My Ex-Husband Always Knew That I Had Cheated on Him-Chapter 347 - 345: Three Days
Chloe Simpson instinctively asked a question and was stunned.
She truly didn’t expect Lucas Hughes to appear here.
Her interview was scheduled for 10:30 a.m., a time when Lucas should be at work — how could he possibly be here?
A sudden thought popped into her mind.
Lucas Hughes had followed her here.
But as soon as this thought emerged, she quickly dismissed it.
How could that be?
Lucas and she had divorced long ago with so many things happening; their relationship had already soured.
How could he have followed her here?
Moreover, how could Lucas know where she was having her interview?
After analyzing, Chloe immediately dispelled the idea.
"I came here to visit a relative, and you?"
Lucas Hughes casually found an excuse.
In reality, he was following Chloe.
Yesterday, during a commotion in the meeting room, he was performing surgery.
When he finished and arrived, he saw Chloe and those women in a chaotic scene.
He didn’t intervene and instead watched from a distance.
Others were merely watching the drama unfold; those women fighting with Chloe were venting, retaliating, and kicking her while she was down. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Only Lucas watched from afar, witnessing the skirmish, and instantly recalled memories of their time together.
After all those years of marriage.
Not having touched this woman — how could he be content?
After all, he paid such a steep price to pursue her.
Nearly ending as a permanent cripple — wouldn’t it be a pity not to have some fun?
Initially, Lucas felt that with Alexander Johnson protecting Chloe, he had no chance.
So, he let it go.
Even if he felt unwilling, there was nothing he could do but begrudgingly accept.
However, with Alexander and Chloe at odds, his heart began to stir again.
Though his desires surfaced, considering their current strained relations.
Previously, his arrogance stemmed from having Gabriella Dyer’s backing.
But after failing to complete his last task, Gabriella didn’t seek him out again.
He realized that to someone like Gabriella, he was merely a tool with value.
Once useless, he’d be immediately discarded.
And a small fry like him wasn’t qualified to contend with the famed Mrs. Johnson.
Knowing that she could end him effortlessly.
So, upon seeing Chloe in distress yesterday, he could only imagine.
Unexpectedly, after Chloe’s altercation and Jack Woods left with his people,
he received a call from Selene Wilson.
"Lucas Hughes, I know you’ve always felt unsatisfied. Initially, to win Chloe, you nearly destroyed yourself, becoming a eunuch. Now, having regained your abilities, wouldn’t you want to have some fun with Chloe? After all, she’s the woman you yearned to sleep with."
Lucas was utterly shocked that Selene would say such a thing.
"Miss Wilson, considering your abilities, I’m certain you’re aware of what’s transpired between Chloe and me recently. She already knows everything; there’s no chance for us anymore."
"Yes, I want to have fun with her; I’m unwilling, but there’s no reason to risk imprisonment over this refusal."
"Having known Chloe for years, I’m sure of her nature. If I force anything, she will definitely report to the police, without doubt."
Though Lucas desired, he wouldn’t act recklessly; he was well aware of his limits.
Reaching a doctorate in medicine isn’t due to luck or being a fool.
He wasn’t just a clueless thug.
Playing with women is doable, but not if it means compromising himself.
Not worth it!
Especially with a woman like Chloe.
Although the small spark inside him was always tickling his heart, he didn’t expect Selene’s subsequent words to drive him insane again.
The spark ignited a wildfire completely.
"Dr. Hughes, I trust your judgment. Having been with her for years, you definitely understand her best. But as long as you wish, I will unconditionally support you."
"Think about it, Chloe’s unemployed now, her mom has heart disease, and she and Alexander are at odds. She’s at her most vulnerable now."
"Being a woman, I understand us perfectly, at her point now, a bit of warmth would completely win her over."
"I’ll support you, provide you with utmost help, even get you this woman. Whatever amount you need is available. If not, I can simply find another man."
"Trust me, faced with such a beautiful woman and money on offer, many men would jump at the opportunity. So, if you’re not interested, that’s fine."
Having said her piece, Selene was about to hang up when Lucas hesitated.
"Miss Wilson, I’m curious why you’re doing this? What’s in it for you?"
"Of course, I have my reasons; you don’t need to know. If you’re willing, follow my instructions, and during the process, you get the woman you want and money. I’m sure even a fool would jump at such a chance."
"If you agree, I’ll wire a million to your account. You won’t need to worry about anything else; I’ll handle it all. Just cooperate according to my instructions."
With that agreement, Lucas Hughes and Selene Wilson decided to partner together.
After hanging up, Selene made arrangements, leading to Lucas and Chloe crossing paths today.
At this moment, Chloe had no idea that everything was orchestrated by Selene, including today’s interview.
"If convenient, why don’t we have lunch together? Never mind, I know you wouldn’t want to after everything that’s happened... I’ll head back to the hospital; there’s another surgery this afternoon."
Seeing Chloe’s wariness, Lucas merely exchanged pleasantries and prepared to leave, as Selene suggested.
At the door, he turned back: "Chloe, I know the past mistakes were mine, my fault. I apologize to you, and no matter what happens, you can always call me. Whenever you need, I’m here."
After speaking, Lucas left without waiting for Chloe’s reply.
At that moment, Chloe watched Lucas’s receding figure, feeling as if time had warped.
She seemingly returned to the time when she and Lucas first met, first got together.
Though it was a fleeting memory.
Beyond that, her heart stirred with no emotions.
Lucas Hughes, such a scoundrel, doesn’t deserve forgiveness, pity, nor genuine exchange.
She scorned this man, wishing they’d never cross paths again.
If not for her mom, staying in this city, fearing Lucas’s potential backlash, harming her and her mom, she’d beat him whenever she saw him.
Greeting him? What a joke.
Utter nonsense!
Chloe took a deep breath, hesitated no longer, and turned to leave.
Just after she left, Lucas emerged from a nearby corner.
His phone rang at that moment; it was Selene calling.
"How was it?"
"As expected, Miss Wilson. She barely acknowledged me; only exchanged a couple of lines then left."
Lucas watched Chloe’s departing silhouette as he spoke.
"Don’t worry, three days, no more than three days, trust me."
