Multiple Personalities-Chapter 443: Treasure
Every time danger surged like a raging tide, Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu stood firm like two unyielding mountains, relying on their extraordinary wisdom and fearless courage to avert disaster time and again. That mysterious book, like a silent yet powerful guardian, always managed to guide and assist them at critical moments with an indescribable magical force. Despite racking their brains, they still couldn't fully uncover all the secrets hidden within the book, but those faint clues, like stars twinkling in the night sky, convinced them that they were getting closer step by step to the alluring truth.
Finally, after a long and thrilling journey, they arrived at a mysterious land. Here, the clouds and mist were like a gentle yet mysterious veil covering the entire world, as if it was the boundary between the human realm and a fairyland. In the depths of the mist, an ancient temple loomed indistinctly, like a giant that had slept for a thousand years, exuding an awe-inspiring mysterious aura. The temple's doors were tightly closed, as if guarding some unspeakable secret, with a vague mysterious power pervading the surroundings, filling Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu's hearts with an inexplicable tension and anticipation.
Shen Jingqi slightly furrowed his brows, a hint of vigilance and curiosity in his eyes, and he softly said to Li Baiyu, "Senior, it feels so mysterious here. Could this be the place we're looking for?" Li Baiyu's gaze was firm, and she nodded slightly, saying, "It's very likely. Let's be careful." The two exchanged a glance, seeing the same determination in each other's eyes; they knew that this could very well be the final destination they had struggled so hard to find.
They cautiously walked towards the temple, each step taken with extreme care, as if the ground beneath was a sleeping giant that could awaken with the slightest misstep. As they drew closer, the ground beneath their feet started to tremble slightly, the frequency of the vibrations increasing, as if heralding a significant event about to unfold. Shen Jingqi's heartbeat involuntarily sped up, and he gripped his weapon tightly, his palms already sweaty. Li Baiyu also sensed something unusual and softly reassured him, "Don't be nervous, let's handle this carefully."
When they finally stood in front of the temple doors, a deep rumbling sound suddenly emanated from within, like the roar of an ancient beast. Immediately after, the doors slowly opened, and a blinding light shot out like a sharp sword from inside, too dazzling for them to keep their eyes open. Shen Jingqi instinctively shielded his eyes with his hand, filled with shock and confusion, "What's hidden in this light?" Li Baiyu also frowned tightly, trying to maintain her composure.
As the light gradually faded, they cautiously opened their eyes, and the scene before them left them in awe. The temple was filled with a strange fragrance that seemed to possess a magical power, making them feel relaxed and happy upon inhaling it. The walls around were etched with mysterious runes and patterns, which, under the dim light, shimmered with an eerie glow, as if narrating an ancient and mysterious story.
In the center of the temple stood a massive stone altar, upon which rested a treasure emitting a multicolored radiance. The treasure's colors were as vibrant as a rainbow, enticing them to approach and explore. Shen Jingqi's eyes were fixed on the treasure, a strong impulse rising within him: "What is the function of this treasure? Could it be related to the truth we're seeking?" Li Baiyu noticed his thoughts, gently tugging at his sleeve to remind him, "Don't be rash, there's surely danger here."
However, as they approached the stone altar, suddenly, a sinister laugh echoed from all directions, as cold as an icy wind that sent shivers down the spine. Then, a group of shadowy figures emerged from all around. These shadows had shifting shapes, seemingly formed from smoke, bearing wicked smiles on their faces, with eyes full of greed and malice, like a pack of hungry beasts eyeing a tasty prey.
The leading shadow floated forward a few steps, its voice sharp and piercing, "You have finally come. Hand over the mysterious book and the treasure, and perhaps we might spare your lives." Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu stood closely together, determination and anger filling their eyes. Shen Jingqi shouted, "No way! We'll never hand these over to you, you vile creatures!" Li Baiyu also gripped her weapon tightly, coldly saying, "If you have the skill, come and take it!"
The shadows let out another sinister laugh that echoed within the temple, chilling to the bone. Then, they lunged towards Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu. A thrilling battle ensued. Shen Jingqi wielded his long sword, its shadow flickering like a giant silver dragon, charging towards the shadows. Li Baiyu, armed with a short knife, moved agilely among them, every strike filled with sharp momentum.
The shadowy figures' attacks were bizarre; their bodies could morph at will, sometimes turning into giant monsters lunging at them, other times shrinking into thin mist slipping through the gaps in their defense, making them hard to grasp. Shen Jingqi secretly despaired, "These guys are too difficult to handle, what should we do?" Li Baiyu also felt immense pressure, yet she gritted her teeth and fought on.
In a fierce confrontation, one shadow suddenly transformed into a giant bat, swooping towards Shen Jingqi. Caught off guard, he was swept by the bat's wing, staggering and nearly falling. Seeing this, Li Baiyu rushed over, striking the bat with her blade. The bat shrieked and dissipated into a puff of smoke. Shen Jingqi glanced at Li Baiyu gratefully, saying, "Thank you, Senior!" Li Baiyu shook her head, saying, "Stay focused, be careful!"
However, as time passed, the number of shadowy figures increased, and they gradually felt their strength waning. Shen Jingqi's arm was already sore, each sword swing becoming laborious. Li Baiyu's breathing grew rapid, beads of sweat covered her forehead. Their attack speed slowed, and their defense showed vulnerabilities.
Just as they began to despair, that mysterious book emitted a powerful light. The light was as blinding as the sun, instantly enveloping the entire temple. Under its brilliance, the shadowy figures cried out in agony, their bodies starting to dissipate, like snow melting in sunlight. Shen Jingqi and Li Baiyu watched this scene in amazement, filled with confusion and joy. Shen Jingqi muttered to himself, "What magical power does this book hold? Why does it activate at crucial moments?" Li Baiyu also shook her head, saying, "No matter what, we're safe for now."
