  Chapter 16 Prenuptial Agreements

"This is a normal inquiry, OK?"

Before Lacey could speak, Roan took out the Glock 18 and put it on the desk, smiling:

"We have no doubts about you, Mr. Darren. But according to procedure, we must ask these questions to remove suspicion from you."

Seeing Roan's gun, Darren frowned and was about to get angry, but seeing the smile on Roan's face, he barely suppressed it, and said in an unhappy tone:

"I checked a real estate in Los Angeles yesterday and stayed at the Hilton Hotel tonight."

"OK."

Lacey wrote and drew in the notes, asked a few simple questions, and then asked with a serious face:

"Mr. Darren, may I ask if your husband and wife have offended anyone recently? Did you find any strange people when you bought this villa?"

   "no."

Darren waved his hands again and again, and his tone was very angry: "There was nothing wrong when we bought this villa, and our husband and wife have always treated people gently, and the company's affairs are handled according to the regulations, and we have never offended anyone at all."

".All right."

Lacey simply wrote down these things, turned to look at Roan, and Roan immediately said:

"Mr. Darren, in view of the financial situation of your husband and wife, we judge that the other party kidnapped Ms. Sabina for ransom, so if there is no accident, the other party will call you soon to ask for the ransom."

   "OK."

Hearing what Roan said, Darren breathed a sigh of relief, waved his big hand and said directly:

"It doesn't matter, as long as Sabina can come back, she can have as much money as she wants, I don't care!"

Roan ignored the other party's low-key pretending, and continued:

"But for Sabina's personal safety, we will send an agent to follow you to protect your safety and monitor your mobile phone, so as to try to locate the kidnapper's location through the phone."

   "No, you can't do that."

Hearing this, Darren stood up suddenly, and said in a very unhappy tone:

"Since the other party is only asking for money, then just give them the money! What if the other party finds out about your existence and just tears up the ticket? I can't bet on Sabina's life!"

"you"

As soon as Lacey heard this, she subconsciously wanted to refute the other party, but Roan grabbed her arm and turned to look at Roan. Roan got up and asked seriously:

"Mr. Darren, are you sure you don't need us to protect your personal safety?"

"unnecessary!"

Darren replied coldly, but for some reason his tone softened suddenly, and he continued:

"I just want my wife to come back safely. If the other party asks for money, I will give it to them. We are not short of money! It's just a simple transaction, and I can do it myself. You FBI just need to catch the kidnappers."

"OK."

Roan nodded, did not continue to say anything, pulled Lacey who hadn't reacted yet, and left the study of the villa.

The two walked out of the villa. Lacey checked the surroundings to make sure that no one could hear her, and asked in confusion:

"Luo An, the other party is very uncooperative, so there is a lot of suspicion!"

"Yes, it may be his hands."

Roan nodded, turned on the Nokia and asked Mona on the other end of the phone:

"Mona, have you checked Darren's recent financial situation or consumption bills?"

"Of course, you have to trust my strength, Mona."

Mona's crisp voice came from the other end of the phone, laughing:

"Darren did have a plane ticket to Los Angeles yesterday, and it was still first class, but there were no check-in records for him in several local Hilton hotels. So I checked Darren's previous bills again, and found that he often went to In Las Vegas, the gambling city, basically all accounts were withdrawn but not received, and a simple estimate shows that he has probably lost nearly two million dollars."

Roan nodded and continued to ask:

"When Darren and Sabina got married, did they sign any prenuptial agreement?"

"Eh, wait for me for a few minutes."

Crackling keyboard sounds came from the other end of the phone. It took a long time before Mona's voice came over, and she said excitedly:

"There is a copy! It is recorded in a well-known law firm in New York. It contains several pages of regulations. One of them is that if Darren divorces on his own initiative, then he must leave the house, and if Sabina dies, Darren Only $300,000 will be given away, and the money Sabina inherited from her parents will be donated.”

“.I don’t understand the thinking of rich people.”

Roan shook his head, tilted his head and said to Lacey:

"Darren's money mainly comes from his and Sabina's company. He spent a lot of money on gambling, and there is a high probability that the chain of funds in his hand has been broken. And he can't tell Sabina about this, so in order to get A lot of money, and kidnapping one's wife for ransom is obviously a good idea.

According to the prenuptial agreement, Darren could only get $300,000 after Sabina died. This amount of money prevented Darren from killing his wife for money, because it was not worth it. "

Lacey also came to her senses, and then analyzed Roan's words: "So Sabina should be safe now, because Darren won't get any money if she dies. Darren is just asking for money."

   "Exactly."

Roan nodded, this direction can be tried, so he raised the Nokia and looked at the car in front of him and asked:

"Mona, the cars in this villa are all the latest Cadillacs, the license plate numbers are ***, ***, can you locate them?"

"certainly!"

Several crackling keyboard sounds sounded, and Mona quickly said with a smile:

"Done! I know where they are now!"

   "OK, thank you, Mona."

Hanging up the phone, Roan turned to look at Lacey and laughed:

"You said before that you came from the intelligence service, and your tracking skills are very high. Darren will leave it to you, and you will go wherever he goes."

   "Easy!"

Lacey smiled, gave Roan a trusting gesture, turned around and walked into the villa.

Two-pronged approach to ensure that Darren's next actions will never leave his control, Roan nodded in satisfaction, and was about to return to the car to wait for Darren's next move when the Nokia suddenly rang.

Take out the mobile phone and find that it was Ryder who called him. Roan was a little puzzled but still connected to the mobile phone.

   "Roan, I need your help."

Ryder on the other end of the phone didn't talk nonsense, and said directly:

"I've gone through all the files of the serial murder case, but I didn't find any clues. I just heard in the office that you have solved the kidnapping case. If that's the case, how about you analyze the files of the serial murder case?"

"Forehead."

Roan picked up the Nokia and looked at it, hesitantly said:

"I haven't solved the kidnapping case, the murderer of the kidnapping case has not been caught, and I can't go back to the office yet"

"You don't need to come back."

Ryder’s voice on the other end of the phone changed, and an SUV that was the same as Roan’s seat slowly stopped on the road not far away. Ryder got out of the car with his phone in his hand, grinning loudly:

"I have come to you with the documents."

  Roan: "."
