her hands trembled, and her voice shook. "I don’t know how."

Finn Prescott gritted his teeth and snarled, "Hurry up. We’re running out of time."

Trembling, Nina Wynn stepped forward and aimed the sharp dagger at the bloody hole in Finn Prescott’s shoulder.

"Hurry up! What are you dawdling for? If the poison takes hold, you won’t get away either. I’ll strangle you with my bare hands!"

His voice was exceptionally sharp. "Do it!"

Gazing at the mangled, bloody wound, Nina Wynn’s hands wouldn’t stop shaking, and her voice trembled. "I... I can’t..."

Finn Prescott whipped around, his eyes bloodshot. He glared viciously at Nina Wynn. "If you don’t get this out, I won’t let you leave. Not only will you die with me, but your whole body will rot, and your guts will spill out!"

Nina Wynn’s hand trembled, and the knife CLATTERED to the floor.

The veins on Finn Prescott’s neck bulged as he ground out, "You’re with the Rhodes family, right? Crystal Rhodes is my friend. Help me, and you’ll be doing her a favor, okay?"

Nina Wynn quickly regained her composure. "What is your relationship with Crystal Rhodes?"

Finn Prescott looked ready to explode, but he had no choice but to soften his tone. "We’re on good terms. Just hurry. The poison will be released in half an hour. I’ll explain everything after you get it out. Faster."

"Fine!"

A strange look flashed in Nina Wynn’s eyes. She bent down, picked up the knife, and aimed the sharp, cold tip at Finn Prescott’s back.

Finn Prescott took a deep breath. "Don’t be scared. Just do what I say."

The bullet was lodged against the edge of the bone. It wasn’t too deep and was easy to find. In just under ten minutes, a black slug fell to the floor.

As the faint metallic sound hit the floor, Finn Prescott let out a long breath.

His face was ashen, his lips gray. He propped himself up and said, "There’s a small first-aid kit in the cabinet by the bed. Get it and help me stop the bleeding."

Soon, she had the kit. Following his instructions, Nina Wynn gave him an injection and applied an antiseptic solution.

Luckily, the bullet had missed any major blood vessels, so Finn Prescott hadn’t lost too much blood.

After bandaging the wound, Nina Wynn cleaned up the bathroom. She couldn’t do anything about the bloody shirt, however, so she just left it to soak in the tub.

When she had finished and came out, she saw Finn Prescott had opened a window and was leaning against the frame, smoking.

The rain outside had lessened. Wind gusted through the window, sweeping his hair back and revealing that strikingly handsome face.

He was shirtless, wearing only a pair of black trousers that left his powerful physique on full display.

He bent one long leg and looked lazily at Nina Wynn, finishing his cigarette in just three or four drags.

"Who are you really? Leo Rhodes’s illegitimate child?"

Before he could finish, a heavy pounding came from the door. "Open up!"

The color drained from Nina Wynn’s face.

It was Caleb Rhodes!
