My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 691: Not Even a First Stroke Yet
Back home, Sanbao’s face was cold. "Where is he?"
Erbao, who was following behind for the spectacle, casually picked up some sunflower seeds and started cracking them.
In the living room, only Zhang Yuxi was sitting and reading. "He’s in the kitchen with your dad!" she said. If I don’t keep an eye on them, I’m afraid they’ll set the kitchen on fire.
Sanbao trotted to the kitchen. Erbao followed, taking the opportunity to compliment their mother. "Mom, you look so beautiful today! Very commanding!"
A woman’s makeup can also be a weapon.
Zhang Yuxi tugged the corners of her mouth into a smile. "You’re laying it on a bit thick, aren’t you?"
Erbao stuck out her tongue, looking nothing like a CEO.
The scene in the kitchen was quite lively. Shao Yang had sent his subordinates away and was now trying to show off his skills. Lin Feng had gone in just to watch, only to discover the man was all thumbs, unable to do this or that.
How could the great Chef Lin stand for it? He couldn’t help but start directing from the side.
"Hey, you’re cutting that too thick! Slow down, be careful not to cut your hand!"
"This peel hasn’t been cleaned off properly. You can’t do it like that."
"Whoa, you’ll get shells in the eggs!"
Gradually, he went from directing to taking over the knife himself.
"Look, you have to cut it like this!" Lin Feng demonstrated.
Shao Yang immediately laid on the flattery. "Wow, Uncle, that’s amazing! It’s so thin! How did you do that?"
Honestly, besides his own family praising his cooking, he couldn’t remember the last time he’d heard compliments from anyone else. And the key was that Shao Yang’s praise sounded so natural and heartfelt!
Lin Feng couldn’t hide a trace of pride. "This takes a lot of practice. I’ve been cooking for over twenty years, ever since Sanbao and her sisters were just a few months old."
Shao Yang’s eyes widened. "I can’t believe it. Uncle, you’re incredible!"
"Wow, and this... how did it suddenly turn into that? How did you do it, Uncle? It’s like magic!"
Lin Feng explained, "This requires real knife skills, too. The techniques you’ve learned are no good. You could maybe manage scrambled eggs with tomato, but that’s about it."
The two were completely absorbed in their own world in the kitchen, utterly oblivious to Erbao and Sanbao, who had been watching from the doorway for a long time.
Erbao whispered, "He’s not so dumb. He knows how to play to their interests and keep Mom and Dad happy."
Despite her cold personality, Sanbao was actually the most filial of them all. If their parents were keen on matchmaking, Sanbao would agree even if she wasn’t happy about it.
Lin Feng heard a noise behind him and said without turning, "You’re back?"
Shao Yang turned his head and saw Sanbao looking at him, her expression unreadable. Behind her, Erbao was enthusiastically cracking sunflower seeds and offered him a smile. No matter what, whether this man becomes my brother-in-law or not, I should make the most of this connection. That was unlikely to turn sour, anyway. We’re all in the same circle; it wouldn’t get that ugly.
Shao Yang was clearly trying to ingratiate himself, but his good breeding and status made it seem less deliberate. "Uncle is amazing, he’s a fantastic cook. You have no idea what he just..."
Lin Feng told Shao Yang to get out of the kitchen, insisting he could handle it. At his pace, it’s questionable whether we’ll even have dinner tonight.
Sanbao then called Shao Yang out to the garden.
Lin Feng glanced at Erbao. "What are you just standing there for? Help me."
Erbao put the sunflower seeds in her pocket and came over to help. "Dad, what do you think of Shao Yang?"
Lin Feng said nonchalantly, "Time will tell. We’ve only known him for a few hours, how would I know?"
Erbao pressed, "I don’t mean that. What do you think of his personal and family background?"
Lin Feng glanced at her. "Of course, they’re beyond question. But even if Sanbao liked someone with no family background, as long as she’s happy, I’d support her."
Erbao smiled brightly. She knew their dad doted on them the most.
Once the meal was ready and the table was set, Sanbao and Shao Yang returned. They had clearly discussed something, because Shao Yang was visibly happy. At the dinner table, he praised every dish with every bite.
Erbao was highly amused. "Shao Yang, I’m older than Sanbao. You should at least call me ’Big Sis’."
Shao Yang, ever the sweet-talker, quickly complied.
Sanbao said little, simply eating her food and completely ignoring the man beside her who was both eager to please and clearly out of his depth.
After lunch, Shao Yang mentioned he would be staying the night and flying back tomorrow. As he spoke, he glanced at Sanbao.
She paid him no mind, which left him looking crestfallen.
The future heir to a top luxury brand, being completely ignored by their precious daughter... Honestly, Lin Feng even felt a pang of sympathy for the guy. He looked quite pitiful.
After the meal, Erbao, Sanbao, and Shao Yang got up to leave. In the kitchen, Shao Yang, trying to make a good impression, eagerly ran to wash the dishes.
Unsurprisingly, he broke a few plates.
Lin Feng winced. That was his favorite set of dinnerware! "Sanbao, you all go on and get to your business," he said. His subtext was clear: Get this little menace out of here before he wrecks my entire kitchen!
Once everyone was gone, Zhang Yuxi went to remove her makeup. "Honey, you seem to like Shao Yang quite a bit."
Still heartbroken over his plates, Lin Feng was already online looking for replacements. "He’s alright. Seems like a decent kid."
"Ultimately, it’s up to Sanbao to decide. It’s not like I’m the one who has to live with him."
Zhang Yuxi, who had been quiet for a while, now started talking nonstop, revealing she also had a good impression of Shao Yang. "Honey, if Sanbao really does marry him, she’ll have to move abroad, won’t she? What if she gets bullied so far away from home?"
Lin Feng glanced at his wife. "We’re getting way ahead of ourselves. Nothing’s even close to happening yet."
Zhang Yuxi sighed. "We still have to think ahead. Why don’t you go ask Erbao what the situation is?"
Lin Feng replied distractedly, "You go. That’s girl talk, it’s not my place to ask."
Zhang Yuxi frowned. "If I ask, that girl won’t tell me the truth." In their family, they were a classic case of good cop, bad cop—a kind father and a strict mother. The children had always been closer to their father, so Zhang Yuxi had no choice but to keep playing the part of the stern mom.
"Are you listening? Are you going to go or not?" she pressed.
"Alright, alright, I’ll go! I’ll ask them as soon as they get back."
Their children were grown, and like all parents, their greatest concern was their future happiness. It was a matter that couldn’t be rushed or pushed openly, leaving them to worry in secret.
That night, the couple lay in bed, both awake. One was reading a book, the other was looking over some files.
Hearing a noise outside, Zhang Yuxi immediately sat up. "Honey, go see if Erbao and the others are back."
"They just walked in," Lin Feng mumbled. "Let them rest for a minute."
Five minutes later, Zhang Yuxi nudged him again. "Hurry up. If they go to sleep, it’ll be too awkward."
Lin Feng gave his wife a speechless look that seemed to say, *And you’re just realizing how inconvenient this is now?*
Zhang Yuxi quickly flashed a placating smile. "Honey, you’re the best! I love you the most! Sending you hearts!"
Lin Feng chuckled. "You only get this cute when you want something from me."
Zhang Yuxi blushed. "Just go!"
