Chapter 209: 209 - The Purest Warrior, the Most Feared Creature

The sun shone high in the sky, pouring its light over the vast plain surrounding Milishion.

The city seemed to gleam under the noonday heat, its white, immaculate structures reflecting the light as if fashioned by the hands of a God.

It was an almost divine sight, as if magic ran through every wall of that city. And for some of them, it was true.

But today, the divinity of that landscape would be put to the test.

Rygar thundered ahead of his entire host.

Each of the hundred warriors following him could run faster than a horse; some were even swifter than the fastest sports cars of Rygar’s previous world.

Yet none could compare to his speed. He was like a blur, a thunderbolt of flesh and bone cutting across the plain toward the Divine Barrier protecting the sacred city.

Rygar had brought a hundred warriors with him, but there was one undeniable fact: none of them could breach the city if he did not shatter first the Barrier sealing Milishion.

In terms of pure military power, Rygar was convinced he could take Milishion alone.

Defeating Galgard, the White Knight, and the Magic King simultaneously? Perfectly viable. To him, the Saints of Millis were nothing more than cannon fodder.

Even the knights composing the hundreds of defenders did not represent a worthy obstacle. If it were a straight fight to the death, he would win.

But an invasion was not that simple. Three variables still made Millis dangerous to him:

The first was the coordinated use of multiple mages and priests to cast high-level spells.

Even Rygar, powerful as he was, could not ignore an Emperor or God–level magic. Such assaults could injure him, perhaps even kill him.

The second variable was the various containment barriers. Barriers that blocked escape, magic, senses... there was every kind of defensive magical mechanism.

If a God‑Level Barrier that blocked magic were used, he would be forced to fight only with his strength and swordsmanship techniques.

Still, he was almost certain Milis would not deploy that this time, for many of their strategies depended on large‑scale magics.

The third variable was magical items and tools—both the Seven Magic Towers and the Magic Items equipping their warriors. An artifact with the right effect could pose a threat even to him.

That was why bringing companions who could eliminate these threats and open space for him would be far more effective, allowing him to focus only on the strongest.

After all, Rygar had survived until now trusting his instincts. And now, as he approached Milishion, he felt a real sense of danger for the first time in a long while.

He wielded Tsukikage; his blade crackled with lightning. Energy coursed through the metal, sharpening it, accumulating mana to an insane level.

As he crossed the plain, it was as if a living lightning bolt ran across the world. Each of his steps left fissures in the ground, trails marked by the unbridled nature of electricity.

The Barrier lay just ahead. Invisible, yet clearly perceptible to those with keen senses.

A magical dome conjured by the Magic Towers to seal the city. Just behind it, a bridge guarded by two sentinels. They raised their blades in a symbolic gesture of resistance, but they knew... they were doomed.

Rygar clenched his muscles and fortified himself with Touki. Then he activated Wild Dash, the signature technique of the Beast God Style.

The world around him fell silent as he broke the sound barrier. The movement was so violent it left a veil of destruction in its wake.

And then, he collided with the Barrier.

In an instant, a blue flash filled the entire field. For a moment, it was brighter than the sun. Lightning streaked across the magical dome of Milishion, slashing the air like serpents of light. And then came the impact.

The two guards barely had time to strike with their blades. The lightning’s force reduced them to ashes. The bridge exploded at the epicenter of destruction, and the magic dome shattered like glass.

Tsukikage’s cut pierced the Barrier, but it was the Chain Lightning that destroyed it completely.

Windows in Milishion shattered in every direction.

Civilians hidden in underground shelters were deafened by the electromagnetic wave that traveled through metal, posts, armor, and everything conductive.

It was a mystical scene, even for a world where magic was commonplace.

Lightning Gash was the spell that converted lightning to enhance the blade’s cutting power. It also had a shocking effect that ignored Touki’s defenses.

But now, elevated to God level to breach a high‑tier magical barrier, it seemed something else entirely. A miracle of destruction.

And Rygar did not stop. Even after the impact, he strode through the Barrier’s remnants as if nothing had happened. Like a blazing comet, he entered the city of Milishion.

---

Moments before the impact, three men stood on the balcony of the White Palace. Two wore religious ceremonial robes, adorned with golden embroidery and sacred symbols.

The middle‑aged man in the center held the papal scepter—a decorative piece radiating a magical aura as sharp as the sword at his waist.

He was Lucios Galard, the current Pope of Millis. His expression was firm, his eyes carrying an almost inflexible determination.

To his right stood an elderly man, gentle features sculpted by age and white hair neatly arranged beneath a simple crown.

Despite his kind appearance, his face was clouded by sorrow and disappointment. He was Farnel Jay Milis, the King of Millis.

He let out a heavy sigh, his gaze fixed on the distant city.

The other old man, dressed in pompous bishop’s attire, snorted in disdain at the king’s sigh.

"Why are you sighing now, Farnel?" his voice was harsh, laden with accusation.

"None of this would have happened if you had been firmer when you were younger. That soft-hearted Harry infected you with perverse empathy for those abominable beings..."

This was Cardinal Leblanc MC Farlane, the second most powerful man in Millis and ardent defender of the Demon Races Expulsion Faction.

The king looked at him with weary eyes and replied:

"That too would have been avoided if we’d had nothing against these ’abominables’ to begin with..."

"That goes directly against the teachings of Saint Milis, and you know it," retorted the Cardinal sharply, his words cutting and threatening.

King Farnel remained silent. Not because he had nothing to say, but because he knew any argument would be useless against this lunatic.

Now the Church held the true power. His reign, though official, no longer conferred the authority of a true King.

Yet his position still allowed some influence—and if it were up to him, the Acceptance Faction would have had his support from the start.

However, as king, he was forced to remain neutral, which had worked for nearly his entire reign.

But now he deeply regretted that neutrality.

Had he openly supported Harry Grimoire when conflicts rose, perhaps the current holy war would never have erupted, perhaps his realm would not be on the brink of collapse. But the past could not be changed.

Still, the animosity between Farnel and Leblanc was clear. Their clashes were constant, but by convenience—and political pressure—their disputes had never directly affected the power structure during the war.

The disaster at the Marble Fortress sealed the king’s fate; his meager influence dissolved completely after his failed attempt to assassinate the Beast God.

His most loyal general had been captured, and thousands of soldiers were lost.

Since then, Farnel was truly only a decorative piece on the political chessboard.

Cardinal Leblanc cast a look of contempt at the king before turning to Pope Lucios.

"What are our chances, Lucios?"

Lucios kept his brow furrowed, eyes fixed on the open field before the city gates.

The White Knight, always by his side, was absent—a fact that spoke volumes about their level of preparedness.

The ambush against the Beast God required every trump card Millis still possessed.

"According to Him," said Lucios in a somber tone, "our chances are middling."

He paused, eyes narrowing as he watched the Legion of Iron’s century begin its deadly run toward the city. Rygar was in the lead, charging like lightning.

"That damned elven witch can make predictions...but there’s also the possibility that the Beast God himself reacts to these new threats. That would invalidate the element of surprise and change his course of action."

Leblanc frowned, displeased. Lucios continued:

"In any case, we’ll have only two chances to kill him. Fortunately, as we hoped, he invaded with only one century. Better yet would have been if he’d come alone, but this is already a victory. The White Knight will stop them, and the Magic Towers will annihilate them..."

It was at that moment that a brutal flash tore across the sky. A thunderous roar shook the air.

The three of them gasped as they saw the Divine Barrier pierced by the Beast God’s assault.

Lightning raced across the invisible dome of the city with catastrophic force.

The barrier quivered, shone blue, and then shattered like thin glass under extreme pressure.

The ensuing electromagnetic wave swept through Millis like an invisible storm.

Just as it was about to strike the three men on the balcony, a ring shone on Pope Lucios’s finger. A new barrier formed around them, blocking the magical impact.

Even so, the White Palace trembled. The enormous stained‑glass windows exploded, fragments of colored crystal raining around them.

The King, stunned by what he had just witnessed, turned to the Pope.

"I hope you’re right, Lucios..."

Without waiting for an answer, he turned and walked into the palace, leaving the Pope and Cardinal alone, silently watching the sacred city, now partially devastated, still illuminated by the distant sun.

---

Rygar thundered across the bridge like lightning, unstoppable, and entered the city of Millis. His Demon Eyes observed everything around him with almost absolute detail.

As expected, he could see dozens—perhaps hundreds—of magic circles and traps scattered throughout the city.

Below ground, countless civilian presences were also concentrated, protected by different types of barriers.

Milishion had not evacuated the civilians, but there was a reason for this.

In truth, in a certain sense, the city was considered the safest and, simultaneously, the most dangerous place of all.

Many believed that remaining there would keep them safe, sheltered from the Beast God. A tragic mistake.

Rygar sensed thousands of presences throughout the city. Some powerful. Others hidden. And there were entire areas his senses could not penetrate.

It was a bit strange. Walking through Milishion for the first time—the city deemed the most beautiful in the world—and finding it deserted.

Even so, despite that moment of tension and impending destruction, he had to admit: the day was beautiful, and the city’s architecture was majestic.

With his keen eyes, Rygar observed the Seven Magic Towers. As anticipated, each had its own defenses, surrounded by intricate high‑level barriers.

They would be difficult to destroy—but it wasn’t necessary to obliterate them completely. Probably just damaging them enough could help halt their function.

His hundred allies had now also entered the city, splitting into five units, exactly as planned. Everything was unfolding as they had foreseen.

But then something halted his charge. Rygar stopped and took two steps back.

In the next instant, a flaming pillar shot up violently from the ground where he had stepped, expanding destructively.

Houses, stones, shops—everything was incinerated. The conflagration spread, chaotic and hot as the wrath of the sky. Rygar retreated further and leapt nimbly onto the roof of a two‑story building. There, he paused—and smiled.

His black cloak billowed behind him as if celebrating the wind. His now long silver hair glinted in the sunlight. From atop the building, he observed the heart of the flames—and then he saw him.

Emerging from the conflagration was an imposing figure. A Knight. Full golden and silver armor, shining like the day itself.

A sky‑blue cloak billowed behind his broad shoulders. He hovered at the same height as Rygar, unshaken, like a herald from the heavens.

The explosion seemed to have no effect on him. On the contrary, he appeared to be its source. In his hand, he held a milky white blade exuding a sacred light.

It shone so brightly it would blind the weak. The guard of the weapon was shaped like a cross.

Rygar rested Tsukikage on his shoulder and smiled familiarly.

"Long time no see, Galgard! You didn’t invite me in... so I used my own key! Hope you don’t mind."

The Divine Warrior stared at him in silence, sharp eyes, rigid body, heavy soul. The pressure emanating from him was overwhelming, yet there was hesitation. A tension at seeing his opponent still calm.

"I suppose I did right to keep you at bay back then," said Galgard. "But even so... I made a mistake. I hope to wash away my regret from six years ago today, Rygar. It’s nothing personal."

He raised his sword in a lofty stance, not belonging to any known school of swordsmanship.

Rygar laughed, unfazed:

"Oh, really? Well, I think you should indeed regret it. But I’m afraid I have some sad news for you."

At that instant, the entire city erupted into chaos.

Rygar’s century collided with the hundreds of warriors awaiting in Milishion. Explosions, war cries, the clash of steel and spells filled the skies and streets.

The sound of war roared like thunder. Rygar’s eyes blazed with intensity, and his voice echoed with fury:

"No regret will save Millis from extinction. Today, I will crush any remnant of faith left in those rotten hearts!"

And then, as if answering his provocation, the two exploded into motion.

The Divine Warrior and the Beast God. The purest warrior and the most feared creature.

The final battle had begun.
