My CEO Boss Is A Masked Internet Sensation-Chapter 10: The Golden Rules
Chapter 10: The Golden Rules
(Arata)
Karsten nudged his head slightly up as if understanding my silent question, but his curious eyes remained focused on me. I pulled his collar up, placed the thick blue satin ribbon around his thick neck and began to tie a full Windsor knot.
The silence around us should have been discomforting but it wasn't.
Detaching myself from every feeling around me I focused on the task with utmost seriousness. My fingers moved with deliberate precision as I crafted the Windsor knot— classic and elegant. I folded the wide end over the narrow one, guiding it up and through the loop with practised ease. My baba had taught me all the knots and I had done them a thousand times for him and Andy. Not that Andy deserved it but I wasn't going to let him control my life anymore.
The tie slid smoothly under my touch, the fabric whispering softly with every movement.
"Almost done," I said, keeping my voice steady despite the slight flutter that kept humming in my chest. He chose to silently observe, his face still stoic and emotionless as I stole a glance.
Bringing the tie's wide end down through the final loop, I tugged it down gently to perfect the shape. The knot sat proudly against the smooth blue fabric, its deep shade looked majestic on him.
Tying his collar button with my shaking hands around his neck, where a few veins stood prominent, I adjusted the collar and smoothed it down. His huge frame had obscured everything else and all I could see were the bulging muscles of his shapely arms and chest.
He might be a cocky boss but he was pleasant to the eye.
I promised myself to show Andy that I could be desired by someone better than him. Someone who won't know my last name. Who wouldn't know that my father owned the largest clothing brand in Angel City? Could I take a chance with Karsten? But will a man like him want a curvy woman? Seeing the women he had hired so far, it didn't seem like that.
"Done." I quickly took a quick step back from him and breathed in. His scent had been messing with my thinking process.
Karsten prowled away towards the full body-length mirror, he had installed in his office. His waist trim and generous hips were a sight every woman would want to openly ogle at.

'Stop staring,' I chided myself again.
He glanced at himself, and his hands reached out for the knot, adjusting it again, not that it needed to be. He asked in that deep voice which was heavily laced with accent.
"Who taught you, Windsor?"
"My father," I answered with a hint of pride creeping into my voice and I saw a subtle surprise appear on his face through the mirror. It disappeared as soon as he saw me staring. Without a single word of praise, he commanded next.
"Bring me my coat."
'Bring me my coat,' I annoyedly copied him under my breath. Would it physically hurt his mouth to let out a single word of praise? I knew he was satisfied but he wouldn't show it.
Willing myself to move, I approached his executive chair and grabbed the dark blue coat he had draped on its back. The fabric was most likely cashmere wool blends, smooth and durable.
It was doused in his scent. Picking it up I took it to him and stood behind him. He extended his right arm first so I slipped the coat on it and then the left. He pulled it from the lapels and adjusted it on his powerful, imposing build
Being so tall and with his wide shoulder blades, I appeared puny in front of him.
Using his fingers he combed his hair back so they drifted away from his forehead and rested stylishly on his head. Once satisfied with his look, Karsten finally turned to face me. I took a step further away from him.
"Your terms of contract are on my desk in that blue file." He pointed with his pointer finger. "Read it thoroughly before signing. If you disagree with any term, speak to me when I return from the meeting for the next one you will be attending with me. Remember, once you sign the papers, there will be no turning back. You will be obliged to do as I ask. Compliance is all I ask of you, Miss Arata. If you think you can give it to me, you will have nothing to fear and no one to fear it from. I protect my employees. I hope you won't disappoint like others before you."
With a complete monologue as if he was Macbeth, he strode past me like a gale over open grasslands, rustling the blades of grass. His black loafers made no noise against the polished surface of the floor as if he glided on it instead of walking. Pausing at the door, he said without turning.
"Stay in my office, until I return."
He extracted his phone from his pocket and dialled someone before opening the door and disappearing through it.
My shoulders stooped low as soon as the door closed. Moving over to his desk, I grabbed the file he had left for me. Instead of walking away and taking a seat, I slumped on his executive chair and almost screamed from the relief it brought. It was warm and so comfortable for my butt sunk right in.
"Ah! That's relaxing." I leaned against the back of the chair and revolved it around, taking in the feel. Once I had settled, I opened the file and began to read his terms and my duties. The paper was smooth under my fingertips and had been scented with a pleasant floral smell.
Everything had been meticulously typed and laid out.
The rules were as follows:
(The golden rules to become the perfect secretary.)
Yeah! Not cocky at all.
Rule no.1- Don't say 'No' to Mr Karsten's orders. His word is always final.
Rule no.2- Leave your attitude outside his door; there can be only room for one, and that's his.
Rule no.3- His coffee needs to be freshly brewed daily and served hot.
Rule no.4- Don't be late.
Rule no.5- Always knock before entering his office.
A hollow laugh escaped me, seemed like the big boss had never had the pleasure of hearing no. This excited me, the thought of defying him made a grin appear on my face. I continued to read.
