Chapter 241: The Boy With Blue Eyes

(Zyair)

"What do you mean he is missing?" I fired at the police officer on the phone. "We met him yesterday morning. How did he disappear?"

My anger knew no bounds. I was shaking while restlessly pacing my room.

We had been waiting for the police to apprehend Karsten and rescue my daughter.

The detective rambled on and on about how the house was empty and they would get him soon.

But, I knew. Deep down I knew we had been played. After ending the call, I instantly dialled the fucker but there was no response. His number was switched off.

I was still rolling in anger and thinking about my next course of action when my phone pinged and my heart instantly drowned.

Another unknown number...

It had to be that fucker, Karsten, sending me another video or picture.

My hands trembled, and my eyes watered as I clicked on the message to open it.

This time it was a picture of my precious girl but I hardly recognised her.

The emotions, pain and rage all detonated in my head as I stared from her almost shaved head to her bloodied face.

What kind of sicko would do that to my beautiful daughter?

This is exactly what I had feared, that one day my children would go through the same fate that we had done.

That was my personal apocalypse and I had been dumped right into it.

My watery eyes read the text message below.

{Confess your sins by holding a press conference tomorrow. Confess how you killed Doran Blackthorn and buried him in an unknown grave. Or next will be your daughter’s body parts.}

The very thought sent shivers through me as tears dropped from my eyes.

I had to squeeze them shut and take long breaths to gain the slipping control back.

I needed to think, think clearly.

Doran Blackthorn???

The name rang in my brain and left a horrible taste in my mouth. I had never detested someone more than that wretched man, and to this day, I have no regrets about ending his life.

But, why did someone want me to confess that?

No one even knew we killed him apart from four people.

Skyla, Amsilia, Kail and me.

Why would Karsten care about Doran?

Could it be that Karsten was being framed?

He did mention that the stalker was potentially a hacker too. That made it easier to paint lies as truths.

What if he was sending us down the wrong path?

From what I had gathered so far about Karsten, there were no criminal charges against him.

But all fingers pointed towards Karsten, he was the last person to see her.

He wore a mask and shot trendy, sexual videos for the netizens.

Yeah! I checked out his channel.

But there were no shady comments. People seemed to love him.

A controversial figure always had mixed comments, but on his channel, all of them were positive. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Although he did mention a Phoenix in a couple of his last videos, I wondered if he was referring to Arata?

My mind was so jumbled up and I had no clue what to think.

I needed a break; I needed to speak to my light, my love, and my wife.

She could give me clarity.

Closing the message, I hit the dial for Skyla’s number.

I just needed to hear her voice or I was going to lose my mind.

"Zy!" She softly said as the call connected.

"Hey! Sorry I don’t have any good news," I whispered back, battling tears. How would I even tell her what I had just received?

She could never see that picture or video of Arata.

"We won’t give up. You can’t give up until we find her. I believe in you to bring her home."

So much hope, so much trust she had in me...

I wanted to break down...I couldn’t break down.

"I will bring her home." I continued to tell her the demand her stalker had made.

She went completely silent when I said the name Doran. That was such a sensitive topic for her and it had been so many years since we even said his name.

"The only person who cared about him was Karen. She is still alive and freely living her life. She could be behind this Zy. You have to find her. Don’t trust the system, who let her go so easily."

Skyla had a point. We had discovered quite late that her sentence was shortened without us getting informed and by the time we tried to follow up on her, she had disappeared.

Her whereabouts were kept confidential from us, she had alleged that she felt threatened by us. Playing the victim when all she did was cause chaos in our lives.

But Skyla had a point. Karen could very well be behind this.

Could she have clouded with Karsten?

The answer was certainly on the tip of my tongue but I just couldn’t grasp it.

"I will do that Sky. How is mom?"

"She doesn’t know, but she asks me why I seem worried, and I keep lying to her. I don’t know how long I can pretend, please find our daughter soon," her voice cracked and hit me in my heart.

"I promise, I will."

"I love you, Zy. Do take care of yourself," she sniffled into the phone and I knew she was crying.

"I love you too." I ended the call and let out a frustrated breath of air.

I needed to dig deep, the answer was around Karsten. Either he was involved or someone close to him was using him or implicating him.

Such a move can’t be pulled until it’s you or have a mole in your midst.

With these thoughts, I searched Arsten Empire; Karsten’s company. I needed to see who were the people working close to Karsten.

Karen might have been an employee under him. It wouldn’t be the first time she would use her dubious ways to creep into someone’s life.

Opening the recent pictures, I stared at all the high-level staff working under Karsten. The picture had been taken at the start of this year at some company event.

To my disappointment, I didn’t find Karen, but a certain boy with blonde hair and eyes, the replica of Doran’s, staring back at me.

Who was he?
