What Could He Possibly Be Fighting?

'You Shouldn't have said that, you really should not have said that.' Christopher's tone dropped to one of utter coldness. In fact, it was so biting that it left a palpable effect on the world around him.

His authority seeped out, tinged with his sudden coldness, and that had a strong effect on his immediate surroundings.

Azure and Prism who were still trying to figure out why Christopher was suddenly keen on hiding his presence suddenly froze. It wasn't due to fear or because they became too cold to move.

None of that. Instead, it was because when Christopher uttered his words to the Warden, due to his authority seeping out, it affected the reality around his body on a fundamental level.

In this case, what happened was that the temperature around them suddenly ceased.

It wasn't that it became so cold that they were unable to move. Nothing like that. Instead, the concept of temperature simply ceased to exist around them.

At first glance, the consequences of such a thing wouldn't seem too bad. But on a deeper level, such a thing was quite detrimental.

Without temperature, thermal energy became meaningless, as thermal energy which is the microscopic motion of particles, would have no frame of reference. Molecules wouldn't be considered "hot" or "cold". They wouldn't be "moving thermally" at all.

As a result, particle motion ceases entirely. Not due to cold. But because motion from thermal energy is no longer a thing. As such, matter would enter a static, frozen-in-place state. Not from freezing, but from the impossibility of having internal energy.

But this begged the question, it's not too strange to see how this would affect Azuresince she's a being made of ice, but what about Prism? After all, she's more a mirror than a living being. Moreover, she was in her mirror world, so why would this apply to her and freezer body as well?

Well, temperature affects blackboard radiation, but also directly affects refractive indices, material transparency, and so on. Without the concept of temperature, the idea of light scattering, refracting, or behaving normally simply wouldn't apply. In this case, radiation simply... doesn't happen.

As a result, there were no more reflective surfaces for her to take advantage of, which meant there was no mirror world to reside in. As such, she got thrown out the the reflection she was in.

Naturally, it was a lot harder to remove Prism from a reflection simply by stopping light from being a factor, she had a light Affinity after all, and there were still all sorts of intricacies when it came to her mirror and reflection manipulation.

However, Christopher's Authority couldn't care less about any of that. So despite not being the targets of his coldness, Azure and Prism still felt like they were under great threat.

Back near the tapestry of Fate Christopher had created, the Warden sensed the dreadful authority from Christopher's will when it threatened him.

It was such an unnerving thing, to know that someone is near you, yet you can't see them, but they can see you. Christopher's Aura threatened to surround the will of the Warden, yet the Warden still couldn't ascertain his position.

Not that it could do anything even if it did, because it sensed and recognized his authority.

'Y-You are...!' For the first time, its monotone voice had emotion in it.

Christopher meanwhile stopped being so cordial.

He held out his hand and Scarlet appeared in his grasp. Then using his Annihilation Insight, he spotted the place where the will of the Warden was interfering.

Calmly, he infused his Authority into Scarlet as the sword crackled with annihilation energy. Initially, he didn't want to do much, just cut apart the interference.

But after what the Warden said, a familiar scathing anger bubbled up from within the deaths of his very being, and Christopher knew that if he didn't make the Warden regret its words thoroughly, he wouldn't be able to vent properly.

As such, he was determined to make it suffer as much as possible.

As he readied his attack, Prism and Azure trembled... or at least they tried to. They still couldn't move, but their minds were still working, and they felt horrified.

Prism and Azure hadn't seen Christopher snap before, so they had no idea what he was capable of if he lost his temperature, and now they were about to get a glimpse.

In addition to his Authority and Annihilation energy, Christopher made use of pure void energy and thoroughly coated Scarlet in it.

These three things moved together to form a horrifying combination, especially his Authority, and the effects it had on reality were even more astounding as the world around them seemed to unravel under the pressure of whatever Christopher was preparing.

The Warden seemed to sense this horrifying attack and wherever it was, it felt an extreme sense of danger that filled its entire being. Its instincts roared at it to retreat and it tried to do so as it started pulling its will away from the tapestry of fate. But Christopher wasn't gonna let that happen.

With a single hand, Christopher raised Scarlet and swung.

There was no powerful thunderclap or massive shockwave. In fact, the moment he completed the swing, all the energy accumulated on Scarlet vanished as if it wasn't there to begin with.

Prism and Azure were starting to feel confused when...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

A horrific shriek of pure and utter agony rebounded followed by a terrifying quake that went through the entirety of the hidden realm.

Azure felt her body tremble while Prism almost lost consciousness on the spot. The only reason it wasn't worse was because Christopher took the brunt of the damage the scream was meant to cause.

However, in the other parts of the hidden realm, things weren't so simple.

Titus cut down another entity and grimaced. No matter how many of the things he killed, it was like trying to drain the ocean one drop at a time. The artifact Aisha had created made killing the entities possible and also made it difficult for the entities to harm them. But their numbers were so overwhelming that it was very easy for one to lose their will to fight.

Literally, if one stood on the wall of the stronghold, there would be entities for as far as the eye could see. Granted, the blizzard reduced their maximum visibility, and most of what they could see was being illuminated by the fortress, but the point remained.

In fact, it got so bad that even Umbra had to step in and deal with the stronger entities. A region of the battlefield had turned black as he faced off against horrors Titus didn't want to try and comprehend. But even with that, his people were still struggling.

Sure they had an unlimited number of resources and Mana, moreover, the barrier was in the way to stop any Entities from getting too close, and the forces from the vassal clans joined the fray to assist.

They wouldn't get tired either as the help of Eidrasil was consistent, so their bodies constantly got replenished, and whenever an injury happened, it was healed.

But despite all of this, the pressure was still immense.

'When will this end?' Titus thought as he barely avoided a barrage of attacks from several entities.

There was then a roar followed by a flash of blue light. A thick blue beam streaked across the battlefield and turned thousands of entities into ice sculptures, courtesy of Tristan.

Titus was also about to unleash a large-scale attack when the ground suddenly quaked, but before he could make sense of it, Veylthar suddenly vibrated and an incandescent barrier covered him.

Then the scream came.

Titus' eyes widened as the barrier Veylthar erected shattered in an instant and blood suddenly spurted from all his orifices.

He felt his soul shake and he blacked out several times in the span of a second.

'What...?' His thoughts became incredibly slow as his mind felt like it was only the verge of shattering.

He swayed and used his sword to support him and looked up. To his shock, the majority of the entities in the immediate area had fallen dead.

However, Tristan and Raya were on the ground, unconscious. At the same time, the black area where Umbra was fighting suddenly wavered and popped like a bubble, and the black dragon could be seen falling out of the sky.

Titus looked back, and to his relief, the barrier was still intact, but there was an ominous crack that ran across its circumference.

It was only he and the other two as well as Umbra that had been fighting outside since they were the only ones that could endure the pressure of facing entities up close. So it seemed like no one else got hurt like them.

He grunted and made his way to the person closest to him, which was Tristan.

He reached the dragon and leaned against the heavily.

He sent a surge of light into his body and a moment later, Tristan woke up slowly.

"What...?" The dragon groaned, but Titus didn't answer him as he made his way to Raya. The truth was, due to not passing out, he felt the brief fluctuation that came with the scream, and an extremely familiar Aura was within that fluctuation.

'What could Master POSSIBLY be fighting?' Titus gritted his teeth as he tried to ignore his pain to help his teammate.
