My Ex-Wife Disappeared for Years and Had My Babies-Chapter 142 - 109: The Wedding Photo in the Wallet
Chapter 142 -109: The Wedding Photo in the Wallet
The car had just come to a stop when Shen Hanxiu walked straight over, opened the door, and picked up Su Zhen, but his gaze fell on Su Nian in front of him.
Today she was wearing a simple dress, and perhaps because she had twisted her foot, she was wearing flats today, making her a good deal shorter than him.
Their eyes met, Su Nian glared at him unhappily before shifting her gaze away and reaching over to hold Su Bao’s hand.
“Uncle Shen, have you seen the photos I took?”
Hearing Su Zhen start to brag, Shen Hanxiu withdrew his gaze to that cute little face and said, “I have seen them, prettier than a princess.”
Su Zhen giggled, wanting to get down and walk by herself, her little hand pulling on Shen Hanxiu’s on one side and Su Nian’s on the other, looking to others like the image of a happy family straight out of the news.
Inside the elevator, Shen Hanxiu noticed that Su Nian was still giving him that indifferent look, clearly, the apologies she made last night were all to fob him off.
Looking at the small scar on the corner of her lip, he asked, “Does your mouth still hurt?”
Su Nian was startled, the two kids looked over at her mouth, and she pursed her lips and glared fiercely at Shen Hanxiu. She had never encountered someone so shameless as to act coy after taking advantage!
Without waiting for Su Nian to answer, Su Zhen persisted, “Mom, what happened to your mouth? Squat down so Zhenzhen can take a look.”
Su Nian touched her head, “It’s nothing, I bit it while eating.”
Su Zhen laughed and said, “Mom is so silly!”
Shen Hanxiu just smiled and said nothing, which caused Su Nian to keep rolling her eyes at him.
The elevator stopped at the floor of Ziyan’s ward. As soon as the doors opened, there stood a man in a white coat outside. He glanced at the family of four inside and was the first to speak, “Nian’nian, why have you come to the hospital again?”
Upon seeing Su Yuecheng, the expression on Su Nian’s face immediately became more amiable, and she smiled, “Uncle Cheng, you personally inspecting your work today?”
“Great Uncle, hello!” Su Zhen jumped in.
He smiled and asked, “Is someone sick again?”
“No, just visiting a friend in the hospital.”
Su Yuecheng picked up on Shen Hanxiu’s unfriendly gaze but kept a gentle demeanor, without probing further about the friend’s condition. He looked at Su Nian and said, “Your auntie is hospitalized, in the very last room on this floor. See if you want to go visit.”
“My auntie is hospitalized? What’s wrong with her?”
Su Yuecheng fell silent, barely audible he sighed before saying, “Breast cancer.”
Su Nian paused, then listened to Su Yuecheng continue, “She doesn’t want to tell Carey, so don’t you say anything either.”
“Is the situation… really bad?”
Su Yuecheng gently shook his head, “Hard to say, but at best, three years left. Everyone has their own fate, go see her.”
Really, the good die young. Su Yali has not had many stable days in her life, always seeming like a guest in the Su Family, her and her child’s life is already hard enough, and now she’s contracted this disease. Carey is only ten years old, and if she, at best, has only three years left, what will Carey do when the time comes?

Shen Hanxiu watched Su Nian’s worried look, stepped forward to put his arms around her shoulders, and said, “You even worry about other people’s affairs?”
Su Nian dodged his hand, not surprised by his lack of empathy since it’s not the first time she’s witnessed it.
Holding Su Zhen and Su Bao, she said, “Let’s go, we’ll go see your auntie.”
Worried her Uncle Shen might feel abandoned, Su Zhen hastily turned back to grab Shen Hanxiu’s hand, “Uncle Shen, come with us!”
“Mom, is auntie going to die?” Su Bao raised his head to ask Su Nian.
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
“Mom, Su Bao always says crazy things, let’s ignore him!”
They first went to Ziyan’s ward. There was no one inside, but her daily necessities were still there. She might have gone for a check-up, so Su Nian decided to first visit Su Yali.
In the ward, a doctor was giving Su Yali a new IV drip, with Carey sitting silently by the bed.
“Here’s the prescription, go downstairs to get the medicine,” the doctor handed the prescription to Carey, but Su Yali intercepted it, replying, “Alright, thank you doctor.”
She knew they had no money left; that money should be saved for Carey’s tuition when school starts.
“Mom, give me the prescription.”
Only then did Su Nian walk in and called out, “Auntie…”
Su Yali, seeing that Su Nian and her family had come, put on a pale smile, “Nian’nian, why have you come?”
“Uncle Cheng told me.”
From the way Su Yali snatched the prescription, Su Nian guessed that mother and son had run out of money.
When the Su Family was thriving, they only gave mother and son just enough to eat; Su Yali, not one for words and having a reserved personality, never found a particularly good job. She could barely claim to have savings.
Su Nian was about to take the prescription and go down to get the medicine herself, but remembered upon touching her purse, that most of her cash and bank cards were in the bag she carried yesterday. This one she had now only contained the spare change left over from her last shopping trip.
