Chapter 84: Chapter 84: You Thought I Was Flirting?

Why did he suddenly send this? Audrey Sutton started to feel puzzled.

Immediately, an audio message popped up: "Where are you?!"

Even through the phone, Audrey Sutton was stunned by his anxious and slightly annoyed tone.

His tone seemed a bit angry, more like worried and anxious.

Did he find out something?

Audrey Sutton hastily wiped her tears, typed a line on the keyboard: I’m at school.

Another audio message popped up: "You haven’t seen me for a few days, and your lying skills have improved, haven’t they?!"

Hearing how certain he was that she was lying, Audrey Sutton stared blankly at the phone, unsure how to cover up her lie or how to end this. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Looking up at the street at the moment, it was no longer as bustling as before.

The shops by the street were closing one after another, leaving a sense of desolation after the hustle and bustle.

"Ding dong—"

An audio message popped up: "I’m asking where you are! Don’t make me ask a third time!"

Hearing his harsh tone, Audrey Sutton felt even more wronged inside.

But hearing his tone wasn’t good, she didn’t dare act up, turned to look around and replied: I don’t know where this is either.

"Share your location now!" He was a bit exasperated.

On one hand, he was worried about her, and on the other, he was indeed angry that she encountered something and held it in without telling him, just like last time.

Audrey Sutton watched his avatar on the map getting closer to her, feeling that he’d arrive in just a few minutes.

She hurriedly fished out wet wipes from her bag to wipe her face.

But the redness and swelling of her eyes from crying wouldn’t disappear in a short while.

"Beep—"

Along with the honking, a beam of headlights came over, the car stopped in front of her.

The car door opened, he got out from the driver’s seat, stood in front of her, and looked at her without saying a word.

Even though he said nothing, his eyes seemed to be silently interrogating, waiting for her to confess.

Audrey Sutton lowered her head slightly, glanced at him, then lowered her eyes again, nervously clutching the metal chain of her purse.

"Nothing you want to tell me?" He asked with a frown, his tone not particularly pleasant.

Seeing her looking like this, he thought she must have been crying here for quite some time; thinking of this made Shane Warner both angry and heartbroken.

Audrey Sutton kept her head down, not knowing what to tell him.

Should she say she lied and came here secretly? Or that she saw him with another woman?

Shane Warner, seeing her wronged expression, eyes moist with tears, felt that if he said two more sentences, she’d start crying immediately.

He sighed helplessly, grabbed her wrist, and pushed her into the car.

Shane Warner got into the driver’s seat, and while fastening her seatbelt, asked her: "When did you get here?"

She sniffed and answered in a muffled voice: "Morning."

"Why didn’t you call me?"

Audrey Sutton kept her head down, not speaking.

She originally had an excuse ready; if she didn’t find anything unusual about him, she would surprise him by saying she wanted to give him a surprise.

But under the current circumstances, she clearly couldn’t say that.

Shane Warner slowly started the car, thinking he spent most of the day with Phoebe King; if she arrived in the morning, she must have seen something that made her sit crying on the street.

"Tell me what you sneaked over to see."

Audrey Sutton didn’t expect him to bring up this matter, she remained silent for two seconds, muttering: "I saw everything."

"Tell me, tell me why you’re crying."

As soon as Audrey Sutton heard it, images of him with that woman appeared in her mind. Her nose tingled, and she tried to open her eyes wider, turning her head to look out the window, trying to stop her tears.

Not waiting for her answer, Shane Warner said himself: "You think I’m fooling around outside?"

Audrey Sutton couldn’t help but retort: "You were fooling around! You think I didn’t see?"

"If you saw, why didn’t you come to me and talk it out right away? Does hiding and crying help? Didn’t I tell you last time to let me know if something happens? Ignoring my calls and messages, do you think that won’t worry someone? Just because of your guesses, you think you’re right, distressing yourself here, haven’t I already told you, don’t use your bubble tea-filled mind to speculate about my matters!"

Due to anxiety and worry, and her repeated distrust, his tone was a bit agitated as he said this, with a hint of scolding.

After he finished speaking, he saw her pouting, her eyes wet and red, looking even more wronged as she turned her head silently, facing the car window.

He sighed softly, slowed down the car and gently parked it by the roadside, speaking softer to himself: "Can’t let anyone say your mind’s not good, say two things to you and you cry even more."

He got out of the car, walked around to open her car door, bent down, saw her wipe her tears with her hand, got out of the car, glanced at him, then awkwardly stood in place.

Shane Warner closed the car door, glanced at Audrey Sutton with red eyes and emotions still not completely in check, her wronged look truly made him feel both headache and heartache.

He reached for her wrist, leading her towards the hotel.

Coincidentally, Phoebe King was at the front desk in the lobby’s first floor.

"Oh? Shane, why aren’t you asleep?" Phoebe King leaned crookedly against the front desk, saying as she began to size up the girl beside Shane Warner, teasing, "Where did you abduct a little girl? Aren’t you married? Do you believe I won’t tell your wife about your naughtiness?"

Audrey Sutton looked at Phoebe King through tearful eyes, still wearing the avocado-colored dress from earlier, with a tattoo of a cartoon girl on the left arm, holding a smoking woman’s cigarette between her fingers.

Shane Warner pulled Audrey Sutton forward, saying to Phoebe King: "Let me formally introduce, my wife, Audrey Sutton. Just call her Audrey."

Phoebe King stood there with her mouth agape, then immediately stood straight, stubbed out her cigarette in the ashtray, wiped her hands on her dress, and reached out to Audrey Sutton: "Hello, sister-in-law!"

Audrey Sutton was startled, feeling like she was seeing a female version of Faye Xavier.

Though she didn’t know what the situation was, seeing Phoebe King’s hand still hanging mid-air.

Holding a bit of hostility towards Phoebe King, Audrey Sutton hesitated but out of politeness, extended her hand for a handshake.

During the handshake, Audrey Sutton was thinking if this was a more advanced edition of a green tea girl, acting all brotherly with someone else’s husband while scheming in secret.

"Shane, did you bully her? Look at those tears, how heart-wrenching!" Phoebe King said, stepping forward to hug Audrey Sutton’s shoulders, "Sister-in-law, if he’s bullying you, tell me, I’ll teach him a lesson for you!"

Shane Warner frowned and pulled Audrey Sutton back into his arms, speaking to Phoebe King without good humor: "She’s just jealous of you, and you’re still stirring the pot."

Phoebe King: "Huh?"
