Mute Mate: The Alpha's Obsession-Chapter 58: The Alpha’s Wife
Chapter 58: The Alpha’s Wife
There was a brief silence as Zavren’s eyes settled on Ariana’s. She shyly shifted her gaze away—only for his voice to break through the quiet.
"Stop the carriage."
Ariana softly bit her lips, her heart thudding lightly. She quietly wondered where she could pee. They were in a secluded place, surrounded by trees, and even if she managed to find somewhere, how on earth was she supposed to raise her gown? Oh Lord..how was she going to hold up both her gown and her panties?
The carriage came to a stop, the horses letting out a soft sound as it halted. Ariana quickly scribbled:
You don’t have to worry. I can hold it...
"No, you need to," he said, his eyes turning to her with displeasure.
She quietly nodded, her face warming further.
The conversation was getting... ugh. How was she supposed to tell him it was because she wouldn’t be able to hold up both her gown and her—panties?
"Let’s go," Zavren said, and Ariana’s head snapped toward him.
Let’s? Did that mean he wanted to come with her?
She shifted her book and wrote:
Are you coming with me?
"Yes," Zavren replied.
Ariana’s face flushed hard at his words. Oh heavens, why was he coming with her? How would she...?
She nodded slowly. Maybe he just wanted to watch out for her.
’Stop over thinking’
She stood, and Zavren rose as well, following as she stepped outside. One of the men bowed respectfully and shut the carriage door behind them. The quiet, stony path made it slightly hard for Ariana to walk properly. Zavren gently held her shoulders to steady her.
Ariana looked around, searching for a spot she could go. The trees were large enough to offer some cover.
"Let’s go," Zavren said, taking her hand in his.
They began to walk. Ariana glanced up at him—it looked like he had found a place. They followed a path where the stones disappeared, replaced by grass. She realized he had led her to a patch where the grass wasn’t too tall. She looked around, just to make sure they were alone they walked further.
"You don’t have to bother about anything. No one’s here," he said calmly. "And even if someone was... I’m sure a few animals would be getting a special treat."
Ariana raised an eyebrow. It took her a moment, but as the words repeated in her head, realization hit. freēnovelkiss.com
Oh... this man.
Zavren finally stopped. Ariana looked at him as he stared back at her, his cold voice cutting through the soft wind and silence.
"Have you forgotten that you need to pee?"
She quickly shook her head as he pointed to a corner surrounded by trees. Both sides and the back were covered, leaving only the front slightly open. It was surprisingly good coverage.
He really does have an eye, she thought. The way he found this spot so easily—it made her wonder. Was this really his first time too?
She turned back to him.
"Go on and squat. I’ll need to help you with your gown," he said, his expression calm and unreadable.
Her eyes widened. Why is he saying that so casually?! Her heart raced. He’s serious... oh heaven. How was she supposed to bend and pee... with him right there?
"You don’t have to worry, snowflakes," he added smoothly. "If you want, I can simply shut my eyes. Besides, there’s nothing to hide. I’ve—"
His words abruptly trailed off as Ariana stomped her foot hard into the ground, as if that would shut him up—and it worked. He was now staring at her flushed face, and a soft chuckle escaped his lips.
"Go on."
Ariana took a deep breath as she walked toward the spot. Her need to pee was getting serious, and if she stayed any longer, she might start dancing funnily—and that was the last thing she wanted this proud man to see.
She moved quickly. Things would have been easier if she had worn the other gown—the one without so many layers. Finally, she reached the spot and stood, her heart already thudding. Zavren followed as he stood in front of her.
"Go on. Squat," his serious voice echoed through her.
Ariana moved to squat—she needed to get this over with. The longer she stayed there, the more embarrassed she got. She bent slightly, and Zavren lowered himself as well, lifting her gown gently. She didn’t squat fully.
"Remove it, Aria," he said again. His voice held a teasing edge, like he was enjoying this far too much.
Ariana raised her head, shooting him a hard glare.
"I’ll close my eyes," he said, and with a nonchalant expression, shut them.
Ariana raised her head again. To her surprise, his eyes were truly closed. He had lifted her gown just the right way, giving her enough space.
She sighed softly and decided to pee quickly—there was no telling how long this man would actually keep his eyes shut.
She immediately pulled down her panties and then—
PSSSS...
Her face burned with embarrassment.
Zavren’s lips curled into a teasing smirk as his eyes suddenly opened—and landed right on her bottom. He shook his head lightly, a chuckle threatening, before politely shutting his eyes again.
Pssss...
Pss...
Ps...
S...
Ariana’s heart pounded even harder. As soon as she was done, she quickly pulled her panties back up and stood.
Zavren finally opened his eyes, still holding up her gown.
"Move a bit," he said calmly.
Ariana nodded, still refusing to look at him. One thing she hated about peeing was the end part—that awkward pause, followed by another small burst. And she was sure he had heard it.
She moved quickly as Zavren quietly let her gown fall. To his surprise, she began to walk faster—putting more distance between them with each step.
Zavren finally chuckled.
"Oh, Aria," he mumbled to himself, shaking his head slightly as he started toward the carriage.
But then, he stopped. His steps halted, his gaze shifting—his expression suddenly calm and unreadable as he turned, eyes scanning something unseen.
Meanwhile, Ariana had already entered the carriage. She gave a small nod of thanks to the man holding the door, who bowed respectfully.
She sat down, her heart still racing. Had she really walked that fast?
And more importantly... why hadn’t he caught up yet?
Just as those thoughts crossed her mind, Zavren walked gracefully toward the carriage, his expression calm as always.
Ariana immediately turned her face to the other side, pretending to look elsewhere. Zavren stepped in, moving to sit beside her. As she adjusted in her seat, she made sure to hold onto her book and pen tightly, keeping them from slipping off the carriage seat.
She didn’t say a word—her face still warm from earlier.
"Aria," Zavren’s deep voice broke through the silence, low and smooth.
He had noticed the way she was still avoiding his gaze, and his eyes glinted wickedly. A slow smirk tugged at his lips as he leaned slightly closer.
"Do you want to see me pee?" he asked, voice teasing.
Ariana’s eyes widened instantly, her head snapping toward him.
Zavren chuckled quietly—just as he expected, her reaction was priceless. But almost immediately, his expression shifted back to calm, his eyes giving nothing away.
"Maybe if I did that, you’d feel less embarrassed," he added, his tone cool and composed.
Ariana stared at him in disbelief.
She could not believe this man.
Zavren shifted slightly, reaching for the hat. Before Ariana could react, he gently placed it on her head.
"The sun is harsh... you wouldn’t want to get sunburned," he said calmly.
Ariana nodded quietly, her fingers brushing the brim of the hat.
There was a brief silence.
Then, sunlight spilled softly through the carriage window—the trees had thinned, and they had just left the secluded, shaded area behind. The golden rays finally found their way in.
Ariana turned to look at Zavren, a quiet curiosity in her eyes.
How had he known...?
She turned to see the fences—they were almost there. Curiously, she looked ahead.
"This is Lady Emberg’s castle. We’ll be visiting her," Zavren spoke quietly, his eyes shifting until they finally rested on her. Her gaze was fixed on him, as though waiting for further explanation. Zavren’s lips curled up.
"Do you have any questions?" he asked, acting nonchalant.
Ariana nodded, then reached for her pen and calmly opened her book, writing with graceful poise.
Who is Lady Emberg?
Just as Zavren read the words, a grin stretched across his face, making Ariana raise an eyebrow. Her heartbeat skipped.
"You don’t have to be jealous, my wife. Lady Emberg is one of our most trusted allies. She was a friend of my ancestor—definitely one of the oldest lady wolves alive."
’Oldest lady wolf?’
Ariana nodded, then gently pressed her lips together and wrote again:
Asking a question does not mean I am jealous.
Zavren nodded casually as he replied, "Your nose definitely growing does not mean you’re lying."
Ariana’s hand moved, but she quickly remembered she wasn’t going to let him trick her again.
So full of himself, she said to herself.
As she noticed the carriage had stopped, Ariana looked through the window. Her mouth parted slightly in awe.
The estate was breathtaking—grand, intricately designed, and overflowing with vibrant flowers. It was clear the lady of the house had a deep love for blooms. Ariana could already tell that Zavren must hold a strong respect for this woman, and now, she couldn’t wait to meet her.
The door opened as Zavren stepped out. He turned toward her, extending his hand, a slow smirk curling on his lips. Ariana placed her hand in his and stepped out gracefully. He nudged his elbow slightly, and Ariana understood, gently moving her arm into his—holding onto him.
"Oh, what a wonderful surprise! And here I was thinking it was till my death the great Alpha Zavren would be delivering to this old lady," a voice rang out.
Ariana turned her gaze from Zavren to see an old woman approaching. Her snow-white hair cascaded from beneath a pale green hat shielding her from the sun. Despite leaning on a walking stick that screamed wealth and legacy, her posture straightened with grace. She wore a green gown that matched her hat perfectly, and with every step, she radiated elegance and command.
Lined in perfect formation, rows of maids stood with heads bowed, not daring to lift their gaze.
A calm chuckle escaped Zavren’s lips.
"At least that way, you would rest in peace. But who knew your thoughts would be silenced the moment I appeared—with my wife by my side."
The moment the words left his lips, Ariana’s heart fluttered in shock. Wife? She barely had time to process it before the lady’s eyes shifted.
"Your wife...?" she repeated, pausing as her sharp gaze now settled on Ariana, who still held Zavren’s hand.
With a graceful motion, Ariana released one hand to lift the hem of her gown slightly, giving a soft, respectful curtsy.
"I apologize for my rudeness, dear... oh goddess, she is ethereal. Alpha Zavren, you truly have a keen eye," the lady praised, her eyes lingering with curiosity and approval.
Ariana responded with a calm smile, poised and silent.
"Come now, you’ve arrived just in time," the woman added. "My children happened to visit today—as though fate itself told them to. Alpha Zavren, take your wife inside."
Zavren gave a curt nod and began walking with Ariana at his side.
Just as they stepped forward, the lady turned slightly, her voice low but sharp enough to carry on the wind.
"Who would have thought... the great Alpha would end up marrying a human," she said quietly, her voice laced with something between awe and warning.
Then, with a knowing smile, she added,
"As expected of you—to break the one rule that was never meant to be touched."
