Chapter 9 - Her Trauma

"Shaking? Now you are afraid?" Eryx stood over her, his breath hard and fast. He was angry, but Lunara felt only fear. His words stung like a slap, making her heart race.

Lunara lay on the bed, her body stiff with fear as she stared up at him. She could feel the tension in the air, thick and suffocating. She wanted to say something, anything, to push him away, but the words caught in her throat.

"You've got a lot to say when it's safe. But now, you're just shaking," Eryx mocked, his eyes scanning her trembling form.

Lunara closed her eyes for a moment, gathering her courage. "I'm not afraid of you," she said, but the words were barely above a whisper. She hated how weak they sounded.

Eryx smirked, his eyes flashing with annoyance. "Really?" He leaned his face closer, his shadow falling over her. "Then why are you shaking?" His voice was cold, filled with contempt.

Lunara's chest tightened. She wanted to push him away, to fight back, but his body was too heavy, and it wouldn't even budge. "I'm not afraid of you," she repeated, her voice trembling despite her best effort.

"Really...?" Eryx leaned closer, his lips just an inch away from hers. "Shall we continue?" His breath tickled her lips, sending shivers through her body.

"Move!" Panic surged in her chest. "Get away from me!"

The words hung around the room when the memories came rushing back. She was seventeen again, trapped in a room with his father's friend, that same suffocating weight pressing down on her. His hands, his breath, his words, it was all too familiar. The room closed in on her, and for a moment, Lunara couldn't breathe.

Her hands shook, and she gasped for air, her body trembling uncontrollably. "No... please," she whispered, her voice cracking, the fear she thought she'd buried flooding back to the surface.

Eryx froze, staring at her as fear took over. Her body was shaking too much. This wasn't what he wanted. He just wanted to scare her, not break her.

He quickly moved his body off her, his eyes wide with panic. "Are you okay?" His voice was rough, softer than before.

She didn't answer. Her breaths came in quick, shallow gasps. Her eyes were distant, like she didn't even see him anymore.

"Hey..." He reached for her, his hands trembling. "I didn't mean to... I—I was just... I wasn't going to hurt you."

But she didn't move. She seemed lost, stuck in her own world.

"Look at me," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "Please."

It took a long moment before her eyes finally met his. Fear was still there, but there was something else too...confusion.

"I'm sorry," he muttered, his voice faltering. The words felt weak, but it was all he could offer. He never meant for it to go this far.

Finally, she snapped back. She pushed him away, rushed to the door, and ran out.

As Lunara sprinted down the hallway, she was desperate to escape, her mind spinning with the chaos she'd just endured. The moment she turned a corner, she collided with someone, who had been walking toward the suite.

"Whoa, hey—" Callum caught her by the shoulders, steadying her. His eyes widened when he saw her face. She was pale, her eyes wide with fear, and her breaths shallow. "Are you okay?" His voice was soft but filled with confusion.

Lunara didn't respond. Her panic was obvious, but Callum's brows furrowed as he took in her face. The way she looked was strangely familiar but he couldn't place it. He was about to ask when Lunara quickly jerked away from him, her eyes still wide with terror.

Without a word, she dashed off again, her footsteps echoing in the quiet hallway.

Callum stood frozen for a moment, watching her disappear around the corner. His mind raced, trying to piece together what had just happened. He turned toward the suite, and his eyes widened when he saw his boss standing in front of the door, staring at him with a sharp, intense gaze.

Confused, Callum glanced between Eryx and the woman, who had already vanished from sight.

"Sir..." Callum approached Eryx, still glancing back over his shoulder. "Is she the woman—"

Eryx cut him off, his voice low and commanding. "Get me everything you can find on her." Without waiting for a response, he turned and entered the suite.

Callum followed Eryx inside the suite, clearly aware of the tension that had settled in the air. Eryx had stopped pacing, but his mind was still elsewhere, as though trying to piece together the disarray in his head.

"What's going on?" Callum asked cautiously, unable to ignore the tension any longer.

Eryx paused, then glanced at Callum. "Why are you back here? Did you have something to report?"

Callum hesitated before replying, "Actually, I came back because... your mother asked me to. She said your daughter suddenly came down with a fever and needs your attention."

The mention of his daughter instantly put him on edge. His gaze sharpened, concern flashing across his features. "A fever?" he repeated, his voice tense. "Why wasn't I informed sooner?"

"Little Mila suddenly spiked a high temperature around an hour ago," Callum explained, his tone careful. "She's a bit cranky, and your mother didn't know how to handle her. That's why she asked me to bring you back as soon as possible."

Eryx clenched his jaw, shoving a hand through his hair in frustration. "Why didn't she call me herself?"

Callum hesitated. "You know how she is, sir. She didn't want to sound... desperate."

Eryx let out a sharp breath. His mother was stubborn, but when it came to Mila, she had no choice but to rely on him. And if Mila was sick, he needed to be there.

Without another word, he grabbed his jacket and strode toward the door. "Prepare the car. We're leaving now . Where is she?"

"Your daughter? She is on the way to the hospital. Your family doctor couldn't make it tonight so your mother decided to go straight to the hospital." Callum explained.

Eryx's grip on his jacket tightened. He didn't like the sound of that. Mila rarely got sick, but when she did, it always hit her hard.

"Which hospital?" he demanded, already moving.

"The private one your family usually goes to," Callum replied, matching his pace.

"Let's go." As the door shut behind them, the lingering tension in the air remained.
