My College Teacher is My Children's Mom-Chapter 637 Bullying Daddy?
The kitchen at their current place wouldn’t let Lin Feng cook separate meals for Xiao Bao. While that lodging was affordable and conveniently located near many other actors on various film crews, cheaper places tended to have poor soundproofing. To ensure Xiao Bao could get enough sleep, Lin Feng decided to rent a room in the hotel opposite the film set. Although it was expensive, the key was that it would finally allow him to cook for his daughter. After calling the person in charge of coordination and getting their approval, he immediately booked the room. This arrangement had another advantage: Xiao Bao could sleep in a little longer, as it was now only a ten-minute walk to the set.
When they went to the film set that afternoon, Lin Feng took the opportunity to handle the hotel check-in. There was only one scene to shoot, which wasn’t very challenging for Xiao Bao. They got it right after just three takes. Afterward, Lin Feng decided to take Xiao Bao for a stroll nearby, but they were called back almost as soon as they left. The male lead had a schedule conflict, so they needed to film his scenes for the next day immediately. The father and daughter had no choice but to return.
The male lead was at the peak of his popularity. He had just become a father last year, and his wife was also in the entertainment industry. Lin Feng had even seen some of his movies. As a new father himself, the actor was very gentle with Xiao Bao, giving her a stuffed doll as a gift when they met.
"Thank you!" Xiao Bao said politely.
They started by running lines. It was Xiao Bao’s first time acting opposite the male lead, but she showed no signs of stage fright. Since Xiao Bao had a slight accent, the director agreed to let her dub her own lines in post-production, reasoning that her accent could be a unique feature of her character’s home planet. The male lead was genuinely surprised and praised her delivery.
"You’re really amazing!" he said.
"Thank you!"
Having been on big sets before, Xiao Bao wasn’t the least bit flustered by the famous actor and easily held her own in their scenes together.
The scene they were filming was Eugene’s first meeting with the male lead, whose spaceship had crash-landed on her planet. After this encounter, they wouldn’t meet again for many years. Next was a scene with the female lead, depicting Eugene stranded on another planet. And with that, all of her scenes as Eugene for the first film were complete. The shoot went smoothly. Xiao Bao easily followed the male lead’s emotional cues, making it easy for her to get into character. They nailed it in just two takes! As the lead actor was leaving, he promised Xiao Bao they’d work together again in the sequel.
Xiao Bao waved. "Goodbye!"
「That evening」
While Xiao Bao was doing her homework in the hotel room, the production coordinator stopped by. On the boss’s orders, they were adding more scenes for her.
"Haven’t you heard?" the coordinator asked. "We released some behind-the-scenes footage, and your daughter’s portrayal of Eugene is a huge hit online."
Lin Feng shook his head. "I’ve been busy taking care of my daughter, so I haven’t been following the news."
The coordinator smiled and leaned in conspiratorially. "If this film does well, your daughter is a lock for the role of Eugene going forward. She’ll be irreplaceable."
Lin Feng listened but didn’t take it to heart. Roles like this were developmental. If a child actor grew up and no longer fit the director’s vision, it was common practice to recast them midway through a series.
"Also, there’s even talk of a potential solo movie for Eugene," the coordinator added.
Lin Feng just smiled without commenting.
After seeing the coordinator out, he turned to check Xiao Bao’s homework and felt a headache coming on.
"Xiao Bao," Lin Feng began, "Dad wants to ask you something. Why did you write that 10 minus 5 equals 4?"
Xiao Bao looked puzzled for a moment, then started counting on her fingers. "One, two, three, four, five... It’s five..."
Lin Feng nodded, satisfied. "Okay. Then for this question, ’How many pots of flowers are there?’, why did you only write four?" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Xiao Bao pointed to a picture of an empty flowerpot in the workbook. "Because there’s no flower in this one!"
Lin Feng was struck speechless. There was no flaw in her logic. He pursed his lips. "Well, maybe it’s just a baby seed and hasn’t sprouted yet."
Xiao Bao blinked her big eyes. "Or maybe there was never a seed in it at all."
Lin Feng pursed his lips again. "Alright, your reasoning has convinced me!"
He moved on to the next question. "’How many people went on the pilgrimage in *Journey to the West*?’ Why did you write two?" he asked.
Xiao Bao answered matter-of-factly, "Because Tang Sanzang and Monk Sha are people. Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, and the White Dragon Horse are animals."
Lin Feng was dumbstruck. He gave Xiao Bao a thumbs-up. She wasn’t wrong!
The rest of the homework wasn’t too bad. There were quite a few mistakes in her addition and subtraction, but he couldn’t tell if they were due to miscalculation or simple carelessness.
Finally, he said with a heavy heart, "Xiao Bao, can you try to make your handwriting a little neater? It’s really... ugly."
Her writing was almost illegible.
Xiao Bao blinked and said very seriously, "But I already wrote it very carefully."
Lin Feng didn’t know what else to say. "When your mother sees this, she’s going to tear your workbook up again."
Xiao Bao immediately played her trump card: charm. "Daddy, you’re the best! Xiao Bao loves you the most! Mwah!" she cooed.
Lin Feng shook his head. "When Mom supervises your homework, you manage to write well. But when it’s Dad’s turn, you just start scribbling. What’s that about? Are you bullying me?"
Xiao Bao just snuggled up to him, trying to charm her way out of it. "Daddy, Xiao Bao isn’t bullying you! Xiao Bao loves you the very, very, very most!"
While enjoying the affection, Lin Feng feigned a huff. "Fine. But later, when your mom complains to me, you have to step up and share the blame."
Xiao Bao puffed out her little chest. "Okay! I promise to be brave and take responsibility!"
Next, Lin Feng checked her Chinese character practice. He nearly exploded. Taking a deep breath, he pointed at the page. "Xiao Bao, look at this character for ’mouth’ you wrote. Why did it turn into a circle at the end? Huh? And this character for ’eye’—why does it look like the character for ’moon’? And your ’moon’ character looks like ’eye’!"
Lin Feng was getting genuinely angry now. Ugly handwriting was one thing, but this was just sheer carelessness! Did she think he wouldn’t get mad?
Seeing that her father was truly angry, Xiao Bao quickly grabbed her eraser to make corrections.
Lin Feng crossed his arms. "Xiao Bao, if I see you scribbling like this again, I’m going to spank you!"
Xiao Bao stuck her tongue out and began to write with intense concentration. Lin Feng peeked over her shoulder and saw that she really was trying her best to fix her mistakes, but the writing was still terrible.
He couldn’t help but recall something Zhang Yuxi had once told him. She’d had a classmate who studied incredibly hard, a fact that all the parents, teachers, and students could see. But surprisingly, no matter how much effort he put in, his grades never improved. At first, his teacher thought he was just using the wrong study methods and even gave him special tutoring. But after a while, they all came to the same conclusion: the boy just wasn’t very bright. Zhang Yuxi suspected her own daughter might be the same. She had supervised Xiao Bao’s homework several times and seen how earnestly her daughter wrote, stroke by painful stroke. Yet the harsh truth remained that the resulting characters were always unbelievably ugly. Eventually, Zhang Yuxi had gotten used to it, only asking that Xiao Bao at least try to write neatly.
Lin Feng took Xiao Bao’s corrected workbook. Looking at the big, ugly characters, he sighed.
"Go brush your teeth, take a bath, and get ready for bed."
Seeing her homework was finally approved, Xiao Bao skipped cheerfully to the bathroom. Lin Feng had already drawn her bath.
While he waited, Lin Feng took pictures of the funny math problems and sent them to the family group chat. He even included a short video, asking his other children at the end, "Did you guys ever have homework like this?"
His older children replied in unison.
"I’ve forgotten what homework was even like."
"Xiao Bao’s logic isn’t wrong. Her interpretation makes sense. The questions are just poorly worded."
The second-eldest son, finding it hilarious, posted his little sister’s "underachiever" homework online.
For a moment, the internet didn’t know what to say.
