Chapter 611: Chapter 611: Xiaobao is the Backbone

That morning, when Lin Feng got up, Zhang Yuxi was already up and getting ready. On the bed, Little Bao was fast asleep, her little bottom sticking up in the air.

Lin Feng went to make breakfast while Zhang Yuxi was busy in the dressing room. When he finished and went to wake Little Bao, he saw that Zhang Yuxi was still fussing over her outfits.

"Honey, you look good in anything."

Zhang Yuxi held up a white dress and a floral one for him to see. "Honey, which one do you think looks better?"

Lin Feng pointed at the floral skirt. "That one. It’s fresh and cute."

Zhang Yuxi smiled sweetly. "I’ll listen to you."

Next, Lin Feng went to wake Little Bao. While dressing her, he reminded the little one that it was Children’s Day. Upon hearing this, Little Bao instantly shook off her sleepiness. That’s right, it’s Children’s Day! Hooray!

After changing her into a performance costume, Lin Feng carried her to the breakfast table.

"Honey, are you ready?"

"Coming!"

Just as they were settled, Zhang Yuxi appeared. She was wearing the floral skirt paired with a knitted cardigan, looking elegant yet vibrant. With her hair in a bun, she looked so youthful that no one would have doubted she was a college student. She had a fresh, beautiful aura that made her look absolutely stunning.

Lin Feng hadn’t seen Zhang Yuxi dress this way in a long time. She usually wore formal attire and rarely looked so radiant. He and Little Bao immediately showered her with compliments.

"Mommy, you’re so beautiful, just like a fairy!"

"You look so beautiful today, honey!"

Zhang Yuxi was so flattered she felt a little shy, smiling as she said, "Alright, you two are being silly!"

"We’re not being silly! Mommy really is beautiful!" Little Bao protested.

Lin Feng chimed in, "Exactly! Mommy is super gorgeous!"

After breakfast, the couple took Little Bao to school. Even though their older children were already in college, the couple still attracted a great deal of attention wherever they went. Lin Feng felt a wave of nostalgia, recalling the Four Treasures’ Children’s Day celebrations as if they were just yesterday.

Next up was getting Little Bao’s makeup done in her classroom before heading to the playground for the official performance. Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi were celebrities at the school, and the parents sitting next to them eagerly struck up a conversation.

"Hello, I’m Yang Xingxing’s dad," one of them said.

Lin Feng greeted him back, "Hello." It was obvious the man wanted to get acquainted with him.

As they chatted, the event began. Coincidentally, Little Bao’s class was performing first, so the couple quickly took out their phones to record.

Little Bao was the most eye-catching of all the children—fair-skinned, plump, and utterly adorable. Standing center stage, she danced exceptionally well, and both of her parents swelled with pride.

After her dance, the couple quickly posted the video to their family group chats for their four older children and their spouses to see. The groups immediately flooded with praise.

Lin Dashan: My granddaughter is so cute! She’s the best dancer!

Lin Jiajun: This makes me want a daughter all over again. I want a cute daughter just like her. Sons are just here to collect debts.

Yu Zheng: Little Bao did great! Her dancing was wonderful!

Sun Rou: Awesome!

Lin Rui: This little girl might have a great future in dance! Keep it up!

The Four Treasures also popped up one after another, all praising their little sister.

Little Bao came pattering over and ran into Lin Feng’s arms. She looked up at him and asked, "Daddy, did I dance well?"

Lin Feng cradled her small face. "Little Bao was the best!"

"Mommy, did I dance well?"

Zhang Yuxi’s eyes crinkled as she smiled. "You danced wonderfully!"

Little Bao giggled happily and ran off to play with the other children. For the next hour, the kids played, eventually wandering to the back of the area while the parents watched the shows.

Suddenly, a cry from Little Bao cut through the air, sounding as if she’d been hurt. Lin Feng and Zhang Yuxi turned in unison to see her squatting on the ground, with another child standing before her. Everyone knew that Lin Feng had this daughter late in life, even if he didn’t look middle-aged at all.

The couple exchanged a look as the surrounding parents watched them. They silently agreed to let Little Bao handle this herself to see what she would do. Our delicate Little Bao will probably come crying to us, they thought.

But to their surprise, Little Bao stood up, dusted herself off, and told the boy in front of her, "You have to say you’re sorry. Only then will I forgive you." She added, "I’m really strong, you know. If you don’t, I’ll hit you."

The boy pursed his lips and finally offered a sincere apology. "I’m sorry..."

"It’s okay, I forgive you," Little Bao said cheerfully. "Let’s go play!"

The couple was surprised. They had expected Little Bao to throw a tantrum but never imagined she would be so gracious. They felt a sense of relief and pride. The other parents, meanwhile, looked on thoughtfully. It was obvious that the couple’s approach to raising children was a success; otherwise, their older kids wouldn’t all have become so accomplished.

A little while later, Little Bao came over. "Mommy, I need to pee!"

When Little Bao returned, Lin Feng gently asked about her skirt, which now had a small smudge.

"It’s not dirty!" she declared, completely avoiding the topic of what had just happened.

I guess I don’t really know Little Bao, Lin Feng thought. She’s even more amazing than I imagined.

"Daddy, did you bring me a toy?"

"I did."

Little Bao took the toy and ran off to play again.

She was taller and stronger than other kids her age, so the couple wasn’t worried about her losing out in a real fight. They used to worry that she was too delicate and might have trouble getting along with her classmates. But now, it was clear Little Bao had great social skills. A whole group of children was always revolving around her. Somehow, she had become the center of their group.
