My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 47
Soft, warm lips pressed against mine, and my heart skipped a beat.
Alexander kissed me, his lips demanding, pushing mine until they were red and swollen. His tongue parted my lips, tasting the sweetness of my mouth.
I placed both hands on his shoulders, my fingers brushing the back of his neck, feeling the short, clean-cut hair as I responded with equal passion.
Our breaths tangled together, heavy and ragged in the enclosed space of the car. Alexander’s breath was warm, his large hand sliding down my body, tracing the curve of my waist.
Suddenly, I snapped back to reality, raising a hand to stop him, my voice shaky, “Not now, we’re outside.”
Alexander pulled back with a deep, lingering kiss on my lips before slowly withdrawing. A thin, silver thread seemed to stretch between us, snapping with a soft sound as it broke and fell onto the collars of our clothes, adding another layer of tension to the charged atmosphere in the car.
Taking a deep breath, Alexander started the engine, his long, pale fingers gripping the steering wheel tightly.
As we drove, I glanced out the window, noticing the streets passing by and realizing we weren’t heading toward the hospital.
“Aren’t we going back to the hospital?” I asked, my voice uncertain.
Alexander turned to look at me, offering a faint smile. “We’re going home first. We’ll go to the hospital in the morning.”
“Okay.”
The car pulled into The Crescent Estates and stopped in the driveway.
Alexander unbuckled his seatbelt, loosened his collar, and leaned toward me again, capturing my lips in another kiss. His tongue moved against mine in a slow, tender rhythm, and our breaths mingled in a passionate embrace.
He casually unbuckled my seatbelt and pulled me onto his lap, one hand pressing gently against the back of my head, the other sliding under my skirt.
"Mm... uh..." I gasped, my hands clutching his collar, my cheeks flushed with heat, my breathing shallow, almost erratic.
Alexander’s scorching kisses trailed down to my ear, then kissed my neck and collarbone, pulling at the collar of my shirt. The heat made me shiver, my body aching with desire.
I knew deep down that I couldn’t keep going like this; it would only pull me deeper into this whirlwind.
But I couldn’t resist him. I couldn’t resist the pull of Alexander every time he was this close.
Just as I was lost in the intensity of the moment, there was a knock on the window. “Mr. Hawthorne, why aren’t you coming inside?”
It was Maggie’s voice.
In an instant, both Alexander and I snapped back to reality, our eyes meeting.
Alexander’s voice was hoarse as he replied, “Got it.”
He quickly fixed my clothes, his eyes dark, a burning intensity still flickering in them. “To the room?”
“Mm,” I murmured, my cheeks flushed deeply as I nodded slightly.
Without another word, we silently understood each other and stepped out of the car together.
Maggie looked surprised. “Vivienne’s back?”
“Mm.”
As Maggie watched us enter the living room one after the other, her brow furrowed in confusion. Why had we both gotten out of the driver’s side?
She followed us into the room.
Alexander eagerly pressed me against the door, lowering his head to kiss me. His tongue explored my mouth with fervor, dancing inside as he sucked on my tongue with a touch of arrogance.
Surrounded by his strong, masculine presence, my face flushed deeply. My hands rested on his broad shoulders, my body burning with desire as I closed my eyes, surrendering to him.
Alexander pressed his body against mine, his large hand swiftly removing the dress from my body. He lifted me effortlessly in his arms, striding toward the bed and gently laying me down.
He climbed onto the bed, his knee parting my thighs, and with swift movements, discarded his suit jacket, throwing it carelessly onto the floor. He yanked off his tie, leaning over me, and kissed my ear, nibbling on the lobe until it turned a deep red, glistening with a subtle sheen.
His lips moved to the nape of my neck, trailing slowly down my throat, past my collarbone, and onto my chest...
Propping my upper body up with one arm, he slipped his hand behind me to unhook my bra, tossing it aside before leaning down to kiss me again.
“Mm... be gentle...” I murmured, my thoughts lingering on the baby growing inside me.
Hearing my words, Alexander immediately softened his touch, though his kisses remained relentless and full of longing.
I closed my eyes, my mind a blur, feeling as though I were drifting in an endless sea, rising and falling with the waves.
Shaking with anticipation, I couldn’t help but arch my chest toward him, my hands threading into his hair.
The air in the room was thick with tension.
Clothes lay scattered across the floor, forgotten.
The room was filled with the mingling breaths of a man and a woman, completely lost in each other.
Alexander took my hand and placed it on the belt around his waist, his voice low and husky. “Help me undo this.”
“Mm...”
My mind went blank, and I simply followed my instincts, fumbling with his belt.
Just as the silence of the room deepened, the sound of a phone ringing cut through the moment.
I blinked, my thoughts clearing a bit, and I pushed Alexander off me. “Your phone...”
In a low, gravelly voice, he murmured, “Don’t worry about it. Continue.”
The phone rang for a few moments before stopping on its own.
But just two seconds later, it rang again.
Alexander’s expression shifted, his brow furrowing as he rolled off me. He grabbed his suit jacket from the floor, pulled out his phone, and glanced at the screen before answering the call. “Hello?”
I couldn’t hear the conversation on the other end, but his expression grew more serious.
“Okay, I understand. I’ll be there right away.” He quickly straightened his clothes, put on his jacket, and turned to me. “I have to step out for a while.”
“What’s going on?” I asked, covering myself with the blanket and propping myself up on one arm.
"Do you really need to go out at this hour?"
Alexander paused, adjusting his clothes.
"Is it Isabella? Has something happened to her?"
Seeing him stay silent, the passion in my eyes faded, replaced by a cold emptiness.
"Isabella’s gone missing."
"Gone missing? Then you should call the police. Going there now won’t help, will it?"
Or was it that Isabella was just waiting for him to come to her rescue?
"Isabella’s condition is unstable. It’s dangerous for her to be alone. She’s a public figure, and calling the police would cause complications for her. I’ll find her as soon as I can. I promise, once I do, I’ll come back."
Looking at Alexander’s determined expression, a sharp pain pierced my chest.
This was what they called ‘caring too much.’
This was probably just Isabella’s excuse to get him to come to her—something I saw clearly, but Alexander didn’t.
To him, even the slightest harm to Isabella couldn’t be allowed.
He wouldn’t return.
I understood that. Deep down, I knew that once he left, he wouldn’t come back.
"What if I don’t want you to go?" I bit my lip, forcing myself to speak.
"Vivienne, don’t be unreasonable."
"Don’t you remember the promise you made to Pop-Pop?" I held my breath, trying to fight for one last chance.
He was so concerned about Isabella, rushing to her side whenever she was in trouble—what did that mean for his promise to be with me?
What did it mean for me to have a husband who could be called away by another woman at any moment?
"I only promised Pop-Pop to treat you well, not to make any vows. And right now, this is a life-or-death situation. With everything going on, you still want to argue? Don’t you have any empathy?"
Alexander’s face darkened, and his impatience was clear. With a swift motion, he turned and walked out of the room.
The door slammed shut behind him.
I collapsed back onto the bed, my body weak.
So cold.
It felt like the temperature had dropped. Even under the covers, I couldn’t shake the chill, my body trembling. I buried my face in the blanket.
He had said, "Vivienne, don’t be unreasonable."
He had said, "I only promised Pop-Pop to treat you well, not to make any vows."
He had said, "Don’t you have any empathy?"
Each of his words pierced my heart like a sword, leaving a gaping wound, my heart bleeding.
I had used every ounce of my courage, only to hear those words.
It turned out I had been hoping for too much.
The peace of the past few days had lulled me into lowering my guard, almost making me forget about Isabella—forgetting about the chasm between me and Alexander.
With Isabella Blackwood in the picture, even if Alexander and I didn’t divorce, our lives would never be peaceful.
I shouldn’t have craved that warmth. I should have known better. Why did I keep forgetting?
I curled into a ball, lying on the bed, my heart frozen.
With my eyes closed, I tossed and turned, the ticking of the clock echoing in the silence. I didn’t know how long I lay there, unable to sleep.
I wasn’t sure when I finally drifted into sleep.
The next morning, I woke up to find the bed empty.
The sheets beside me were smooth and untouched, a clear sign no one had been there.
I glanced at the clock on the wall—it was already past nine.
I got up, gathered myself, and headed downstairs.
"Miss Vivienne, you’re awake. I’ll go prepare breakfast for you."
"Has Alexander come back?" I asked softly.
"No, Mr. Hawthorne hasn’t returned," Maggie sighed, shaking her head.
"I see," I replied.
A heaviness settled in my chest. I sat down on the sofa and glanced at my phone. No new messages.
After breakfast, close to 10 AM, I had James drive me to the hospital.
James parked the car downstairs at the hospital. As I got out and headed upstairs, I casually glanced to the side and noticed a familiar license plate.
At first, I thought I must have seen it wrong, but when I looked again, I realized I hadn’t.
It was Alexander’s car.
Hadn’t Alexander gone to see Isabella? Why was his car here at the hospital?
I continued upstairs, but before I could reach the ward, I heard a familiar voice from inside, "Pop-Pop and Nana, I remember the last time we met, Pop-Pop asked me if I liked eating king crab. So many years have passed, but Pop-Pop is blessed, and I’m sure he’ll get better."
It was Isabella’s voice.
I suddenly felt as though I had fallen into an icy pit, my whole body frozen in place, unsure of what to do next.
