My Evil Crown Prince-Chapter 49: Memory Serum
She had a smile on her face on their way home. She was happy that she talk to her friends and made up with Samantha.
Her friend told her that she was really in love with Justin and would apologize to him. She also apologized to Caden for her actions and promised that she would not flirt with him again.
Caden patted Samantha’s head which surprised them. He told her she was like Caroline and she actually enjoyed talking to her.
"You happy?" Caden asked.
She nodded. "Yes. Thank you."
She quickly gave him a kiss on the cheek and leaned her head to his shoulder. Then she remembered Ace.
"What will happen to Ace?"
"He will be questioned by Rock."
"Do you think Ace is a stalker?"
"He is a stalker. What I want to know is if he was paid by someone?"
She frowned. She tilted her head and turned to him.
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"There’s a possibility that he was asked to stalk you. I just need to make sure. Samantha is willing to tell everything she shared about you to Ace.
We will soon find out if he also shared it with someone else."
"He told us earlier that he did some research about you. Do you think he did it alone or someone gave him the information?" She asked.
Caden gently touched her face. "We’ll know in the morning. For now, don’t worry too much. I’ll take care of it."
She nodded and then took Caden’s hand to kiss it.
"Do you think I can learn martial arts and how to shoot?"
She wanted to know Caden’s opinion about her willingness to learn self-defense.
"Of course! You’re a brilliant woman. And I’m glad you decided to learn how to fight."
She shook her head. "No. No. Not to fight. I hate violence. But I need to learn how to defend myself."
Caden chuckled. "Fine. Fine. No fighting. But I’m serious, you’ll be great." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
"Okay. I’ll take lessons twice a week." She said.
He nodded. "By the way, we found something about the serum?" Caden said in a serious tone.
Her heart pounded. They finally got a lead with the serum that made her mother to lose her sanity.
"What did you find?"She asked.
"It was called the memory serum and was manufactured in Germany by a drug manufacturing company named Blue Horizon." Caden started.
"Blue Horizon?" She frowned.
Caden nodded. "It’s a multinational conglomerate with subsidiaries active in a variety of industries. It had influence in the production and sale of cosmetics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, industrial machine production, consumer products, and health foods. When they opened their pharmaceutical subsidiary, they started developing biological weapons for the government, including memory serum."
"Is it legal? I mean, I don’t think the government would allow a dangerous drug like that." She said.
Caden handed her a photo and continued.
"That was the building where the company was. They were closed down forty years ago. Their research about memory serum was rejected by the government so they secretly manufactured it and sold them to underground organization like the mafia. They were forced to shut down after their secret was exposed and now it’s just an abandoned place in Germany."
"The mafia? I knew it. They were involve again." She said in gritted teeth.
"Relax." Caden slightly smiled at her. "They said that the serum was created as a truth serum, but later on it was developed to alter memories or to erase your memories completely."
Her heart pounded hearing those words. Was that the reason her mother had gaps in her memory? She thought to herself.
"I’m still not sure, but I think someone injected the memory serum into your mother when they were kidnapped." Caden said softly.
"This is frustrating. I feel like we’ve been going in circles. Our parents were enemies of the mafia and so we are too." She mumbled.
Caden held gently pulled her head to his shoulder so she could lean on him.
"Don’t worry. I’ll make sure this time we will catch them. I don’t want our children to experience what we’ve been through."
She nodded. "Do you think they injected the serum because of what Mom saw?"
"Maybe or maybe not. I think your parents could answer that. Do you think they will tell you about it?" Caden asked.
She sighed. "I honestly don’t know, but I’ll try to convince Mom to tell me what happened."
"I hate to make you do it, but you’re the only one who could talk to your mother."
She nodded. "Yes, I know. Don’t worry about me." Then she tilted her head when something came into her mind.
"You said the company was built in Germany. Where was it built?" She asked.
"Berlin. Why do you ask?"
"The Trekker Clan. Are they from Berlin?"
Caden seemed surprised. It didn’t come to his mind the possibility that the Trekker Clan was somehow connected to Blue Horizon.
He took his iPad and opened the file Brie sent him. He smirked after reading what was on it.
"You’re absolutely right, my love. It’s the same city. And according to Brie’s report, there was a woman who lived here in Northbay twenty years ago. She’s one of the researchers of memory serum." Caden said.
"Do you she’s still alive?"
Caden shrugged his shoulders. "We’re going to find out tomorrow. The last place she was at, was a retirement home. There’s only one here in Northbay City."
She nodded. "The serum in Willow Green? How did you get it? You said it was manufactured four decades ago, why do you have them?"
Caden smiled. "You’re very observant, but I like that. And the answer to your question is because we discovered that memory serum is still on the black market. The production never stopped. Most of the clients are the mafia."
She frowned. "But if the company was closed down forty years ago, where is it being produced now? And I’m sure most of the people behind the research were either too old or dead."
Caden nodded. "But what if one of them sold the research itself to the mafia and the clan who has it was the one making it?"
"Are you thinking about your grandfather, Matthew, or the other one, Benjamin Miller?"
