Chapter 264: Goodbye! Alien From Neptune

(Karsten)

Days passed, and every day, I only left that waiting area to torture the hell out of those two monsters who had tried to hurt Arata.

Their bones were broken, hair gone, teeth punched out and now I was overseeing their hands getting burnt by a blow torch.

Their blood-curdling screams brought me nothing but satisfaction. I had planned to send them to Sparia after this. They would be thrown in our personal dungeon and spend the rest of their miserable days—rotting and forgotten.

The ringing of my cell phone interrupted me. Taking it out, I saw it was Hades.

Today, I had left him with Caysir; he wanted to take turns guarding his Queen.

"Hello!" I placed my phone on my ear.

"Sir, our Queen is returning to Angel City. Do you want me to stop them?"

The air seemed to have been punched out of my lungs. She had been discharged and that too quietly?

This was her father’s doing; he wanted her as far away from me as Neptune was from Earth. She named me, Alien from Neptune for a reason.

"No, I will be there. Don’t interrupt them or cause any scene. Just follow them and keep me updated." I ended the call and called Olphi.

"We need to go." He nodded and led the way. We hurried away in the car. I knew they had emptied out her apartment earlier but some of her stuff was back at my villa. Despite everything, I couldn’t bring myself to return it.

Maybe one day she will come to claim it or, even better, stay with me again.

A man could dream too, right? It wasn’t only mandatory for girls.

Hades called again. "They are at the airport, you need to hurry up."

The urge to fly and reach her gripped my body and my hands tightened. "I am coming."

Turning to Olphi, I said. "Hurry, we don’t have much time." He needn’t be told twice.

The world outside became a blur as I agitatedly watched and Olphi drove the car like it was a fighter jet.

As soon as we parked in the parking area, I zoomed out and ran towards the VIP section.

Passing security, I needed to buy a ticket to get access but seeing me so desperate, they let me pass quickly.

In the distance, I saw her father’s jet. I sped up and my eyes landed on her. She was just about to climb the stairs while her friend held her shoulders.

"Arata!!!" I called as loudly as I could. She turned and went completely still, seeing me sprinting towards her.

Her father and brother were on the jet’s boarding stairs. They paused too. Zyair’s eyes narrowed on me with a combination of hatred and disgust.

I came to a halt right in front of her and breathed out. She faintly smiled as if expecting me to make it.

Her face carried bruises and I knew some of them would leave permanent scars. The rage returned and I wanted to give another session to that duo in my warehouse.

"You are leaving without saying goodbye," I gently asked and she turned to her friend.

"Give me a few moments." Stella squeezed her shoulders before walking away.

"Arata, we should be leaving." Her father called out from the front, about to take steps downwards to come grab her.

But her brother held him back.

"Let’s settle in, Dad. Arata will join us soon."

I fucking respected her brother. The boy was wise beyond age. If the situation hadn’t been so messed up, I knew we would have gotten along really well.

He forcefully took his father inside the jet. The man kept his hatred-filled gaze fixed on me until he disappeared inside the jet. I knew he would be watching me from the plane window.

Arata closed her eyes, took a deep breath and then faced me.

"You shouldn’t have come, Karsten. It’s not easy for me, and now seeing you makes it even more difficult."

A wounded smile remained on her lips as she tried to keep the tears away.

"Don’t go, Phoenix. Please!" My heart pained so excruciatingly that I could sense nothing else. It was difficult to even breathe with how the emotions pressed down on my chest.

Never knew love would destroy me like that.

She fiddled with her gloved hands, which hid away the injuries on them.

"I have to. At least for a while, I don’t want to be in this city."

I wanted to take a step and hold her in my arms, press her into my chest and say that everything would be fine. That we would be fine but that was going to be a lie.

My life was anything but fine now.

"When will we see each other again?" I desperately asked. I knew I appeared so pathetic, so clingy, so needy to her but I didn’t care.

"Honestly... I don’t know," she said with a sigh, stealing her gaze and boring it into the ground.

Her words punctured a hole in my heart and I bled right there on the tarmac.

"Don’t cut me off from your life, Arata. I won’t survive this. At least tell me I can see my child. You won’t keep him from me. Will you?"

She extended her hands and grabbed mine in hers, softly squeezing. My heart lurched at her action as our gazes met under the stormy sky of January.

"I will never keep you from your baby Karsten. Come see him when he is born but for now, just let me go. Please," she requested with a heaviness in her voice.

I pulled her into myself, letting our bodies collide. My arms wrapped around her back and she rested her face on my chest.

We didn’t care who was watching but just held on to each other. Placing my lips on the top of her head I took in her scent, storing it away.

A long goodbye kiss I gave my Blue Rose. She was mine, but for now, I would respect her wishes.

"Okay, but I will come for you. And my guards will stay outside your house. That will not even be a debate," I whispered and she just nodded.

"Goodbye! Alien from Neptune," she tearfully said and peeled herself away from me. Wiping away the tears she ran the rest of the way towards the jet while I watched her like a defeated man.

My phoenix was flying away from me...and there was nothing I could do.
