My Evil Crown Prince-Chapter 84: Taking The lead
"Do you think we can trust Juliano and Mary? I mean, what if they are just pretending to be an ally?" She asked.
Caden was able to persuade Mary to be his spy and give him all the information she could get from Benjamin. He knew the old man would not stop to get back to the top and his only way for now was to distribute the memory serum.
Juliano agreed to become one of his dealers. He would be the one to recommend Caden as a possible client. They were informed that dealers changed every week, but Juliano would be their first.
"I promised Mary that I’ll transfer her daughter abroad. She’ll continue her studies in Canada. I talked to Brie to help the kid."
She frowned. "Is it really necessary? Taking her away from her mother?"
Caden nodded. "It is. Mary’s work has put her daughter’s life and future in danger. She didn’t realize it until I told her. She wouldn’t betray me for the sake of her daughter.
Caden felt that she had something on her mind. She stared at him with flat silver eyes.
He sighed. "You’re thinking that I am involving and using her daughter to get what I want? Yes, you are right. I have to."
She nodded. "I understand. You don’t need to worry about me. So when would be the first deal? And you said it has to be someone Benjamin wouldn’t suspect. Who is it?"
"Your stalker." Caden calmly answered.
She gave him a questioning look. "Ace?"
"Yes. I offered him a job."
"Did you expose yourself to him?" She asked.
"No. I told him about the serum."
She frowned. "Why would you tell him?"
"When I did some research about him. I found out his father was one of the workers in one of Benjamin’s labs. He worked there for six months. Then one night he went missing. They found after two days walking around Northbay without any memory of himself. He didn’t know his name, where he lives, his wife’s and kids’ names. Totally wiped out."
She was surprised. "Do you think they injected him with the serum?"
Caden slightly sighed and nodded. "And I think they were conducting human experiments. "
"But I thought the serum was already perfect." She exclaimed.
"I don’t think so. The information Benjamin got about the serum was incomplete. Mary said there was something missing in the files. She was certain it wasn’t deleted. Someone stole it."
Her head started to throb. They just got some news about Benjamin’s new scheme and new information about it has begun piling up.
"Caden, your fake grandfather wouldn’t really stop hurting innocent people. If they tested it to Ace’s father, do you think mom was also one of their test subjects?" She asked.
"I’m not sure, Alira. But it’s a possibility."
Her face hardened. Her mouth was in a tight pout. A wave of violent fury rose inside her. Her eyes blazed when she looked Caden in his eyes.
"Mom suffered and Dad, too. Lucas and I grew up knowing that our mom had multiple identities inside her. EI would wake up almost every day with a different woman in front of me. It was a struggle. It was scary at first, but we learned to accept the fact that she would never get better. I never realized that this was done by a human. How could they make my mom’s life a living hell?"
Caden rushed toward her to comfort her. He took her into his arms and embraced her tight.
"Calm down. Don’t say her life was like hell. She got you and Lucas. And you did great at helping her. She would never make it if it weren’t for you. I think she’s very happy now." He said while rubbing her back.
Her heart was in pain and there was rage swept through her like a wildfire. But she couldn’t cry.
"When would be the first deal? I want to know."
"The day after tomorrow."
"Do you think Ace can do it? What if he chickened out?" She asked.
She couldn’t trust the guy because of what happened, but she had faith with Caden’s judgement.
"He would do it for his family. He’s the breadwinner because his father is useless right now. While her mom takes care of his old man and his younger brother."
"Did you forgive him?" She asked.
"Nope. He was fantasizing about you. It’s disgusting. But somehow I understand him. He was frustrated with his life and you’re the only one who made him forget his problems. Unlike us, who was born with everything, he was born with nothing but his family." Caden answered softly.
She took a deep breath to lessen the fury that blocking her lungs.
"I trust you judgement. I wish everything would go as planned. Did Juliano know about Ace? And who would come with him?"
"He knows. We got some new men from A.E headquarters. Those who have not been exposed to Benjamin. I can’t use the men from the clan or the royal guards."
She nodded. She almost forgot that Caden took over A.E headquarters after a duel with Lucas, so he could do anything he wanted.
The facility had six floors, and according to Lucas, each level was handling different departments. The second floor was more like a gym and training area for everyone. The people in the facility were all trained in different martial arts, weapon handling, emergency and rescue operations, and skills that could be used to deceive people.
The third floor was the finance department, where Caden’s father used to work. He was working at the headquarters first before becoming the CEO of A.E Corporation. He handled all financial matters of the facility and Luke’s company.
The fourth floor was the corporate strategy department, where Percival Jackson and Andrew Cross, Brie’s father, used to work. They were in charge of planning and executing the facility’s overall operation.
The fifth floor was the technology and security department where her father’s office was. This was where the primary operation of the headquarters took place. The main frame and the whole security system were on this floor.
The last floor was like a residential area. This is where all the rooms were located. It was a huge area inside where around five hundred people lived.
A.E Headquarters was a secret facility built by the five young men of the wealthiest and most powerful clans. But after being attacked by the mafia clans, her father never finished the main frame. It was ninety percent functional, but the missing ten percent had been the cost of its failure to locate Benjamin.
Now, Caden would use it against his grandfather.
"The headquarters. Can I use it?" She asked.
Caden grabbed her shoulders and jogged her away. His gaze was soft, and he looked at her with deepened interest.
"I asked Brie to take a look at the mainframe and see if she could fix the missing ten percent. I know you would ask her, but she wouldn’t agree because of Lucas. So I asked her to work for me."
"Did she agree?"
She nodded. "Yes. As long as I am the one who will take the lead. She would not accept any orders from you. In short, I am her boss."
Caden chuckled. "You girls have different ways to persuade us men. Since you already had an agreement with her, then that’s fine. But I need a report on its progress everyday." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
She smiled. "Of course!"
"Alira, listen to me. Our fight just barely began. I want you to be strong. I want you to be safe. You can train at the headquarters if you have time, but still attend to your training in Willow Green."
He looked at her desperately, and she knew Caden was scared of what could happen.
She nodded again. That’s the only thing she could do to at least lessen his worries.
"Going to the headquarters would be risky. Go with Brie every weekend. We still have to finish school so Benjamin wouldn’t suspect. Remember, he has eyes everywhere."
"I know. I know." She answered.
Caden sighed and pulled her again in a tight hug. She could hear his heart pounding like a drum. It was beating and screaming out her name.
In a penthouse at Wilson Hotel, a woman with silver hair and gray eyes took a sip of tea and chuckled. Across from her was a woman with brown hair and blue eyes, gracefully watching her friend’s reaction.
"Are you sure you won’t tell your kids about the truth?" Peggy asked Alora.
"Not for now. How about you? You won’t confront your son about being the Boss of your father’s clan?"
Peggy shook her head. "Jayden said to let him be. I talked to my father, and he said it’s for the family’s safety."
"And you believe him? Your father was a controlling man. What if he just wanted to control Caden when he ascend the throne?" Alora stated boldly.
