My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 682: Time Cannot Fade the Beauty!
The school year began in September as scheduled. Xiaobao, who had grown considerably taller, stood out from her female classmates, and indeed, from the entire class. Having been raised in the lap of luxury, she was clad from head to toe in her family’s own clothing brand. Luxury items were reserved for days when she wasn’t attending school.
On the first day of school, Xiaobao’s face was a picture of agony. "I’d rather be an actress than go to school!"
Her complaints sounded just like those of a typical nine-to-fiver dreading the morning grind.
Er Bao was her own boss. She set her own work hours and could arrive late if nothing important was happening at the company. Besides, with a pile of designs waiting for her, she was never idle anyway.
At the breakfast table, Lin Feng, Zhang Yuxi, Sanbao, and Xiaobao were eating together.
No sooner had Xiaobao finished speaking than Zhang Yuxi’s expression darkened. "What did you just say?"
Most families had a gentle mother and a strict father, but theirs was the opposite: a gentle father and a strict mother. In a few years, Zhang Yuxi would be stepping down from her position as principal, with a higher one awaiting her. These days, every move she made exuded the aura of a powerful woman. When she got angry, the children were genuinely afraid of her.
Xiaobao shuddered and quickly settled down to eat properly.
Sanbao shot her a sympathetic glance. "Eat up. Your sister will take you to school in a bit."
Xiaobao muttered an "okay."
Lin Feng was driving Zhang Yuxi to work that day because her car was in for service and wouldn’t be back until the next day. Although they had several other cars at home, Lin Feng was free and decided to accompany his wife. It felt like it had been a long time since he’d last driven her to work. After breakfast, everyone went their separate ways.
When it was just the two of them, Zhang Yuxi was all tenderness.
Lin Feng said he wouldn’t come back for lunch; he would eat out with Zhang Yuxi and they’d come home together after work.
Zhang Yuxi smiled softly. "Alright."
When the car pulled up to the school gate, Zhang Yuxi stepped out and immediately drew the attention of everyone nearby. Lin Feng rolled down the window, and his handsome, youthful face made the onlookers gasp. My god, is that the principal’s husband? Isn’t he a bit too young and handsome?
Although the onlookers couldn’t hear what the couple said, it was obvious they had a wonderful relationship.
As the car drove away, Zhang Yuxi’s smile faded, and she reverted to being the stern, unsmiling principal. She walked elegantly, heading straight for her office with her clutch. She would offer a polite smile when greeting acquaintances or students she passed along the way.
It’s true what they say—time cannot wither true beauty. Our principal is so elegant, so beautiful! For a moment, we don’t even know who to envy.
Sanbao drove Xiaobao to school, taking meticulous care of her and speaking in an especially gentle tone. "Cheer up. Once this semester is over, it’ll be the New Year, and then we can all go out and have fun, alright?"
The previously crestfallen Xiaobao finally perked up. "So when is the New Year?"
Sanbao smiled faintly. "In a few months. It’ll be here before you know it!"
Xiaobao murmured an "okay." Seeing they had arrived at the school gate, she sighed with an air of resignation. Sanbao laughed helplessly and led her into the school.
Sanbao’s beauty was becoming more celestial by the day, the kind of stunning beauty that left anyone who saw her in awe. She was not only elegant, intellectual, fashionable, and beautiful, but also talented. It seemed as if every wonderful quality had converged in her. She possessed a nobility that made people feel they could only admire her from a distance, never daring to approach.
Holding the hand of a sluggish Xiaobao, Sanbao asked, "Did your classroom change?"
Xiaobao looked confused. "I don’t know."
This year, she had moved up a grade, and her classroom was now on the second floor. Carrying the backpack in one hand and holding Xiaobao’s hand with the other, Sanbao found the classroom and began to chat cordially with the homeroom teacher. This same teacher had taught Sanbao back in the day. Now, mentioning this connection gave the teacher immense pride and honor.
After the pleasantries, Sanbao handed Xiaobao over to the teacher. "Teacher, I’ll leave my little sister in your care."
The teacher smiled warmly. "It’s no trouble at all. Xiaobao is a very well-behaved child."
Sanbao waved. "Alright, your sister is leaving now. Be good at school, okay? Goodbye!"
Xiaobao waved back, "Goodbye, sister!"
During the first class of the new semester, the teacher held elections for class officers. Unexpectedly, Xiaobao was elected class president, leaving her completely baffled. In her mind, the position of class president was reserved for students with excellent grades, and hers were anything but!
After class, Xiaobao scurried to the teacher’s office and bluntly said she couldn’t be a good class president.
Xiaobao’s grades may not have been the best, but her social skills far surpassed those of her peers, likely because her life experiences and perspective were so different from other children’s.
The teacher smiled. "Not at all. I think you’re an excellent choice. If your classmates believe in you, that means you can do it. You don’t have to lead with your grades to be class president. You just have to be outstanding."
When school let out for lunch, Xiaobao went to the after-school care center to eat. She then called Lin Feng to tell him about being elected class president. Lin Feng encouraged his daughter, essentially echoing the teacher’s sentiment: she was an outstanding girl, and grades didn’t mean everything.
Xiaobao was greatly inspired. "Dad, I will definitely study hard."
Lin Feng was momentarily stunned. Then he laughed. "Alright. Let’s work hard."
After he hung up, Zhang Yuxi propped her chin on her hand and chuckled. "Xiaobao became class president?"
Lin Feng laughed along. "Yeah, and now she says she’s going to study hard!"
Zhang Yuxi nodded. "That’s a good thing." She had realized long ago that her daughter wasn’t exactly cut out for academics. Seeing her put in so much effort for such little reward... well, as a mother, it was quite heartbreaking.
Xiaobao becoming class president was no small matter for the entire family. When she got home from school, family members called one after another to celebrate, overwhelming Xiaobao with praise until she didn’t know which way was up. The phrase she heard most often was: "Since you’re the class president now, you have to lead by example and study hard!"
Lin Feng was busy in the kitchen whipping up a feast, while Zhang Yuxi joined in to help. Er Bao and Sanbao surrounded Xiaobao, showering her with endless compliments.
Seeing this, Zhang Yuxi sighed and mumbled, "It’s just becoming a class president. Do they really need to act like it’s a cause for universal celebration?"
Lin Feng laughed. "This is all to encourage Xiaobao, isn’t it?"
The effect of being class president really was significant. Xiaobao took the initiative in her studies and became more proactive about going to school. Because she was the class president, she had to be a step ahead of her classmates in everything.
"Did you check your homework?" Sanbao asked.
"Checked."
"Then check it again."
Xiaobao understood immediately. This meant she had made a mistake.
One week later, in the unit test, she scored 98 in Language and 99 in Math. This gave Xiaobao a huge boost of confidence. I refuse to believe studying is this hard!
