Chapter 277: Who Will Be The New CEO?

(Karsten)

Caysir sent me a bunch of messages. One rocked my world in the best possible way while the other just left a bad taste in my mouth as if I had eaten something dead.

The first one informed me that Arata had visited a doctor and had come out satisfied. Our baby was fine and growing.

Caysir sent me a picture with the second message.

"This man visited Miss Arata’s home and left, not looking very pleased. He came with Mr Kincaid."

Opening the picture I noticed it was Arata’s ex-fiancé. Instantly, my mood soured, and my teeth clenched.

The old man seemed to be trying to ignite old flames for Arata, to push me to the side.

It won’t happen; no one was taking my girl away.

I had been called back to Sparia but after finishing my business there, I was flying to Angel City to see my Phoenix and stake my claim.

Valentine’s Day was approaching and it was a perfect excuse to go see her—if she would see me. At least I would drive the competition away.

Typing hurriedly, I sent the text to Caysir.

{He comes by again. Instantly, let me know.}

"Master, everything is ready," Asbela told me, handing my bag to Olphi.

"Thanks, Asbela. Take care of the house in my absence. Remember to keep everything in Arata’s room as she has left it."

She diligently nodded.

I left the house with Olphi to head to the airport. Everything related to Arata, I had stored up in boxes and placed them in a special closet so only I had access.

Her hair.

Her dress.

Her necklace.

The wristwatch she had given me, rested on my wrist and was constantly giving off quotes related to anger.

I wasn’t only angered, I was pissed.

That damn Andy, trying to win my woman over again. He needed to be taught his place.

We arrived at the airport and soon were headed towards Sparia in my private jet.

Elders had asked for a meeting and I knew they wanted an update on Arata.

They were also keen to know how I was going to conduct business in Sparia while remaining CEO. Soon I was going to need to make tough decisions.

I stared out at the floating clouds and my mind was stuck on Arata.

Taking out her picture on my phone I stared at her smiling face.

Will I ever see her smile like that again?

The thought of not being able to just plainly terrified me.

We touched down and headed towards Ma’s home.

The air was turgid with the scent of spring. So many flowers had bloomed. Their colours calmed my agitated nerves. They reminded me of my girl.

Ma and Rahsir were waiting for me. With a glum expression, she stood tall never wavering in any situation.

As I stepped out of the car, she hugged me tight and I felt her tremble.

"How was Arata?" She asked in concern.

I sighed, "Heartbroken and bruised when she left for Angel City."

"I wish I could do something."

She let me go so I could meet Rahsir.

He seemed serious, more mature, not the boy he used to be a few months ago. He was fitting into his role now.

"I have placed the two gifts you sent, right where they belonged," he cryptically said, referring to Ranold and Urisa.

"Appreciated. I will pay them a visit soon." I took a deep whiff of different flowering scents blooming in Ma’s garden.

Blue roses were in abundance like a symbol of hope for me...

Watching them in awe, I walked inside the cosy home.

Once we had settled and tea had been served I said.

"I have news, I want to share."

Ma and Rahsir, both turned their attention to me.

"Arata is pregnant with my child," I revealed, knowing they deserved to know and Roshra had promised she wouldn’t tell as it was my news to share.

Ma’s hands flew to her widened mouth, while Rahsir raised his right brow and seemed mildly surprised.

"What? I am going to become a Grandma?" She almost screamed in jubilation and I gave her a hearty and rare smile.

"Oh! Karsten. You have made me so happy. I never thought I would see the day." She side-hugged me, leaning on my shoulder, and I just held her close, letting her have this moment.

"Congratulations, brother. I hope both of you can be reunited," Rahsir offered and I gave him an appreciative nod.

"I can’t wait to bring her home and see my grandchild," Ma overenthusiastically declared.

"Yeah! About that. I don’t think she is ready to see me again, yet. She is traumatised and my actions have caused irreparable damage."

"Keep trying, Karsten; you can’t give up," Ma encouraged me, and I nodded at her.

After having lunch, Rahsir and I went to meet the elders.

Quickly, they brought me up to detail. A local gang was smuggling in drugs and they wanted a clean sweep of them. A few members had been caught and it was mandatory to show who the real boss was.

"I will deal with them," I assured the elders and they continued.

"Where is your Queen? You are unable to bring her?"

I breathed out and placed my hand on the armrest of my throne.

"She is recovering from the injuries and is pregnant. So it’s safer for her to stay with her family while I figure things out." I wasn’t sure how much I could stall them, but for now, I had to.

"All right, but she should be by your side as soon as possible."

"She will be," I tried to assuage them but it was more of a self-assurance.

"Lastly, we want you to quit your role as CEO of your company and be present in Sparia at all times. It’s not going to work if we have to call you here for every task."

This is what I had been fearing and preparing myself for. I had worked tirelessly for that company; it was my sweat and blood, and I couldn’t just give it away to someone else.

But I think I had the right person in mind and all I had to do was speak with the board of directors.

"It will be done soon."

The meeting was dismissed after that, and the elders left; only Rahsir remained.

"You will be giving up your company?" He asked, seeming slightly shocked.

And I turned to face him. My fingers drummed the armrest in this large hall.

"No, I am going to nominate you as the CEO in my place. So there is much to learn for you in the next few days. Buckle up, little brother." I offered a teasing smile and watched his expressions change.

From surprise to excitement and then of pure joy. "You mean that?"

"Hmm! Don’t trust anyone else. So are you in?" I asked.

"Hell! Yeah." I got up and he enthusiastically hugged me.

This part was done too, and the only part left was going to Angel City and winning my girl and her family over, before that asshole Andy tried to steal her away.
