My Charity System made me too OP-Chapter 160: Mercenary
"Mercenary? That’s what you want to be?" Selene looked at Leon, clearly surprised by his response.
Leon smirked, shaking his head. "I’m not here to play politics. I’m here to enjoy my time leveling up, grinding, and getting stronger—without getting caught up in your endless guild battles and scheming nonsense."
The masked recruiter from Eclipse Covenant narrowed his eyes. "So you wish to remain independent?"
Leon leaned back, stretching his arms lazily.
"Mercenary sounds like the best path for me, don’t you think?" His golden eyes glinted. "That way, you can come to me whenever you need help, but I won’t be tied down by guild rules or pointless bureaucracy."
{A/N : Don’t get confused by golden eyes, it just mana belonging on Golden Magus legacy, using different legacy mana end up giving you different eye colour , so don’t’ get confused if you guys found him having different colour at different times}
Selene studied him for a moment, then laughed softly. "A free agent, then. Someone who helps when it’s convenient but owes no allegiance. I see... that’s actually quite fitting for you."
Leon grinned. "Glad you get it. So, for now, let’s just say I’m open for certain jobs—like raids, bosses, and other exciting stuff. But don’t expect me to follow orders or fight your wars."
The recruiters exchanged glances. His confidence, his overwhelming strength, and now his refusal to be controlled—it all made him even more unpredictable.
After a brief silence, Selene smirked. "Fine. We’ll see how this plays out, Leon. But just remember... the stronger you become, the more eyes will be on you."
Leon chuckled. "Let them watch. I’ll give them a damn good show."With that, the meeting between Leon and the top guild representatives ended, leaving them with both curiosity and unease about the storm he would inevitably bring.
As the recruiters left, there was a tense silence at the table. Leon leaned back in his chair, stretching lazily, while Roselia sipped her drink, a faint smirk on her lips.
Millim, however, was visibly excited. She clapped her hands together, practically bouncing in her seat. "That was amazing, Leon! You completely flipped the table on them! They thought they could recruit you, and now they’ll be the ones coming to you for help! Hehe, so cool!"
Roman, ever the knight, chuckled. "You’ve just made a name for yourself, Leon. Every major guild on the fifth floor now sees you as a wildcard. Some will want to work with you, but others… might see you as a threat."
Leon smirked, tapping his fingers on the table. "Let them come. If they want to make me their enemy, I’ll just crush them."
Liliana, the more composed of Millim’s two maids, adjusted her glasses and sighed. "You certainly don’t do things halfway, Lord Leon."
Naval giggled. "But isn’t that why we follow him?"
Roselia looked at Leon, watching him enjoy himself. "At least he’s opening up now," she thought.

She remembered the day she first met Leon—he had been like a guarded puppy, wary of everything and everyone. He was always on edge, cautious about every little thing. But as time passed and he kept winning, he started to loosen up, gaining confidence in his abilities.
And now, he carried himself like a man who knew his own strength perfectly."But is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Roselia couldn’t help but wonder. She had watched how effortlessly he handled all those guild recruiters, so carefree, as if none of it truly mattered."

I guess only time will tell," she thought, letting out a soft sigh. No matter what path Leon chose, she would be there for him. What she didn’t realize, however, was that her initial goal of simply supporting and protecting Leon’s kindness had now begun to shift—into a desire to help him in any way possible, no matter what it took.
As they spoke, a shadow loomed over their table.
A new group of figures had entered the inn, their presence suffocating the air with pressure. Unlike the previous recruiters, who carried themselves like politicians and elite warriors, these ones were different. They were killers. The leader, a man dressed in sleek black armor with a golden insignia of a sword piercing an eclipse, took a step forward. His eyes were cold, calculating.
"Leon, was it?" His voice was sharp, edged with restrained hostility. "We didn’t come here to recruit you."
Roselia’s eyes glowed with a crimson light as she shifted slightly, ready to strike. Roman’s grip tightened around his sword. Even Millim’s cheerful energy dulled, her playful expression turning into a smirk of pure excitement.
Leon, however, remained relaxed, tilting his head. "Oh? Then what did you come for?"
The armored man smirked darkly. "A warning."
The air in the inn grew colder. Other adventurers and mercenaries subtly moved away, sensing the shift in tension.
"You’ve drawn too much attention, too quickly. There are those who don’t want a new variable like you messing up their balance." He leaned forward slightly. "Some are willing to talk. Others… will just remove you before you become a real problem."
Leon laughed. "And which are you?"
The man’s eyes gleamed. "That depends. Are you smart enough to step aside… or do we have to make you?"
Silence.
Then—BOOM!
The entire table exploded into splinters as Leon punched straight through it, his fist stopping an inch from the armored man’s chest. The sheer force of the blow sent a shockwave through the room, knocking over chairs and rattling the walls.
Leon’s smile had vanished.
"I don’t take kindly to threats."
The armored man didn’t flinch, but the warriors behind him tensed, hands on their weapons.
A tense moment passed. Then, the man smirked.
"I see." He turned, motioning for his men to back off. "Then let’s see if you survive long enough to still be a problem.
"Without another word, they left.
Leon watched them go before sighing, shaking the dust from his hands. "Looks like things just got interesting."
Roselia chuckled. "They were already interesting, Leon."
Roman smirked. "We’re going to have a lot more enemies now."
Millim, eyes shining, grinned. "Oooooh! This is going to be fun!"
Leon sat back down, motioning for another drink. "Let them come. I could use the entertainment."
