Mummy Evolution-Chapter 61: Other opportunities in the Tombs
"There are a lot of opportunities in Tombs," Ismera said as they walked, her voice casual despite the hand Sett wrapped around her waist. "And you'll miss them if you're too focused on the wrong things."
"This is never the wrong thing," Sett replied smoothly.
"Idiots come in all shapes and faces," she shot back. "And I won't tolerate you being one of them, Sett Ramses. Now, tell me—what are the other three greatest opportunities in Tombs besides the Tomb Hearts?"
Sett hummed in thought before answering.
Tombs didn't just hold Tomb Hearts. Those who could truly exploit their potential knew there was far more to gain. At the very least, they contained gold and other gleaming treasures—but that was only the surface of what they had to offer.
Ismera obviously wouldn't care about gold of all things.
So, she meant the other greater opportunities hidden inside Tombs.
Sett was half a book worm, so he knew the answer.
"One of the greatest opportunities in Tombs is the chance to experience a new world and a timeline you weren't part of."
"Yes." Ismera nodded approvingly. "That is one of the greatest opportunities. You can witness the power of past rulers, see the world from another civilization's perspective, or even unravel hidden but important historical events. It's always a valuable opportunity."
Especially if the Tomb had deep historical significance—like the presence of Gods. Anything touched by the divine always carried immense meaning in human societies. It wasn't just about power or treasure; it was about understanding.
Such Tombs were very rare even among A-tier or S-tier Tombs, but those Tombs were also easier to survive and thrive in if you knew the historical context.
Sett smiled at her approval.
"Tombs are filled with knowledge, and that's one opportunity," she said. "But history is only one of the three greatest opportunities I have in mind right now. Tell me the other two in my mind and I will give you a gift."
"Second great opportunity should be Tomb Technology," he said without hesitation.
The words made Ismera pause a little.
Tombs weren't always from their world's history. Some were remnants of entirely different civilizations—worlds with their own technological backbone and advancements. Some of those worlds were far more developed than Ehyut when it came to many things.
If someone managed to bring technology out of such Tombs, they could change everything!
Sett still remembered how his mother had once retrieved something called a hot-air balloon from an S-rank Tomb. A device that could fly through the air—it had seemed like a miracle at the time.
Even now, it remained one of Ehyut's most popular technological wonders.
He looked at Ismera, who had become silent, and wondered whether he had said the wrong answer. But Sett only knew one other opportunity inside Tombs that could be better than Tomb Technology and historical knowledge.
"Tomb Technology…" Ismera exhaled, shaking her head with a wry smile. "It's been so long. They're so rare that I nearly forgot they existed. But indeed, they are one of the three greatest opportunities in Tombs."
"You weren't thinking of Tomb Technology among the three in your mind?" he asked, blinking.
"Tomb Tech is just too rare. I raided so many Tombs but in my entire life, I've only gotten a single Tomb Tech and it wasn't that good of a thing. So, I was thinking of three other things."
Sett sighed as well.
It was a pity.
You couldn't simply learn how Tomb technologies worked and replicate their use in the real world. If that were possible, Ehyut would be leagues ahead of where it was now.
But it wasn't.
No matter how much research one did inside a Tomb, the knowledge would fade the moment they left. Even if they recorded their findings, the writing would vanish. It was some sort of protective mechanism that was in all high-tier Tombs.
That was the nature of high-tier Tombs.
Most of the time, trying to take a technological artifact out of a Tomb would just result in it crumbling to dust.
Only through sheer luck could one successfully extract a piece of Tomb Technology and study its workings in the real world. If that happened, of course mass production was possible. But it was an event so rare that it might as well have been a miracle.
Sett was a prince of a whole empire and he had only seen it happen twice.
Ismera blinked, her gaze bright.
Now came the final and best opportunity that she had in mind.
The dream of all Axiom Holders who raided Tombs.
"Aren't you forgetting the biggest opportunity that every Axiom Holder dreams of?" she asked.
Sett swallowed.
There was one possibility while entering a Tomb—the rarest, most impossible possibility of them all. A myth among Tomb Raiders.
His voice was tinged with desire as he spoke.
"And then… there is the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that only a handful across history have ever experienced. The Axiom Twin Scenario. You need some ungodly luck for such a thing to happen."
Both Ismera and Sett had a look of blazing desire at the words, but it was useless. Even they were not going to be that lucky.
Axioms.
When one person has an Axiom, another person cannot awaken the same Axiom. When Sett has the Axiom of Reincarnation, no one else in his lifetime will get that Axiom again. And even after he died, it will take a lot of years for the same Axiom to appear again.
But that could be different while inside a Tomb.
What if you entered the ancient past of your own world and saw someone from the ancient past who had the same Axiom as you?
That was luck.
After all, two people with the same Axiom will not have the same set of Abilities.
And, if you could kill that doppelganger, you can also inherit all of their abilities into your Axiom.
Just thinking of it was enough to make Sett's mouth water.
There had only been 2 people in history who experienced that event and both of those people went on to become absolute heavy weights in history. In a world where everyone only had 5 Abilities, they had 10.
And they were that much stronger due to it. And one person Sett knew had gone through that once in a blue moon event.
Neilara Ramses, the Blind Saint, Sett's beloved mother.
Sett felt heat rush through his chest.
His family had such cool people.
Sett tightened his hand around Ismera's waist, his hand subconsciously clenching around her rear.
"So, what is my reward for telling you the three opportunities?" he asked curiously.
She stopped, turned to look back at him, and smiled with her pretty face. "Don't worry, I am not you. I don't go back on my word. The reward is a challenge from me."
"Eh?" Sett groaned, looking away from her with a sneer. "I won the challenge and my reward is another challenge? Talk about convenience."
"Don't be so quick to refuse. If you win this challenge, I am willing to listen to one of your requests, no matter what they are."
Sett's heart skipped a beat.
Had he heard right?
The source of this c𝐨ntent is freeweɓnovēl.coɱ.
"Any, I mean any, request?"
Ismera smirked. "If you win this challenge, sure."
"Say the challenge!"
"I want you to try and defeat this Tomb without my assistance."
He bit his lips. "This is an A-tier Tomb, though."
"Did you think an ask-for-anything wish from me would be cheap?"
That made sense.
"If you want me to keep indulging you, brat, show me you're more than just a spoiled boy clinging to my skirts. Conquer this Tomb with your own strength—prove you've got the instincts and grit I'm trying to teach you, and maybe I'll let you get away with more."
With that, Sett realized that she was just teasing him. He was too inexperienced to beat an A-tier Tomb without her help. She must be sure of it.
But you underestimate my drive, grandma.
