My Ex-husband Asked Me to Remarry Him Every Day-Chapter 567 - 559 I Really Like You
She knew she wouldn’t get him to talk about things he didn’t want to discuss, so Xie Baola didn’t press further. Instead, she changed tactics, "I won’t take these snacks with me. I’ll come over to eat again next time. Your cooking is too good to waste."
Seeing Xie Baola stand up, Chen Jiayan stood as well, "I’ll walk you downstairs."
Xie Baola turned to look at him, puzzled, "Walk me downstairs for what? I didn’t say I was leaving yet."
Chen Jiayan didn’t understand.
"I’m just taking out the trash, did you think I was going home?"
Xie Baola smiled, swinging the bag of snacks in her hand.
Then, she huffed, "I’m telling you, it’s easy to invite gods, hard to send them away."
Letting her leave was out of the question.
Chen Jiayan: "..."
He saw that now.
But he seemed to not regret having called her over.
Xie Baola raised her eyebrows, "Chen Jiayan, I saw there’s a guest room in your house. I’ll rest here this afternoon."
It was an opportunity that had presented itself.
She couldn’t let it slip away.
Chen Jiayan’s eyes narrowed, "... how do you know my house has a guest room?"
"Ah, last time I was here, you said I could do whatever I wanted, so I took a walk around and discovered it," Xie Baola grinned, her eyes sparkling, "So can I borrow the guest room for a nap?"
Before Chen Jiayan could reply, Xie Baola added, "Or I can borrow your master bedroom, I don’t mind."
Chen Jiayan: "..."
Xie Baola tuned to the TV channel she wanted to watch.
"I’ll watch TV for a bit then go to sleep. If you’re sleepy, go ahead and take a nap. Don’t mind me."
Xie Baola turned to glance at him, then back at the TV.
She also pulled another pack of snacks from under the coffee table.
She shook them at Chen Jiayan, "See, I’m tackling the snacks now. I’ll make sure to finish them off, don’t worry."
She’d manage to clear out the snacks in a few more visits.
Chen Jiayan: "..."
He wasn’t sleepy, either.
In fact, he kind of enjoyed the noise.
Chen Jiayan leaned back on the couch and joined Xie Baola in watching TV.
The TV was playing an American movie.
With Chinese subtitles.
A thriller.
The plot was quite fascinating.
Xie Baola got thirsty from all the snacks and went to get some water.
She pulled out a bottle from the fridge, "Chen Jiayan, do you want some?"
Chen Jiayan nodded, "Hmm."
Xie Baola then grabbed another bottle.
She walked back to the sofa.
As she passed Chen Jiayan, Xie Baola pressed the cold bottle against his face.
Chen Jiayan jerked from the chill, frowning.
Seeing his reaction, Xie Baola couldn’t help but laugh mischievously.
He looked up at the prankster, his eyes clear and sharp.
"Here."
Chen Jiayan took the bottle, unscrewed the cap and took a sip, calming the heat inside him.
Xie Baola twisted the cap, couldn’t open it, turned to the man next to her and handed him the bottle.
This was where men came in handy.
Chen Jiayan, puzzled, "What for?"
Xie Baola slightly tilted her chin, "It’s just so strange, I can’t open this cap."
"..."
Chen Jiayan paused for a few seconds, then helped her open the cap.
Xie Baola smiled at him, "Thank you, you’re really strong."
The way she said it sounded a bit exaggerated to Chen Jiayan.
He stared intently at Xie Baola, his eyes assessing, "Tell me the truth, are you pretending to be weak?"
Xie Baola laughed loudly, neither denying nor admitting.
"What do you think?"
Naturally, Chen Jiayan had no response.
Xie Baola said, "Pretending to be a little weak in front of a man you like can enhance the relationship."
Chen Jiayan: "... And where did you learn that twisted reasoning?"
Xie Baola pursed her lips, "Who made you indifferent no matter what I do?"
Of course, it wasn’t entirely indifference.
He didn’t know how to describe such emotions or even feelings.
After the movie ended, Xie Baola stood up and stretched, "Time for that nap."
Xie Baola’s eyes drooped, slightly curled, "Good friend, I’ll still have dinner here tonight, is that okay?"
Before Chen Jiayan could answer, Xie Baola walked towards the guest room.
Chen Jiayan woke up from his nap first.
The house was very quiet.
So quiet he could even hear his own breathing.
Chen Jiayan went to the living room for a glass of water—the living room was empty, no sign of Xie Baola.
Her shoes were still neatly placed on the floor.
Chen Jiayan put down his cup and walked towards the room.
He opened the guest room’s door.
Xie Baola hadn’t locked it.
He pushed the door and entered.
He had initially bought the three-room apartment for convenience.
Though he had set up a guest room, no one had stayed there before.
Xie Baola was the first to stay over.
She was still asleep.
Lying on the bed, she smelled sweet.
The room didn’t have the curtains drawn, so the outside light shone in, filling the bedroom with natural brightness.
Her small face was flawless, her lips naturally red and beautiful.
Of course, even more beautiful was her face.
It was as if the air had stopped flowing at that moment.
The dust floating in the air also ceased its movement.
In this setting, they were highlighted.
Chen Jiayan was in the midst of it.
Unaware that his gaze had also paused.
Paused on her face.
Chen Jiayan looked at her delicate features, even his breathing became subconsciously lighter.
Suddenly, he remembered what Da Pao had said.
[Xie Paula is so pretty, any guy who becomes her boyfriend is really lucky.]
[Who doesn’t like Xie Paula, yet people who win her affection are few.]
[If her status wasn’t so intimidating, I’d do anything to have her.]
It was clear that Xie Baola was quite liked in their circle of friends.
Even Da Pao, who teased her like a brother, harbored those thoughts.
Was he one of those rare few then?
In his focused state, Xie Baola slowly opened her eyes.
The sunlight seemed to dance on her eyelashes.
Her eyelashes were black and long, especially thick, like a little fan.
As her eyes opened, revealing the beautiful eyeballs inside.
Clear, reflecting his image.
Chen Jiayan was as if frozen in place.
When their eyes met, he even forgot to react.
Xie Baola hadn’t expected to see Chen Jiayan as soon as she opened her eyes.
Luckily it was daytime and not night.
Otherwise, she might have thought she was dreaming.
Neither spoke.
Xie Baola was the first to smile, her eyes showing some triumph.
"Did you sneak a peek at me while I was sleeping?"
Caught red-handed!
Denying it seemed somewhat insincere.
So Chen Jiayan stayed silent.
Suddenly, he felt an urge to retreat.
As Chen Jiayan was about to rise, Xie Baola quickly reached out and grabbed his wrist.
Chen Jiayan turned to her.
Xie Baola held his hand without letting go, "I really like you, to an unbelievable degree."
She paused, "Chen Jiayan, do you believe it?"
