Multiverse: Deathstroke-Chapter 427: Being Eaten
Chapter 427 - Ch.427 Being Eaten
Watching the vengeful crone spill a ton of intel, Su Ming was grinning inside. Hecate was such a saint—laying out the whole story before croaking.
Now that he knew so much dirt on the gods, his tactical options just got a lot juicier.
Gotta hand it to her—Hecate picked a solid moment. The Source Wall's cracked, Perpetua's descended, and the Justice League couldn't spare a second for her.
Heaven's gone haywire somehow—angels are spazzing out, warring with Hell like it's Armageddon.
Upside-Down Man is wreaking havoc beyond the Wall, frying 90% of the world's magic.
Even to Su Ming, this timing screamed perfect revenge window.
And Hecate's training clearly paid off. Aside from the power in Diana and Circe, counting her own share, she'd already snagged four chunks of energy.
She was still in control, no sweat.
Su Ming could almost picture her sprouting curved horns next, unfurling batwings, soaring up, and declaring under a full moon:
'I was imprisoned for ten thousand years, exiled from my homeland, and now you dare trespass in my domain? You're begging for death! Begging for death!'
She was here for vengeance—whether the world crumbled or not, she didn't give a damn!
"Can we still talk this out?"
Truth is, she wasn't the one who messed up at the start—just her revenge timing's off.
If Earth handled its doomsday crisis first, then she went after whoever, Su Ming wouldn't care. If the price was right, he'd even lend Hecate a hand.
But not now. If the DC Universe goes down here, sure, Su Ming could bounce back to Marvel, but he hasn't spent his commission cash yet—turning it into worthless paper ain't happening.
"Talk? I'm done negotiating with humans!"
Murder flared across the crone's face. She'd said enough—time to squash these two bugs and use the magic circle under their feet for the final step of her plan.
The other two faces on her head—the younger ones—stayed silent, just shedding quiet tears.
"No deal then?" Su Ming shrugged, turning to Zatanna beside him. "Let's roll."
Zatanna sucked in a breath, like she was summoning every ounce of strength, and shouted, "Open fight door!"
Su Ming mimed digging out his ear. She didn't need to yell that loud—her backward magic was too tied to Upside-Down Man, like drawing blood straight from him.
Forget teleportation spells—even if she tried conjuring a pigeon, it'd rip open a world rift.
The source of this c𝓸ntent is frёeweɓηovel.coɱ.
She just punched a tiny hole, and Upside-Down Man would do the heavy lifting, swinging wide the dark gate.
As her words landed, a massive black circle flared up on the hall's ceiling. A white-scaled monster, dripping black goo, slid out upside-down.
"Hiss... this sweet scent. After hundreds of thousands of years waiting, I've finally found the little thief who stole my stuff."
Upside-Down Man, with just one big mouth for a face, hung inverted in the air, taking a deep sniff-like motion, as if savoring Hecate's aroma.
Drool—or something like it—poured from its maw. Looked like it'd picked up some tricks lately—maybe hit up an acting workshop?
It knew humans salivate at food to show it's tasty.
Only, it clearly had no clue what a reasonable amount was—its drool rained down like a storm, soaking Hecate into a drenched mess.
Hecate realized her power was useless. The witchcraft inside her caved the second it faced its original owner.
But Upside-Down Man was a darker, scarier threat to everyone—how dare these mortals summon it?!
"No! What have you done!?"
Hecate shrieked like a regular old lady, stumbling to flee on shaky legs.
Upside-Down Man wasn't letting this thief slip away again. It slithered out of its portal fast, coiling around Hecate like a python.
Its gaping maw chomped down on her neck in one bite.
No blood, no chunks—Upside-Down Man bit into her like she was cake, absorbing a piece of 'concept' invisibly.
"Ahh!!!"
"Heh heh, so tasty."
Hecate writhed on the floor in agony, still unable to break free. Upside-Down Man must've taken notes from snakes—this old-tree-roots move was pure boa constrictor.
It pinned her tight, gorging itself while letting out cozy laughs and praise.
But its vocab was lacking—just "so tasty" on repeat.
Su Ming stood arms crossed, watching coldly. Once Hecate nixed talks, she had to go.
She'd done good, done wrong—none of it mattered now. Once a concept's gone, she wouldn't even get to meet 'death.'
From now on, the DC world wouldn't have 'Witch Mother' or 'witchcraft' as terms anymore.
Just a foreign concept from beyond the Wall—the dark side of witchcraft back then, today's 'magic,' Upside-Down Man.
Snakes swallow prey whole, but Upside-Down Man savored it slow—nibbling Hecate bite by bite like ice cream, licking with its long tongue now and then.
Even if it wanted to stretch out the fun, Hecate was only so big—it finished her off quick.
It turned its gaze to Su Ming and Zatanna. It remembered these two—they'd both gotten in its way before.
But now they'd opened the door and welcomed it back. It couldn't figure out their angle.
Humans—such complicated creatures.
It flicked its long tongue across its mouth, like something they couldn't see was stuck there.
"You two are weird. Not planning to run for your lives?" Upside-Down Man tilted its head at them, its neck stretching like rubber.
Seeing this, Su Ming finally clicked why Upside-Down Man felt so familiar.
Hanging upside-down from the ceiling, white scales all over, a neck that stretched and shrank at will, a face that's just a big mouth—
Had it been playing Monster Hunter out beyond the Wall? Wasn't this just a Tobi-Kadachi?
But given its smarts, it probably couldn't hop worlds to game—this look was likely just a fluke.
"Now you've reclaimed most of your power—what's next?"
Su Ming slipped a hand behind his back, signaling Barry on the sly—time to get ready.
While Su Ming and Zatanna waited for Hecate, Barry had hauled in a pile of tech gear.
He'd carved a hidden observation room into one of the hall's walls—there, he'd run the equipment to sync with Deathstroke's moves.
Sure, if Upside-Down Man could be reasoned with, Su Ming wouldn't unleash an indiscriminate superweapon.
But if talks tanked, he'd slam the door and let Wade loose.
