My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 663 Little Treasure is Really Brave
The premise of this variety show was simple: have dads who rarely looked after their children spend a few days with them. The goal was to watch the parent-child interactions and the dads’ hilarious and awkward blunders. At the same time, it was hoped that the busy dads would come to appreciate the challenges mothers face.
Of course, Lin Feng was an exception. Throughout their lives, he was the one who had spent the most time with the children.
Thanks to the first season’s sky-high ratings, the dads and adorable tots had contributed plenty of laughs. And for this season, they brought in Lin Feng!
As the most popular father-daughter duo, they drew the straw hut, were given a small coal stove, and were assigned the task of bathing pigs. The producers assumed that as a father facing these specific, novel challenges, he was sure to create many highlights for the show. They never expected to encounter Lin Feng, a dad who was capable of anything.
The show got its highlights, of course. After all, watching a low-key tycoon perform such menial tasks was a highlight in itself. The problem was, he was so capable that he made the other dads look incompetent by comparison. This was unlike the first season, where the dads’ skill levels were more or less the same; none of them were particularly outstanding.
But Lin Feng was just too good. In comparison, the other dads seemed completely inept and, frankly, a bit high-maintenance next to the low-key tycoon.
Xi Mi’s dad and Xing Yun’s dad were faring better. One of them had recently become a stay-at-home dad, so he was adept at many household chores and took care of his child well. Xing Yun’s dad was not in the entertainment industry, and he was the one who looked after his daughter most of the time.
This was in stark contrast to Jiao Jiao’s dad, who was away from home all year round and even cried during his solo interview.
"Filming dramas isn’t easy, and being a director is hard...
"My wife is usually the one looking after Jiao Jiao at home, so she’s become distant with me...
"I want to use this opportunity to make it up to Jiao Jiao."
Li Kaixin’s dad told a similar story. He was away from home for long periods, so his wife handled all of their son’s education and daily life. The difference between them and Lin Feng was night and day.
Lin Feng finished his tasks and went home to stew a chicken.
Xiao Bao came to Xi Mi’s place, where their task was to herd sheep at a designated location for half an hour. With three sheep each going their own way, Xi Mi and his father were extremely busy. Xiao Bao found a bamboo stick and started helping, making sure the sheep didn’t stray into the neighboring fields.
Xi Mi’s dad asked, "Did you finish bathing the pigs?"
Xiao Bao nodded. "Yes, my dad went back to cook dinner just now."
Xi Mi glanced at the time. It was about five o’clock, with twenty minutes to go.
From a nearby slope, Xing Yun’s dad’s voice could be heard as he herded ducks, faintly accompanied by Xing Yun’s own quacking. Their task was to herd the ducks back to their pen. Herding over a dozen ducks was difficult at first; it would have been much easier with their owner’s help. In reality, the ducks had long since known the way home on their own. They were only disobedient because the father and daughter were strangers to them.
Xing Yun’s dad shouted from the hillside, "We’re heading back! Keep it up, you guys!"
Xi Mi’s dad responded, "Okay, we’re almost done here too."
Glancing at the time, Xi Mi’s dad laughed. "Alright, let’s take the lambs home."
The lambs were temperamental and not very cooperative, making the task quite strenuous. Xiao Bao glanced around and spotted a hemp rope in a patch of dry grass. While everyone else looked on, perplexed, Xiao Bao acted with surprising boldness and walked right up to the lead lamb. She coaxed it, then tied the rope around its neck.
Then, she began to lead the lamb forward by the rope.
The lamb was reluctant at first, so Xiao Bao pulled a handful of grass from the roadside. "Here, have some of this."
As if it understood, the lamb let itself be coaxed along, munching on the grass as it walked.
Xi Mi watched with wide eyes, full of admiration. "Xiao Bao, you’re so amazing!"
Xi Mi’s dad also couldn’t stop praising how capable Xiao Bao was.
"It was easy," Xiao Bao said, looking slightly surprised by the praise. "It’s nothing amazing."
Her academic performance wasn’t stellar, but thanks to her older siblings’ guidance, she had developed a wide range of interests. Despite only being in the first grade, she had already read many books. To Xiao Bao, a task like this was truly nothing special.
With the task of herding the lambs home smoothly completed, Xiao Bao happily dashed back to her own house for dinner.
Meanwhile, the other dads were either just starting their tasks or struggling to cook. Back at their hut, Lin Feng and Xiao Bao were already eating. The food looked and smelled absolutely delicious.
"I stewed a whole chicken today, and there’s still plenty left in the pot," Lin Feng said. "How about you take some over to the other children in a little while?"
Xiao Bao obediently nodded. "Okay!"
After they finished their meal, the father-daughter pair brought some of the chicken soup to each of the other children. And whenever Lin Feng saw one of the other dads struggling, he would offer a helping hand...
